I was incredibly cheesed how I kept screwing up the turn after the jump. I DID improve my time to somewhere around 37.745 at one point.

I just really don't like driving Group B cars... at all.

I'll update your time then, assuming you used the Quattro during that attempt?

And I only really like driving Group B cars (well, the Quattro and Metro) on certain tracks and stages, but they aren't as nice to drive as some of the cars from other classes.

I'll try posting a stage time later, by the way. I chose this location and class because I believe that this combo lead to me experiencing some of the most exhilarating online races I've had in DiRT3. Plus I want to see if my first choice (Abarth) can do better than the Kadett.

Nah don't bother; I'm late already and it wasn't enough to change my position on the leaderboard anyway :P

I had a feeling that was the case, which is why I asked.

EDIT:
1:27.609 - Fiat Abarth
1:26.275 - Opel Kadett

And that includes the Escort MK II. So in short, the only cars eligible for this weeks Time Trail are the Fiat Abarth and the Opel Kadett.

Oh wow, I truly searched high and low around the internet and didn't see the Ford as a DLC, so sorry about that :dunce:

Just gave this a quick go, where's the best place to take a photo with the assists thing? The results screen doesn't show it, and there may be situations later where I can't beat a time set on a track with settings or DLC car earlier in my dirt career which rules out the leaderboard? This time I set a new PB, so I'll keep it under wraps for now and can take a picture of it later when I submit my final time.

AOS should be pleased also, I wasn't going to submit then but my internet is inconsistently lately so a TT fits the circumstances.

There's no need for proof pictures this time around. Just post the time you see after you finish a stage/lap.

I write down the stage result each time I improve before posting my fastest time here, just so you all know.

Ok, the OP just mentioned if people were curious to take a photo and I didn't know if I had to do it on the session results which would mean before quitting game.

1:23.990 - Fiat 131 Abarth

On a side note, i'm currently the fastest on the leaderboards on this track with the Fiat 131. :D

Oh and i know you ended week 1 already, but i got a 37.303 in the Audi Quattro.

Thats nice to know but the time still cannot be accepted anymore because it's way past due date.

Any indications of which car is superior here yet? I'll be using the Opel for the purpose of styling seeing as the Escort is not allowed, but I've never really tried the Fiat and we all know by now despite the stats you can never tell which car will be best in Dirt without trying. I may have a go with the Fiat at some point for pure comparison sake and submit my Opel time even if it's slightly slower anyway.

Wow, someone actually beat Wilk's time?

Both times are pretty impressive, and I wish I could add your time for week 1, but no can do sadly.

My 70s rally car of choice is usually the Fiat, and the obvious difference I can see is that the Fiat is much more stable than the Opel. I felt that I would be able to set a faster time in the Fiat though at first, but somehow I managed to get a far better stage time with the Opel, even if it's skittish in comparison.

I did get the impression that the Opel was making up more time in the straight sections, although if you can keep it in control through the corners as well, then you should be able to get a quick time. I reckon I should try and beat my PB with the Fiat next, just to see if I can beat my Opel time.

We got someone who can take down wilk.... :P

I'll get on this Wednesday afternoon at the earliest

:D lol.

Wilk489 - Opel Kadett GT/E - 1:23.975

I definitely like the feel of the Opel compared to the Fiat. With the Fiat it just felt like the back end would step out a lot more on me and scrub all my speed.

What are some tricky sections I should pay more attention to? Come on, assist me in beating you :D

A lot of time I shaved was working on getting down the tight S curve a little ways before sector 2(I think) and then section from that sweeping left(left 3 I think) to where you switch to pavement.

I was using this guy's ghost as a judge to how I was doing. I think they were like #42 on the leader board. Fiat with no assists and ran like a 1:23.880. I found I could beat them everywhere, but where you transfer to pavement.

I know I'm leaving about a tenth maybe a little less on the table because my best time I slightly slid out transferring to pavement. I did get a little bit better run where I transferred to the pavement a bit better, but kinda ran off the road on the second to last turn and that Fiat ghost passed me so I restarted before the finish lol.

Huh, I always felt it was the opposite. The Fiat feels more stable, whereas the Opel's back end would have a tendency to slide out. That being said, the Opel does actually feel much faster so long as I keep it from sliding too much.

Well due to imminent hard drive failure on my laptop, I can no longer submit (on university computer now, so I don't know my time and won't be around to submit it most likely).

jimftr2 - Opel Kadett GT/E - 1:22.793

Thoguht i'd try out the opel, it's much more of a rally car than the fiat, love driving it.

**EDIT** Bought the Stratos, I got the WR. :) (I'm not using this time becasue it's dlc obviously, just wanted to see what time i could get)

My Opel Kadett time still stands.

For those losing time, the 90 degree angle turn at the start of the stage needs to be done with as little drifting as possible, try different entry angles to see which one is fastest for you, i stay to the middle-right of the track and turn in a bit before the tree. It's quite a tricky track where you need to really control the car right, drifting will lose you lots of time no matter what corner and it can affect your whole lap.

Just got the WR at kakaristo - finland. This was also the stratos.
Lankamaa WR just beat. :D

Ah, well that is a shame. I hope you can overcome that problem soon.

We got someone who can take down wilk....

It seems that way, even though I never thought it would be possible. This could lead to some interesting tussles for top spot.

Now, if we could just get up there ourselves and fight for the lead...

Maybe you could try 2 or 3 different tracks a week, rather than 1. This would make people more involved i think.

Also, Every once in a while e.g. every 4 weeks or so we could have races for people in the top 6. Just a suggestion btw.

Of course we would need a few more active people to make it worthwhile.

Well, perhaps I could have 2 or 3 stages each week, and those change to another set of stages after one week. I haven't given it any thought though, but it's an interesting idea.

Yeah, if the EotW gets enough people taking part, say, double figures, then that could be something I'd consider. Choosing a date that's okay for those participating would be a bit of a problem though.
