Dirt Rally 2.0 car list

Slightly off-topic, but I have to admit it's a bit of a painful sight to see that a rally game has more GT4 models than we have in FM7...

Also, boo to pre-order-only Kadett C, that was my favorite H2 RWD in D4.

Hey man, just popped on here to clarify - we asked this question over at the official forums and the Opel is not DLC, it's just added to the garage on Day 1 for people buying from a certain retailer (confirmed by the community manager). It will be available in game to everyone just the same as any other car.

I'm into more exotic cars I guess so it would be nice to see things like the Group B Citroen BX, Opel Manta, Ferrari 308, Porsche 911, 959 etc. I guess it's all about the licensing but a couple of others are a little glaring in their absence such as the Lancia 037 and original Mini. I guess there's always DLC.

EDIT: Whups I guess the MINI Cooper S is an original Mini? And the DS is a very cool inclusion.

I'd be amazed if the 037 and Opel Manta didn't make it in to the first DLC pack. Makes sense for them to save this class for special attention IMO, seeing as it wasn't quite 'right' in DR1 or D4, so no problem with them taking more time to tweak it. Oh, and your interest in exotic cars may be 'piqued' by news that they've been recording the sounds for the Porsche 911 SC RS, which is a Group B car that ran in the mid 80s.

So true...
I do expect pre-order cars available as paid DLC later, I think this is what they said about the 911 R-GT

The 2014 911 RGT is the only pre-order car and it will be available to purchase on its own 60 days after launch (so end of April).

Hmm about those DLC cars. Maybe Codies find themselves in some difficulties in terms of licensing certain cars. Surely now that the Official WRC game has announced to include historic models. Could it therefore be that the 037 won't even make it into DR2.0? What you guys think?

Given that there has been no issue licensing the cars either side of the early Group B era I personally don't think there would be any licensing restrictions on historic models.

Up until the introduction of the WRCar regulation (in 1997) the various car classes (i.e. Group A, Group B etc.) were non-specific. World Rally Cars are directly connected to the World Rally Championship and, in my personal opinion, that is why they have the additional licensing woes attached to them.

I am disappointed that there are no WRCars in game but, as said, the R5's are on the same pace as all but the latter 2.0L and 1.6L WRCars so I am not too concerned. Group A has made the cut as well: their absence would definitely make me think twice about a purchase!

You are probably right but it still could come down to the cars the official WRC game has specifically licensed, that those cars won't appear in Dirt Rally? That could be the struggle for those 2000 WRC machines. The WRC game could have picked up the champion machinery as well which could influence Codies available choices.

I am still hoping that we might see the 2000cc class return via DLC later on. I must confess that I am surprised that neither Group B RWD and F2 are in the "base" game (especially given how close the car total is to the promised number), but hopefully the delay is because the handling on those two classes is being polished and we get them as DLC.

I surely would be nice if those cars would make a return. If not then I imagine there will be more exotic and rare rallycars popin up. The base game has quite a few nice surprises :D

There have definitely been hints that the 2000 class will return but no confirmation. It was my most used class in the first game so hopefully it does come back and with more cars.

I'm convinced there are some licensing issues though with post 2000 WRCars.

It was definitely one of my most used classes in DR though, with the introduction of the R5's, I used them a lot less in D4. Would be great to have them back though, especially if they came back in greater numbers!

Yeah I agree. Hopefully DR2.0 will do well and CM will have enough money to throw at the problem to solve it!

So yes some cars are dearly missing. But the addition of the Porsche and the Aston Martin are really good.

The 2001 Impreza and others from that area would be very nice though.

As @tbtstt say, it's probably not a coincidence that they've always struggled for 2000s equipment (I'm sure the Peugeot 206 would have been in DR or D4 otherwise) that those cars are built to "WRC" ruleset instead of the 'global' rules categories that were in use <1997. It's probably a grey area, because they're used all over in all sorts of regional championships, but Personally, I don't expect them to come back (unlike the Group B RWD) - I think it's the price to pay for the quality of stages we have.

I'd be happy with one. The 2003 Solberg one. Ids die with excitement if we also got the 1998 McRae one.
Yes and YES.

Although it is a Championship winning car the S7 (2001) Impreza WRCar is one of my least favourite Impreza World Rally Cars (the 2008 S14 being the other one).

Would love to see the S9 (2003) and S5 (1998) make it to the game. Would think the S12b (2007) would be the most appropriate Impreza to add though as it would be the perfect partner for the 2007 Focus!

I think they should scrap the 2007 car anyway for the game. Focus on one era instead of melting two together. If they stuck with the 2001 Impreza, then go with the 2001 Focus, 206 and either the Octavia or the Accent.

If it was up to me I'd see them have 2004 cars, Xsara, Impreza, 307cc and Accent.

I actually disagree with you there. The latter 2.0L WRCars were as fast as that generation of WRCar got, so I'd like to see them back: that said I would like to see at least one car keeping the 2007 Focus company!

Oh yeh I meant if we could have both I'd be happy :D Don't get me wrong I still love the latter era, it's just the variety I think it lacks. Only 3 manufacturer entered teams. Would still be great to have them.

That's still in doubt at the moment. It was initially said 2008, then later corrected to 2001, but that correction directly contradicts the blog post on the Codemasters website.

Looks like we'll have to wait for confirmation. Although as it was written by the same person it may well be true.

Confirmation awaits .

Lancia 037 and Porsche 911 SC added to Group B RWD in season 2 perhaps?

Possibility. The 911 SC has been audio recorded hasn't it?

If they go 6 again then perhaps those 2, 2 group B RX cars (metro and rs200) and then the Bennett's RX Mini plus a surprise? Maybe the classic mini RX or something .

Does anyone know if Codemasters recorded the Delta S4. It had a ‘placeholder’ sound in the previous Dirt. Same for the 205 T16 E2, although that didn’t sound too bad.

Looks to be confirmed to be the 2008 S14 Scooby. Not my first choice but it was quite fun to drive in Gran Turismo 5 and Sebastian Loeb RallyEvo.

Has also been told that the 2001 Impreza will come in another season.

Might not be my first choice either, but glad to have a contemporary to do battle with the C4 and Focus, rather than a car half a decade older in the same class.

No definitely not first choice but it's almost a full on WRC 2008 slugfest with the C4 and Focus, will almost be like the 2008 WRC game we never got. 6 of the 15 rallies for that year isn't a bad return either.
