So, what liveries or themes seems to be overdone/done to the death it's getting boring for you?

I'll get a quick list from my observation:
Rothmans liveries (#GTSLivery on Twitter was full of this, to the point there's an all-Rothmans livery race by Japanese players using the hashtag)
Ayrton Senna cars (especially now with the F1500T-A being here)
Paul Walker/F&F cars
Castrol Toyota liveries

Anything else that fits the "done to death" category?

Not sure how many Rothmans liveries I've seen, but for Senna liveries on the F1500T-A, I've seen John Player Special (Lotus 97T), Marlboro (Various McLarens) and Camel (Lotus 99T), and I've definitely seen at least one F&F Skyline. Not sure how many Castrol Toyotas I've seen. The F1500T-A is naturally a magnet for replicas of old F1 liveries.

Gulf is one that's probably been done to death, though I'd be a hypocrite there given that I have released such a livery for the Group 3 Beetle. But that's the only Gulf livery I actually show off publicly.

Someone should make a John Cena Special livery for the F1500T-A. But you can't see me using it.

i never want to see another can of monster energy drink or red bull in my life
The only Red Bull livery I'm probably ever making is for the Peugeot L750R, and that was for a photomode competition.

I made a parody of some of the overdone liveries for a series I'm in:

- Red Bull
- Falken
- Calsonic R32
- Renown LM55
- Gulf
- Martini
- ...

But I don't think they are "overdone", I'd rather say "widespread". When you're a motorsports fan and a livery editor user, at some point you want to have a go at your favourite/iconic liveries. And once it is done, why not share it if you think it deserves it ?

Plus, for some who want the "likes", iconic liveries will appeal to more people, despite being already seen a lot and sometimes very easy to make.

My only rant would be for the anime girls liveries. Hats off to the creators of the decals, but people throwing some random bikini girl stickers on a car doesn't make a "livery". But even in this category, there is still some jewels with a lot of effects, racing dedication and graphism knowledge.

Edit : And I forgot rusty buses/cars !

Indeed there are several sponsors who have sponsored a lot of cars wich are widespread amoungt the racing fans.

I do not need to see the "thank you ....... hundred/thousand followers", that doesn't add annything imo.
Glow in the dark cars, although atisticly very well layed out don't tickle my fancy.

In general you see a lot of liveries of succesfull cas/drivers in combination with iconic liveries or highly exposed cars/drivers in the media.
People like to identify themselves more with succes rather then with a backmarker

Rowe oil, blue Impreza's, Repsol,, BWT pink, Jägermeister etc are used a lot too.

That is just too good. I've definitely seen some Marlboro and Martini cars, and I've even seen a full on Hatsune Miku Z4 GT3.

Is this what Harvey Dent races?

I am guilty of putting WR Blue on Imprezas. And I do have a 911 RSR with a Jägermeister livery.

And why not? They are iconic :). Its just that I've seen a whole lot of these liveries here ingame but also as liveries for slotcars / model kits over the years.

Gulf is the one that baffles me. It's a horrid colour and most designs are so simple it just seems like it has been done for the sake of it.

I'm not really fussed about how overdone liveries are... I get that people want to have a go at making a livery they like, and all too often, if you do go online to find one before making it, you end up with a livery that looked okay in the thumbnail, but once on the car doesn't look very good... so you end up making your own anyway.

There are 'liveries', that I don't like though. I think most Anime girl liveries look pretty rubbish - not that I mind anime girls or anything, I just think a moving car is a poor canvas for them, fake body/vents/grilles/panels parts as decals, and people that just don't know when enough is enough with the fake rust, and fake dirt...

... but people can make what they want to make, that's what the livery editor is there for.

And of course people would go recreate iconic liveries. Somewhere on the actual GT website there was a screenshot of a Gulf 911 GT3 in the livery editor. I considered a Martini Cayman GT4 but decided against it. I have seen such a car in real life. While there are a lot of iconic Porsche liveries the only one I've done is a Jagermeister 911. My LMP2000 919 doesn't count as the LMP2000 barely had much of a livery to begin with.

