you are really unstopable Dac and "mr 1/20 handheld" Rue... I dont even know what to say or where to start. Can I have the blue Mini real REAL big?
I just realized that I have not posted in two weeks. Where are my manners?
It will be quite a pedestrian post compared to the HK guys but it's what my photobucket spit up, so here we go:
Camping-equipped T2 bus with flip-out windows, westfalia top and all that:
a cute little Datsun that pops up from time to time near work, had had the primered fender forever:
Someone actually bought one!
1972 (I tink) Dodge Royal Monaco with flip-out headlamps, luxury at it's finest in its' day, it was the most luxurious car you could buy here in those years, as lincoln, cadillac and all those were absent in this country. Of course, elegance goes outta the window when you paint your luxury car metallic grape and add (real) Cragars:
one of only a handful of C70s I've seen in the street, and one of two or three ragtops. I dont know how much these cost, but for how incredibly good they look, they should sell way better, even in coupe form.
been ages since I last saw one of these:
pizza guy and VW:
Haha, I promise this thing will pop up later because I had already seen this car years ago, it's a rollcaged Fiat 500 shell with VW Bug running gear. This picture is somewhat recent.
1970 Mustang with late-model Mustang wheels shot from a bus:
indecently rare Renault 10. Mexico had it's share of Renault 8s, which is very similar but has 4 round headlamps as main difference. The 10 was a more luxurious (as if) model and just a handfull were imported, making finding one of these a really, really rare ocassion.
Very cute and rare here 1965 Mustang ragtop, rare because convertibles were only brought in by special order, so a handfull were sold. This thing was absolutely pristine.
I walked past this little 69 Nova I dont know how many times and deemed it not post-worthy due to it's I-6 nature, but inreality the car has enormous potential to be made into a low-buck street brawler, you wouldn't need to worry for bodywork or paint, it's pretty decent, all you need to do is add the big-block-four-speed combo of your choice, and make those pseudoCragars really wide in the rear:
This onw is the star of the bunch and pretty complicated to get, as it is one of several cars belonging to the president of the biggest media station in Mexico (which also owns the editorial I work for, hence why I was there) and it's always under full vigilance. The car at it's side is one of a handful of Aston Martins in Mexico City. This guy also owns the only Veyron in the country.
same place, a curious looking mini with fog lamps and enkeis... BAD PHOTO:
tattered mid-70s Mercedes ragtop, these things are starting to pop more and more, I think the lax importing laws in Mexico are bringing in rarer stuff than mid 90s Eclipses and Avengers:
1967 Ford Country Squire woodie, rare because we never got such a high-trim model here, so it must have been brought it from US, which makes it a problable big-block car. Been sitting there for at least 7 years.
for all I'm worth I'd say this thing under the tarp is a Thriumph TR7. Any takers?
the intercooler immediately caught my eye, then the big ugly Momos and all that stuff, but hey, it's a custom turbo. It's something you dont see everyday in here:
very mean looking Cayman S headed ot a gas station. The storm trooper dude asked for half a tank.
very awesome and mean-looking mexican 1972 Mach 1 Stang with very early production, big-ring Cragar wheels with knock-off caps! rear ones were pretty damned wide. I loved the sinister look of this car in black and silver, and it was a manual car too. I do hope it's engine is a freaking hellion, but I really doubt it, sadly.
finishing off the nice cars, a clean Golf. Pity the red drums.
and a couple ricers just becauyse... in fact, this next MKI doesn't look thaaaat bad (primer spots and rust aside), but the wheels were horrid.
Then, this, oh my god THIS:
There. As much quality as Hong Kong! haha!
