Oh man, I forgot how great that was. Those were the best PD days. There was also the great runs along the Amalfi coast and the other narrow point to point in an Italian town somewhere but I forget the name.

Thanks for sharing that and bringing back some great memories.

Citta di aria (city of air literally) which however in reality it is Assisi in Umbria.

Thank you CM for this tribute package, really loving it. Nice timing too, i am forced home all day long due to coronavirus quarantine till end of april... i plan to play a lot...

I just completed the monthly event in the R2 cars. I've never driven them before, and as a result got punctures in Poland. First one was at the end of stage 2, which wasn't too bad because I finished the stage just after the tire went. But the next was in the 1st km of the very next stage... Which was 16km long. So with no more spare tires (I never even need one spare tire, let alone two) I had to endure the whole stage trying to anticipate which way the car would try to hurdle itself at the scenery in each right hand turn. At some points I was actually going relatively fast and the car would almost feel drivable, but then I'd forget which tire was burst and spin out because I'm smart. By the end of the stage I lost minutes upon minutes and sat barely in the top 4000, from there it was a recovery drive. Fortunately the next rally was NZ, which I'm culturally obliged to perform well at. :P And that I did, by the end I was in the top 1000. Higher than I was when I got my punctures. And I didn't even have that good of a run, I had a big roll in one stage, and lost heaps of time trying to turn around a few times. The game also decided to forget how to connect and risked losing me multiple stage times. 'Cos yay Racenet.

Then when Spain came around, I'd unlocked engine upgrades. I don't know how much of a difference they make, but even though I haven't driven at Spain since launch I made another 500 places on the leaderboard and ended up in the top 600 by the end. Surely it's the upgrades that made that difference? I'm not a slow driver, but I didn't even know where I was going most of the time. All that was left was Argentina, and I was pretty consistent to my amazement. By the end I'm in around 420th on the leaderboard (for now), which I'm pretty happy with all things considered. I'm also now finding out that the game's online browser leaderboard is terrible for only showing 10 positions at a time, and not offering a "find my time" or a specific page search.

Not a lot of people even complete this longer events, so even if you just drive (not race) through all the stages and don't collect time penalties you will finish in pretty good place ;)

Yeah, I did notice that according to the leaderboards, of 10700 starters only around 4200 of them finished. Though I don't really trust that because the amount of entries sometimes goes up from one stage to the next. But for my ego I'll assume it's correct, because that would still put me in the top 10%-15%. :P Though realistically, if I go to the final stage on the community page and go to the last page, there's just pages upon pages of identical times, so I assume they didn't finish either.

Here's a thought going forwards for the Historic & Gp B cars/events; instead of co-driver pace notes, they give you info based on maps/route info.

Pace notes have been in use since the 1960's, and arguably the first people to use them were Moss and Jenkins in the '55 Mille Miglia.

Yes, I'm aware of that - Jenks with his specially designed pace notes rolling device.
I just think it would be interesting to see it added, as there is a difference in how people drive to notes compared to maps; you're not getting wholly accurate info, so drive accordingly.
It was watching an old RAC Rally on YouTube got me thinking - they were blind until about 1990 when notes were allowed on the Sunday stages, and then for the whole event as other WRC events.

I have to say that after they added all the rallies from dr1 and the Colin's scenario mode, for me it is the best rally game i have ever played, visual and gameplay wise.

The only big issue is the total absence of a proper career mode f1 games like. The actual mode is just senseless.

The other issue is really minor but it really disturbs me... the absence of grey shades in new zeland gravel :)

Agree, but the RAC was an outlier in that regard, interestingly Motorsport magazine has a lot of its old articles online and they have one from the 1190 RAC about just this.

On this topic, you should give Dakar 18 a go, as this presents a very different approach to navigation, being closer to the hazard and navigation notes rather than full pace notes.

Did anyone else notice the stay at home advertisements? Very cool

I bought the Day One edition when it first came out, then promptly forgot about it because I was busy with GT Sport and PC2. Dug it out again recently, and now I'm having a blast, particularly in those cute little FWD hatchbacks. And, if I'm getting pretty good, if I do say so myself. :sly:

You should play dailies to find out where you stand realistically ;)

Great rally game (probably the best ever). Kinda average rally cross game.
What rallycross game is better? DR2.0 has almost all of the tracks from the recent seasons of the World Rallycross Championship, and almost every car you could want. Sure there's always room for improvement (which could be said about pretty much anything), but I don't see any better rallycross games on the market.

I just think the rally cross part isn’t good enough. Not bad either.

Yeah, but what is there to even compare it to?

Imagine eating bread for the first time in your life, but the bread has spots of mold on it. Would you automatically like that bread simply because it's the only bread you ever had?

Rally cross in DR2 isn't nearly as bad as moldy bread, but the line of thinking is what matters here.

SLRE, PC2, iRacing, and V-Rally 4 all have Rallycross of some type if comparisons need made. Heck even GTS kind of has Rallycross.

Personally not that into Rallycross so can’t be sharing any good insight or expertise on the matter, but DR2.0 seems closest to the real deal...maybe because CM has the Rx license.

I have a question about the tiers for daily/weekly/monthly challenges. Are these pre-set based on target times, or do they fluctuate based on how many people participate and what times they get?

They are based on the times of the players who participate. Also despite appearances, they aren't strictly linear. As far as I can tell, the top tier is actually the top 1/8 (12.5%) of all players who did the event.

Oh good, I just finished some and was at the top end of tier 4 and quite worried for a minute. Hopefully with the game coming to PS+ it'll get some more participants to bring the averages down a bit.

I really like the Rally Cross in DR2, but then again I loved it in DR. I think it's an intense challenge & it captures the extreme nature of the sport quite well, I certainly don't think it's moldy at all !!

Come to think of it, Ive liked all the Rally Cross in all of the games this gen.
