Looooong time no post!! But I finally got more time in my hands, so blam, double post.
1974 Monaco with retractable lamps, that has seen better days. Very luxurious, a friend of my dad has one in perfect conditions and they are very comfortable cruisers, I’d have one for long trips, interior is like an auditorium.
A pristine 1964 Rambler 4 door that just sits there, it seems it has been left to rot… I know it’s nothing spectacular, but come on, how can you let a car this nice and solid just sit? At least sell it.
We received a lead about a “1969 Charger Drag Car” and followed it because 69 Chargers are incredibly rare in Mexico (never sold here), but it turned out to be a Mexican 69 Dart GTS drag car, wich is still a good loot. Check out the radiused rear fenders Hurst Hemi Dart style, the gigantic rear drag radials and the mean general vibe; we could not get better shots even tough we begged the owner, who told us this thing has a 13:1 340 under the hood and won several national championships on its heyday. Cool.
From same owner, parked in front of the house that contained the darg Dart, this drag-style Mexican Dodge Magnum, the successor of the Mexican Dart GTS and Super Bee of the 70s and early 80s. It had a warmed over 360 and a Dana 60 underneath those fat drag radials on Torq-Thrusts and caltracs, and looked very very mean, but I doubt it’s that fast. Still, cool car.
More old Mopar junk in the form of a 74 Coronet 4 door, a spot for me because they were never sold here and was in good shape, but its such a turd that nobody would ever pay attention to it. Just, ahem, me.
1968 Camaro, an incredibly rare car in Mexico because, again, Camaros were sold here until the fourth generation of the F-body and they have been highly sought after (like everywhere else); this was a six cylinder car but come on, it screams for an LS1 and Minilites, haha; besides, its in awesome shape. Not for sale tough.
Mexican-only Monte Carlo SS with a 350, 4-speed and Dana rearend, the last of the Mexican-exclusive Muscle Cars, this one in sad shape even tough these cars are pretty sought after because of their good capability to accept mods and because they are still fairly cheap to buy and build:
Haha, this was neat, pretty well executed and besides, who could say no to a pic of a 1969 Pontiac GTO?
Ah, yeah, the rest of it is quite good too. It has a car, right?
International Panel truck amidst a bunch of trash; it was probably used to haul all that stuff to that place, then dumped there. Rotting in the same place since two years ago.
I don’t really remember if this has been posted before, I looked and I could swear no, but anyway, 1971 Camaro, very rare car here, again, never sold here and highly sought after, and in very restorable condition, it also begs for a LS1 and a six speed.
Very nice Renault 4 Transporter! Most of these turned into clouds of rust long ago, and seeing one in good shape is really difficult, this one was excellent.
A really bad replica of a 356 in a VW Bug Chasis, you know, the typical stuff; this one had solid steel wheels, but pfff:
1954 I think Chevrolet pick up, in restorable conditions. I keep seeing these trucks buried to the ground and abandoned, and it seems everyone is looking for one (or a F-100 Ford), so I ask why are there so many in poor conditions?
A 1953 Chevy 4-door Sedanette, quite rare, it is more common to see the two-door Sedanette, and this one is for sale, a good project, it doesn’t take much to make this one look cool and sinister, even if it’s a more-door:
1968 Coronet with a 318 inch engine, the basic recipe we received here in Mexico (and the only one -_-), these are also hard to come by in any decent shape, so this was fresh, nice two-tone paint, it only needs decent wheels.
Very rare and somewhat rusty 1965 Mustang ragtop, the convertibles were sold in very very VERY limited numbers in those years because they were so expensive, so it is really difficult to see these cars; this was more or less good but far from perfect, check out the rust bubbles in the lower quarters.
1954 Mercury Wagon, also very rare car, you don’t see Mercs of this vintage anough, and even less so wagons. This one seemed to have been in restoration some time ago but the work has been dumped and it now just sits there.
If you look really hard you can see that this late-70s Chevelle has had a cargo box adapted to where once was its trunklid. Mexicans rule. Dah.
A new picture of an old find, I first spotted this gigantic Grand Prix about six years ago still in service, and it was cool to see it is still in use after this time… I’m saying this because it had a much more tattered brother that has vanished.
You gotta dig the name “Valiant Acapulco”, it was the Mexican name for the ragtop version, but it only had a slant six for power; rare cars tough, and of course, cache!
Another new pic of an old find, but time has not been gentle to this 47 Plymouth. It was in bad shape when I found it six years ago (same day I found the GP), but it was not this bad.
Minty 1957 Chevy 4 door post car that seemed to be a usual driver, its cool to see these cars still in the run, and looking this good. Traditional 50s colours work well, and check out those fin antennae!
Extremely rare and desirable 1960 Ford Starliner, the only one I have ever seen, and I ask again, how come such a cool rare car can be in so bad shape? I would SO daily drive this thing, it look gorgeous.
The guy saying hello is my fridn, he always went with me to chase rust… yeah, those were the days.
Another very very VERY rare car, this is a Borgward Isabella Coupe, and even more so: a MEXICAN-MADE Isabella Coupe. Borgward went down in UK, but the Mexican Government bought the tooling and started Borgward de México, until they realized they could not keep the production running and dumped it. This is the only Mexican Isabella I have ever seen, and it is so, so, SO sad.
Little Kadet having a wild night out in downtown Mexico City.
OK, this one is a mistery. I spotted this LONG ago when I did not have a decent camera with gigantic zoom, so I still wonder if it was real or a replica… but if it was a replica, it was pretty good because it looked to me as a real-deal Diablo. What do you think?
Very, VERY rare in Mexico Dodge A330 Hardtop, most of these were four doors and even those are quite rare, this one was in awesome condition and had Radir-Style Wheels! Ready for a Max Wedge swap, it already had the pushbutton trans (or it should at least, I have not been able to meet one in person to document if they had the pushbutton or other form of shifting) and would make a great, rare Mopar cruiser… or drag car.
1950-51 Buick Sedán, rare cars here, most cars sold from that era were Chevys, these were too expensive. I love those teeth.
Rice is back, just check this out, and again, WTF with Kas?
Rowr:
Phew… more later.
