Disappointed in GT7

Unless you don't have a working PS4, I don't see any point in spending $700 on a console, who's game library consists of mostly cross gen titles at the moment.

Let alone paying that much money for just one cross-gen racing game.

I tried out some games on the PS5 and aside from the better loading times & somewhat better performance, it ain't worth it in my opinion. Maybe after 6 months or so when proper current gen only games starts coming out but right now? Not really.

Maybe I'm saying this becaue i already own a $2K PC that i built 2 years ago, one that thankfully is still kinda decent enough.
Many of us actually never bought a PS4 because GT Sport wasn't really a main GT title. Now with the PS5 we can actually play the PS4 titles if we want to.

I was only refering to those who already owned a PS4 prior to buying a PS5.

And besides, we're on a Gran Turismo forum, a forum about a PlayStation exclusive racing series and one that would only really attracts the biggest hardcore fans within the entire community.

We are also talking about the 4th best selling game console in the entire globe so I'm fairly sure that the majority of people within GT7's sub forum have already owned a PS4 at some point.

What does Fanatec have to do with this?

I assume that as OP mentioned the Fanatec wheel, they're mainly upset at PD nerfing the force-feedback on certain wheels, including Fanatec wheels.

PD have already addressed the issue and stated it will be worked on. They've stated it was reduced on certain wheels due to the potential for injury, so quite likely that someone managed to hurt themselves and laid the blame on PD, not their own settings ('cause you can adjust the strength of feedback), so PD have to be seen to be taking action to prevent further injury.

I usually buy a new console when a new GT comes out on it but the PS5 was such a pain in the arse to source plus a few near misses had me saying bollocks to it all. I'll just wait until they're on the shelves to get one. Which I definitely will.

As for GT7, I suppose I was always going to buy it with the old GT's being fun to play and was unashamedly a fanboy so I chucked a pre order in. I've read enough stories of games shipping before they're ready so I can only blame myself for that. Never again.

I guess I'm saying I won't regret buying a PS5 and my penance for preordering GT7 is to wait till I feel it's in a much better state. 11 weeks and counting so far but I've waited 5 years already. A few more months won't hurt.

I've got to say I came very close to deleting GT7 after they hid the microtransactions, though. That really slapped the rose tinted specs off and I'm still pissed about it. The game is what it is but knowing those outrageously expensive microtransactions are still there will always sour the experience.

It is! I mean, not necessarily for GT7 alone, but as someone that was happy with my old PC, then spend 4× the cost of a PS5 on a new PC, going back to the old one now (which I still do most days) is absolutely tortuous!!! It's really easy to get used to the faster times without noticing, until you go back to how it was!
It does seem nice, but not "$500" nice. I'd much rather get a Switch OLED before I get a PS5, especially since I'm a Pokemon fan.

I also didnt own a PS4, so its either spend money on a used PS4 or just get the latest and greatest, I got the PS5. Like you I also built a gaming rig 2 years ago and use it the most.

8th gen won't be supported forever, so it's probably good that you were able to get PS5 earlier on in the current gen.
I don’t have a PS5 yet, but will get one as soon as they are available from stores again. I purchased GT7 for my PS4 Pro and paid extra for GT7 because I bought the PS5 entitlement bundle knowing I will keep playing GT7 on PS5 until the next GT comes out, and as you mention, PS 8th Gen will cease to be supported sooner or later. Don’t regret buying GT7 one bit, it’s all I’ve played since it released and I love it.

PS5 is the best console i ever owned, i regret purchasing GT7 right now, in these awful conditions ( and thankfully i bought my copy as used one, i'm glad about it, so f_ck you, PD. ).

P.S:.....and people should really STOP to pre-order games, just stop...otherwise the "milking" at the community by publishers will get worse year after year.

The PS5 is one of the best consoles ever made.

I own both the Series X and the PS5. IMO, the PS5 offers a more consistent feature set than the Series X, with more better things that matter to me. The PS5 felt like a significant upgrade to the PS4 Pro, whereas the Series X didn't give me that feel compared to the One X. The DualSense alone is enough to put the PS5 in a higher level than the Series X and its lower specced sibling Series S.

So, do I regret buying a PS5 because of the current state of GT7? Not at all. While the support has been a little too slow for my taste, I've enjoyed the game a lot in these 3 months. The only "difficult" time was when they nerfed the payout, but even then I was there at Sardegna Windmills testing different rally tunes and trying to get that Audi to work. And it was fun.

Also the PS5 has enabled me access to Sony's exclusives, including God of War which is one of the best games I've ever played. It has changed my perspective in gaming and I'm happier for it.

I bought GT7 steel case and a PS5 thanks to the nostalgic teaser inspired in GT1 intro.

And I have a G29 somewhere but I dont have the space to properly istall a seat 😭

I have a PS4, and G29 mounted on a playseat. It's old, but works well for me.

I had my PS5 at launch so I don't regret that... if anything I wish I waited for gt7 to go on sale instead of buying on release day... I am happy I passed on a wheel...I thought about buying one but it's just not worth the heavy price tag for me... and it sucks gt7 nerfed all wheels smh

I have bought a PS5 and fanatec wheel and GT7 at a large price.

And i very much regret it now.

SONY are you listening?
Fanatec are you listening?

I have bought every playstation since PS1 but after this GT7 FIASCO i want to sell it all and go X-Box and Forza horizon.

Utterly disappointed
Why would you buy an entire console purely because of one game?

I bought the PS5 & had it day 1 because it was the logical progression from PS4 loud aeroplane garbage fans & heat.

Even if I never played a single ps5 game, I wouldn't regret buying it because the controller is significantly better, the console is better in every way & runs games quiet as hell, plus it looks great with the dbrand darkplates 2.0

But I have played other ps5 games, & apart from the woke garbage that was Horizon FW, & the mediocre GT7 , they've all been great.

Got my PS5 direct from Sony, paid $400. No regrets. Only time I ever really enjoyed XBOX was in the Project Gotham Racing days. They haven't had anything that interests me to warrant buying another.