I've no problem with people making the same liveries, but its when they do a half arsed version, that goes on to be the most popular.

For example. For all the Falken liveries people upload, only 5-10% are acutally any good. Most have the wrong colours, the wrong shaped or wrong number of scallops or no scallops at all (just a fade from teal to blue).

Same goes for most other liveries. People do replicas of cars yet use the wrong period correct decals if its an older car.

Oh man, don't get me started on some of the Jeff Koons E92 M3 GT2 Art Car liveries... :odd: In fact quite a few of the Art Car liveries are pretty bad - though to be fair, I find it fun looking at them, to see how people solved some of the challenges that replicating complex, flowing liveries can create... and I'll say right now, I'm fully open to criticism on my efforts so far, I know they're not perfect**

I get that some liveries are tricky, difficult or simply technically impossible within the game, so I'm not criticizing people for having a go, what I don't understand is why they end up with 10,000 likes!

** I'm pretty colourblind too, so that can make for some really glaring mistakes :D

Instead I find more annoying messages "Wow nice work mate would you like to have a look at my liverys" - "Like and reposted" - "please follow me" This is ridiculous.PD should remove the button "reposted".What do you think?
Instead of totally removing the "repost" button, I'd rather they only allow a limited amount of repost per day.

I really like when someone repost a good pic or livery, then I get to see the profile and find some great work. It helps sharing good work without the time limitation of the discover section.

My rule is : I only repost one or two pieces for each profile, and I share between 1 and 5 profiles a day. Even if there is 60 good things to see on its page, my opinion is "I show you what I liked, check it out". What annoys me is people reposting 40 pics of the same guy, or 40 profiles in five minutes... Then I can't see anything else on my activity feed and I miss the work of peaple I really follow.

You agree with your proposal to republish ... but as you can see there are liveries that take an avalanche of "like" just because the system is wrong.Type this "livery"

They incentivised liking liveries with in game rewards, the easiest thing to do is then just to like the most popular 'trending' liveries, I'm pretty sure a lot of players didn't even look at what they were liking.

Over 13k likes for this livery? Dear god :scared::lol:

These people think like politicians .. I put you "like" and "republish" so they vote your livery.

I pretty much unfollowed all people, except my closer friends, because of that.
I just can't stand to see my feed spammed with hundreds of reposts.

Very early days liveries made their way to the trending page and stayed there. That's why you have some popular liveries with a lot of likes just because they were first, not because they were good.

You're right with the "1000 liveries / 1000 pics liked" achievement...
(at least it not our work which need to be liked, or we'll end up with teams of "If you like mine I like yours")

From my own perspective, racing liveries such as Rothmans, Marlboro, JPS, Gulf, Martini etc doesn't look that boring to be honest. Perhaps because they were iconic color schemes in the world and fans of motorsport are already familiar with it also those liveries could be considered as timeless image/signature on certain brand/company. For example, when you think of Martini then what you have in mind at first is blue and red stripes with white base color scheme. Those liveries were managed to give strong brand image to people's head because specific color schemes used in their branding/sponsorship and so it became widely popular.

About anime liveries, imo some were pretty basic and more effort is needed instead of simply slapping anime character and call it a day. Then some were have nice tricks with color schemes, pattern and lines. I'm fine with both tbh, but it is the later that I called as proper "itasha" since the actual purpose of itasha is to grab public attention with striking appearence with significant artistic effort and skills while in the same time shows your likeness and admiration towards certain fictional character to others. At least that what I thought about what itasha supposed to be. It is not about playing around with random characters and turn it into childish and cheesy stuff, but rather complex, creative and artistic work for those who understand I think.

Of course I do understand some people feel quite a stretch and bored with these types of livery, and it is yours and other people rights to bring opinion so I won't going against it and just let things flow by the way.

Guilty as charged, as I don't have the artistic talent to create an original livery, so I try to use the iconic & well known liveries to provide a template. I make the liveries for myself, and share most of them as they seem to be liked?

As for having incorrect period decals, this is partly due to only having around 700 decals available, It is quite surprising how this is insufficient for making the liveries I want to make. (I've sorted into folders, and several of these are at or near the folder limit).
