No pictures of the Ford GT?

With that said, it would have been a fun experience to set that lot of cars pull up at once.

The power of Search.

So I was leaving the office today and I caught something from the corner of my eye. I thought it might be a Challenger but I only caught a brief glimpse of it, so I cut down the next side street and went into the parking lot looking. Sure enough it was!!! I had heard rumours that there was one floating around Rochester Hills so I knew there was a chance I would see it sooner or later. I think the best thing about this photo is not that the car is pre-production, but the fact that it is dirty.

Dodge Challenger SRT-8...finally!

Another Challenger, I'm sort of getting tired of seeing these things and only snap a picture if it's a different colour. The only one I'm missing is orange.

Another Dodge Challenger, I wasn't going to photograph it but it was a lame car spotting day.

Ah, I remember the black one. Don't remember any of the others though.

edit: I forgot to mention that as soon as you lift the door handle, the windows roll down about 1/4 inch. It looks like it lowers down out of some moulding for a better seal. Pretty cool. Push button start as well.

I thought it would have had wider tires as well, but it's only got 245/45/20s. Not that 245 is small, but still. You'd think they would be a little bigger. I've got 245s on my car, lol.

That's probably part of what makes it look weird. It has this look that makes it all massive but comes with skinny tires.

Ya the window thing is sort of weird, the Cooper does it. Strange as hell the first time it happened.

Anyway you guys are so right. Ill just post a bunch of pictures of old american cars that are a dime a dozen and maybe I'll throw in some riced out beetles for good measure and then, I too, can be a legend.

yay I'm a legend.

Seriously, all that has been stated here is true.

Mexico's streets are probably the dirtiest on earth and the car culture of Mexico sucks also, and is minimal compared to other places but it has very cool tidbits, and that is what we all mexican car nuts have to make do with; believe me, I completely gree with that.

Now, about the "good or dont", I also agree that a ricer isn't a good spot, but I have been shooting cars in the streets for 5 years (even had a website about it, Rue saw it) and the ricers were always the funniest of the spots; laughing at a car is always good in my book.

the rustbuckets, well, bear in mind what is a good car and a good spot is totally subjective; I have always been a guy of old cars and I have ALWAYS loved the sights of abandoned cars, in fact, one of the most important parts of mywebsite was the abandoned car section, everybody enjoyed it and a couple of rides got saved because of it; when I went car-hunting I went to the oldest parts of the city because I knew there would be abandoned cars everywhere and indeed there were... hell, they even smell cool. Yes, i'm weird; and they are not a dime a dozen, there ARE abandoned cars that are a dime a dozen and I don't photograph them because they were common (1950-1954 chevs among them, man, they almost fall from trees), so no, they are not a dime a dozen... when was the last time you saw a 1947 Plymouth with original paint?

And about what Doug said about culture, no, it's not ridiculous, cars reflect culture in a way few things can; for example, the VW beetle. A VW bug SCREAMS Mexico: they have been taxis for 35 years, Mexico was the last country where it was produced, and everyone here learned to drive in a VW Bug, me included. the "Vocho" IS Mexico and seeing a bug that is riced or that drag races or anything, belongs in Mexico. Another part is the mexican Super Bee, a model developed exclusively for Mexico, is the mainstone for the Muscle Car culture in Mexico and everyone wants one; it confuses US Mopar lovers and we delight on that. It's just Mexico, and I have found mexican 'Bees of every year abandoned on the streets, destroying contemporary Mustangs, or rode in a friend's original, 34k km from new, 4-speed 74 model that still boils them.

And to make the point, I present you with one of the most extraordinary car spots I have ever found, this Mitsubshi electric Trolebus from the 70s:

trole1.jpg

tla023.jpg

trole2.jpg

The story goes like this: in that time, the local governments of Tokyo and Mexico City made a cultural arrangement and interchanged five electric buses to be used as educational centers for children; five mexican Troles went to Tokyo, five Mitsus came here; I have found FOUR of them (have to look for them in my pile of pics, i'll show you all of them) and this one, the first one I ever found, still serves that purpose, the sign in the little insert of the picture says "educational bus: bring your children to learn crafts, draw and have a good time" more or less, and indeed, at least two of them were full of children singing when I found them (check out the arms and hands poking outta the windows). And besides, they are FREAKING cool.

That is culture, and its reflected in the cars I have found abandoned, and so has been, its true, really.

So yeah, some might not like them but I have always loved rusting hulks and I'll continue posting them, from a 1970 Challenger RT ragtop (rarest abandoned car I have found) to a bunch of VWs, I'll keep on it. Just enjoy. And yeah, go to your local junkyard and snap some shots, I loooooooooove junkyards.

Keep posting all your great and interesting spots, Cano. Anyone that complains about the content in your posts is in a massive minority and has no business complaining about them here.

I think thats one of the "semi cabrios" isn't it?

No. Coupe with a vinyl roof.

No, he's right, it's a Bauer* convertible. The roof folds down like a normal 'vert but the side windows and frames stay along with a roll hoop. I presume Bauer* is a German company who specialise in these after-market conversions, but i can't find any info about them anywhere.

Thanks Cracker, it had to be a vert based on the roof ribs and the rear window but it sure as heck didn't look like any E30 cab I've ever heard of and wiki wasn't much help aside from mentioning bauer.

Also I think the depth of Cano's most recent post/spot pretty much makes the point for why his are simply another unique perspective on car spotting that many of us would not want to miss in this thread.

Some foolish fool has left an Escort RS2000 Turbo on my driveway where my car normally sits. Wonder who it's for?:D:D:D:D:D

I bloody wish!

I see a lot of these but mainly they're on a forecourt, there's a Ferrari dealership in Manchester but this one was privately owned. I still see a few on the streets, more so than Laborghini's, but I've never snapped one to post here before. Sometimes I see a silver T350C going down this road, this was opn the way home from work.

I'm cheating a little here as this is my neighbours car so it's not really something that I just happened to spot while going about my business, damn nice car though. This was when I got home from work.

Exactly my point - it's an RS Turbo, not an RS2000 Turbo... As far as I'm aware, there was no Mk4 RS2000 of any flavour. And the RS Turbo was a 1.6...

Really? But... the badges...

Dammit Famine!

:embarrassed:

I still want it though.

You guys get all the nice Escorts and Focuses while we're stuck with this trash.

ford_escort.jpg

Escort.

ford_focus_2008.jpg

Focus.

I've had the displeasure of being in both, and I can seriously say that older Escort is by far better than the new plastic edition Focus. I took 1 car ride in it with my girlfriend and her mom, and I was constantly thinking: Wow. Ford sure knows how to use plastic to a fault. There really was plastic everywhere, not even good quality, like you could see where someone cut it to size with a Dewalt power saw or something.

But the next day I take a ride in an F-150 and there is leather. EVERYWHERE. Rode better than the Focus too in every way, but it was a truck. I'm shocked, even if it does cost 20 grand more.

/rant on crappy American Fords.
