So I always race on Hard, using elite handling mode, no driving aids (or HUD or best line for that matter). Anyway I started the supra one make race on bathurst, and for some reason I found it quite challenging. Checked the options and realised the difficulty was on easy.

Heres the issue, I turned the difficulty back up to hard, and as soon as I did that I felt like the AI got worse, not as quick, making more mistakes etc...

So it seems (to me atleast) that the game is easier on hard than it is on easy, has anyone else noticed this or am I just a special little boy?

No i noticed that also.

Cars crash into each-other at the beginning of the race. They are slow, easy to overtake. But not in every race, and every class. For example if you pick cars like 911 GT3 RSR then your rivals are slow, pick faster car like Zonda or Huraya and there is a little harder. Pick Works Tuned cars and it's even tougher.

I really can't get my head round this 'elite' handling mode, all assists off thing.

Is it just a willie-waving exercise, or am I missing something ?

Personally I set the cars and handling up to be what I consider the best representation of the real-life driving experience. If it means having a bit of traction control in and steering assist, so what ? That's what real cars have.

Yes, I put the AI on 'hard', brake assist off (as obviously it's totally unnatural), ...likewise with the 'best line' now that I've got to know the tracks.

The tuning aspect is something I'm really enjoying now, as I do have an interest in cars and their set-ups. I drive some pretty exotic REAL cars on a daily basis, and also have lots of racing driver friends.

My task (so I thought) then is to get around the track as quickly as I can, knock seconds off my previous best times, and hopefully win races against the best opponents...on or offline.

Help me out on this someone.

A decent wheel for your Xbox :) I've been checking all difficulties and driving modes, from easy to elite. Did not noticed any difference from Basic driving style to Elite. Only thing i can saw was that on Elite you have all assists off. When you change from Elite to PRO there is few of those turned on, and if you go from Elite to basic mode then you can have all assists on, they are set automatically. But there is easy way to shut them down, and i did. But i can't really say what is the difference in driving mode, style of driving. There is no noticeable difference like it was in first shift 1.

The difference is the number of assists turned on.

About the AI I play it on hard since the 1st race so I can't tell... Some 1st corners are really frustrating to make like in Miami (both ways)... but hey, nothing 50 restarts can't solve

I'm trying to do the McLaren event at the Nurburgring now, and the first few corners make me want to scream.

How come? It's not that bad. Could not be worse then Zonda F :ouch: Practice a little, it works better on Nordschleife than in City circuits.

Car drives fine, the AI cars all trying to be in the same spot at the same time (and it happens to be where I am), sucks. Plus the track is so tight even when I try to pass clean they still do me dirty.

I've had a bit more practice and used better tunes since I posed that question.

Now I drive with all assists off on all 4wd cars, but need stability control on most RWD ones, especially when competing online, as things get a bit frantic there, and throttle control sometimes just goes out the window.

I have AI set to hard, because it polishes your skills better IMO.

I just use pre-set tunes with variations in gearing and downforce for each track type (short, fast straights etc).

What I do find frustrating is not having enough time to turn on or off stability control when lining up for an online race...because some **** changes the car type 10 seconds before race start. :irked:
