got damn this has been an epic page!!! Awesome posts Rue, Vince and Nismo!!! Tuttle, you owe me more muscle cars.

I have not been in this place for a while, darned job. But of course, and for a change, I'll post spots that I found very very recently!!!

Aguascalientes (in english you could translate it as "hotwaters") is a city I just recently visited thanks in part to some work that popped up there for the magazine, I went to photograph a stew of awesome muscle cars and hot rods and to meet a long-time friend who lives over there.

The city turned out to be an amazing place for car spotting too. All of this next post was found just wandering trough the city behind the owners of the cars as they led us to possible locations for the shoots. I didnt go spotting, this was all found just... like that.

I first found this bling-blong Chevy S10 with the Xtreme in a gas station in Irapuato, a long way to Aguascalientes still. Thanks Joey for clarifying that out.
aguas-002.jpg

Then on the road, the most intresting car I found was this... it was sad:
aguas-007.jpg

As the road went on, we found this:
aguas-004.jpg

and almost entering the city, this joke, which was even better because we were driving a 1995 Chrysler voyager. Jokes of painting it pink and putting stupid wheels on it haunted us troughout the entire trip:
aguas-006.jpg

In the outskirts of the city this cute VW Type 181 said hi from an intersection:
aguas-008.jpg

finally in Aguascalientes, we checked into the hotel, unloaded the stuff and went to get some breakfast. Walking out of the lobby, this greets us:
aguas-011.jpg

awesome Cal-Look-like mid 60s Bug with full chrome wheels and a heavy drop. Sorry for the horrible pictures, camera in automode will do that:
aguas-012.jpg

On the way to breakfast, out of the window I shoot this weird spectrapearlflop pink Nissan Hikari (dunno what's it called in other places, in here it was a Hikari) with Fondmetals:
aguas-014.jpg

And this EK hatch, very very rare to find a hatchback EK in Mexico, it was never offered in such a body style and is very coveted.
aguas-015.jpg

wandering around also yielded this Ford Maverick with undescribable wheels but in ok shape:
aguas-020.jpg

Then, we are taken by the local clubs to the old train station, which is now a museum of sorts, and where we are supposed to meet other cars and the main reason I went on this trip: an awesome rat rod:
aguas-089.jpg

And yeah, they are all there, but also in that place, I find these two:

First, this awesome little Datsun pick up in sad shape with stripe job and cool mag wheels:
aguas-021.jpg

And then, this even better very early model Renault 4 passenger wagon!!! check out how badly repaired this thing is... it's all rust! Also missing some glass and trim, but heck are these rare. I dont remember the last time I saw such an early model of one of these. I would have loved to make it justice but we had to move on to another location.
aguas-024.jpg

Such a location were the old maintenance shops of the old train station, that have been abandoned for 50-odd years and were the perfect location for the shoot. But this place is also used by the local police department as an impounding storage parking lot. In here have ended many cars that have been confiscated to the drug dealers, and of course there was something striking:
aguas-025.jpg

A picture of one of the local cars belonging to one of the clubs, it looked neat from that angle so oh snap:
aguas-100.jpg

We spent all day there and when we were finally over we headed downtown to have dinner and such. On the way, this blew by in an intersection, it looked way wicked that low and with the later-model cirrus grille grafted in, and it's BOV was loud as heck... I'd later discover it to be one of the cars belonging to a local club, but I did not have the time to do even a small photoshoot of it.
aguas-108.jpg

almost at the same time this cool lowered VW Bug with Empi Spyder knock-offs drives by, and of course I'm obligued:
aguas-110.jpg

And that was it for the first day. I missed shots of an awesome Datsun 510 wagon, an incredible brown 1964 Impala SS lowrider with full hydralic action and I dont even remember how many more cars.

Next day in the morning, a guy from the local clubs goes to pick up the other photog that went to the trip in this...
aguas-111.jpg

He went with the local ricers to shoot stuff out and I met later with the muscle car owners. In the way, I caught this neat black Maverick with Cragar mags:
aguas-107.jpg

this awesome awesome awesome and mean looking 3-series BMW with a bad-ass drop and humongous M6 wheels on staggered tires, unreal stance:
aguas-115.jpg

The worse picture in the world of an in-progress Montecarlo lowrider:
aguas-113.jpg

a destroyed Seat Leon Cupra, coincidentially one of the cars that had been in the previous day's meeting:
aguas-114.jpg

a riced-out Golf that belonged to one of the local clubs (that's their sticker in the rear window) which I pressume was headed towards the other photoshoot:
aguas-116.jpg

Yet another decent Maverick with fake Cragars:
aguas-117.jpg

And more rice:
aguas-118.jpg

Then, at one of the locations, while we were shooting this:
aguas-126.jpg

precisely at the back of the picture taker sat these:

First, an amazing 1948 Buick Sedanete two-door that seemed to be ready to hop in and drive away, but alas, was pretty neglected by now:
aguas-120.jpg

aguas-119.jpg

At it's side sat a 1954 Ford 4-door in pretty good shape too:
aguas-122.jpg

And in front of them, a neat 1958 Cadillac that was pretty tattered, it was the worse of the bunch.
aguas-125.jpg

If you look hard you can see the pink Challenger we're shooting and a cool gold 1971 Chevelle, which later looked like this:
aguas-085.jpg

While shooting such car, some stuff passes by, like this early Datsun Bluebird with full family load:
IMG_7956.jpg

And this of course deserved a snap!!!
IMG_7964.jpg

so, we finish off and go pick up the other photog, on the way there we also find this awesome old fire truck in the local station... I think it was an International:
IMG_8440.jpg

Then this pretty damn nice Renault 12 in great shape:
IMG_8438.jpg

And the stark contrast, a rough and riced Datsun:
IMG_8441.jpg

We arrive at the ricefest but the other photographer is not done yet. I go out and help him a tad:
IMG_8442.jpg

By the time we finish rain comes and I snap this on the way to get some food, a really really cool VW Brasilia with graff decoration... check out the door:
aguas-132.jpg

And the last spot of the trip, an awesome street rodded Ford F100 truck with huge wheels, a severe drop and shaved everything, along with other stuff, down by the showers.
aguas-135.jpg

Aaaaaaaand there goes. So yeah, I went on a roadtrip and it was pin-neat, and I'm bound to get back there in a couple months. Will show you of course (:

it was a heavy work spree man, but I'm back with a vengeance! almost 40 pictures in one post... I think it's my biggest one to date... of course, after the 1000th page

Unfortunately that's not an Xtreme, it's just an S-10 with the Xtreme kit on it. It does not have the ZQ8 suspension and the grills on the Xtreme were body colour.

Ah, thanks for the clarification about the blingey S10, Joey.

Nick, it is not a real T/A, it's a base car that received some bits here and there to make it look prettier, but that car utterly let me down. It looked neat but was incredibly, incredibly slow, and it's engine bay was ugly. it didn't even sound cool. I dunno, I guess I just can't find "cruiser" muscle cars appealing if they are only a pretty face. A muscle car with a tame engine is like the lamest thing on earth. The Chevelle is a completely different car, with a .60 over 454 with a nasty cam and reworked heads, boiled the balonies up to third.

Yesterday I saw a Caterham 7...I think. I was about 50 feet from an intersection when it went through perpendicular to where I was going. I saw it for about half a second. It sounded sick though!

I saw a Bentley Continental Speed......in Erie Pennsylvania. White convertible with tan leather that looked as creamy as caramel....ohhhh if I could only have one.

Cano, what's the story behind all of the abandoned cars? Does it become to expensive to own/maintain old cars and people abandon them or do the owners die and the families forget about them?....

At the BTCC at Oulton Park today:

911 Sport Classic
Renault R26.R
Honda Civic Jordan Edition

Doubt I'll ever see a Sport Classic again so I was very happy to see one as I love that car :)

Yeah, basically all of that you say holds true, I've heard a lot of stories that include such situation. Others are that the cars used to belong to a beloved person that has died so they can't bring themselves to sell it but they can't do anything about the car, so they just let it sit and rot, or that the car belongs to a member of the family that lives very far away and can't sell it nor they want to, or yeah, a basic lack of money and time, and sometimes absolute lack of interest... and in the case of some of the cars I've posted here (not in the previous post, but in several of mine), said car has been driven into the spot it now sits in and has just been abandoned there... maybe after a car robbery or something like that. there are a lot of stories about abandoned cars, but they are all beautiful in my eyes.

First off, some Home Depot spots.

Going to, in the parking lot at, and coming home from, the Automezzi. Taken with two different cameras, if you can't tell :indiff:. The Goodguys Rod & Custom Show ends today as well, hence all the classics on the freeway. Between the Denver Auto Show, Automezzi, Concours & an Accord tuner BBQ (both next Sunday, pics to come), and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb I'm spending around $100 on car events, so I skipped Goodguys this year.

First-gen Stangs aren't exactly rare, but this one was in excellent condition. Some subtle flames on the side too, you can kinda see. Should've taken a picture of the cool little buggy on the trailer in front of it.

Pics from the show will be up in the Events thread in a bit. And typical, I forgot to walk around Denver metro for some good car spotting while I was in town... I'll keep reminding myself until next Sunday.

awesome Studebaker Nismo!!! it must be around 1926 or 27... by gosh, what a threat to see such a car driving in the streets. awesome, one of the spots of the thread for me. The T or A is an A, about 1929, and it is also one hell of a spot to see in the streets because it's so stock...but the Stude is way rarer. The old Cadoo is like a 1966, Impala is a 65 as is the Barracuda. Awesome spots all.

Cyborg, nice windshield crack... er, i mean, Cali Special, haha; your unknown is a 1949 Ford, and I think your two-tone Buick is a Wildcat, but I'm not sure. And I'd skip the freaking Denver show in a beat to attend Goodguys.

What a great page! So much to take in. In the meantime here are mine from yesterday.

wow, the E-Type is so immaculate it turna everything around it to B/W!!! It's so immaculate it's Technicolour!!!

mwehehe... I like the Porsche.

This was big for me a couple of days back...

Whoah. Easily one of my top-ten favorite cars of all time, it was parked right outside of my store with little/no fanfare whatsoever. In the hour or so that I saw it out there before I took the pictures, only one other guy stopped and looked. Someone around town has taste, that's for sure.

Not. Definitely not. Wrong rear bumper, wrong ///M badge, no lip on the trunk. I admire the guy for trying though.

A mixed bag from a bike ride I took yesterday around where I live. The sun was out when I left the house but as soon as I took my camera out the cloud set in and it was unaturally dark for the time of day. The highlights were a yellow Murcielago SV that passed by on the other side of the road and a white R34 GT-R completely stock but it was so far away the photo's not worth posting up

And a couple of Hiaces for the van fans. The pinky/purple one was sporting a sticker of some local martial arts club and reminded me of something out of Grand Theft Auto
