DLC early-buy gift is a kick in the nuts to Walmart pre-order buyers

Just as the title says. If they wanted to be fair to North American buyers, they would have made the Mazda 787B Stealth or Audi R10 Stealth the free gift. Those 2 cars were not available as pre-order bonuses in the North America and are still as of yet not obtainable with a North American disc.

Do you think it's not too late for them to fix this mistake? Not only is it giving away the Walmart exclusive to the masses, but also the Walmart owners then get no free gift because they already have the car. There's no point in having 2 even if it comes as a non-tradeable ticket for another one. Pre-order buyers from the other stores still maintain their exclusivity at this time then, too. I'm pretty pissed at this point.

I thought the same thing but thankfully I am an Aussue with all stealth and chrome cars, but I did think exactly the same when I saw the news... the benefit is keeping one stock and one modded but that's no huge compensation for the delayed DLC now is it!

Exclusivity is dumb. You've also had it for a while anyway.

I'm not really interested in either free gift to be honest.

They also just announced giving away the GTR GT500 Stealth to everyone. Another mistake on their part, because now they screwed over the Best Buy pre-order customers, too. With the R10 Stealth and 787B Stealths unobtainable as of yet, they could have offered one for the gift and one as the freebee and been fair to everyone. I understand that yes, it's been a while, and we were never absolutely guaranteed exclusivity, but now 2 of the pre-order store customers still have exclusivity, and 2 do not, as well as North America STILL having no way at all to obtain the 787B Stealth nor the R10 Stealth. Poor move, PD, poor move.

It's not dumb to those who pay premium to have access to exclusive content, it does devalue it because now everyone in US will have one.

It's just rude to entice pre-orders with exclusive content then give it away to millions later on!

Why? Is it unfair that I payed $600+ for my PS3 when the PS3 is now much less? No. I'd consider having it exclusively for x months was fair enough.

I guess I might be biased though, I've never bought something for exclusivity, there is just zero value in that inherently. I couldn't see myself getting worked up over this if I had bought whatever it was that gave you the Stealth cars. And actually, the gift isn't really free, you need to buy the DLC anyway.

Right now they're taking exclusivity away from *half* the pre-order buyers. As much as I find it unfair that they took exclusivity away from Walmart and Best Buy buyers, it's a double-whammy that the Amazon and Gamestop still have their exclusivity intact. It's just dumb, because they had 2 unavailable Stealths that would have fit perfectly into these 2 give-aways and been fair to everyone.

I totally agree. I hate to admit that I'm not surprised and a little numb by how PeeDy and Sonni are handling the situation. I'm over this. This has to be the only game that I know that has had the most issues. I'm just jaded by their lack of thought. Spank you very much....

Well, the only real exclusivity in GT5 comes in the form of obtaining rare vehicles like the 20,000,000 cr cars or other standards that don't show up very often.

For example: You dont see many people in the Ford Mk4 GT40:sly:

no of course not dude but that is slightly different because the price of release date ps3 and, say 12 months later ps3, differed due to the production cost being lowerd on account of lower quality materials and the removal of non essential parts... I have a release date "fatty" and was happy to pay $1000AUD for it knowing it was a quality unit, the later models simply do not have the same quality therefore it is the owners of later models who should feel aggrieved lol

In relation to general exclusive DLC: You are correct in that the content is not essentially free as it comes bundled. I purchased the sig edition and part of the appeal were these awesome stealth cars that, by virtue of being in the sig and ltd editions, were limited therefore not everyone had (or could get) them. Of course I did not buy it because of the cars but they formed part of what was marketed as the premium "must have" pack for GT5 enthusiasts and I agreed so I forked out $290AUD for it and I would be bloody pi55ed if PD then decided to give away packs of stealth cars because as far as I am concerned they should be restricted to those who have the codes from CE or SE releases because those people paid top dollar in order to obtain them.

With all of the trading and duping that went on before they blocked it, if you think that's truly rare then you are severely mistaken. People just don't drive them that often. Plus, that's still obtainable now (though, takes a long time). The Stealth cars had no path of obtain-ability beyond launch day or paying ridiculous amounts of money on Ebay, and even then the codes are no longer valid if unclaimed.

You're also comparing apples to oranges. We're not talking about something that was accessible to everyone for a premium price that has simply been marked down. We're talking about something that was completely unobtainable currently that people spent extra money or purchased in advance to obtain, that was no longer obtainable up until now, no matter how much money you wanted to spend on it.

Ownership of stealth cars is only a sign of your real-world loyalty to PD, in the form of money. This meaning that you paid real world money to obtain them.

Although you have a point in the pre-1mil trading limit era, you need to commit days, even weeks (if not using seasonals and playing the original A/B-spec way) in order to get to 20mil.

A car like the Mk4 is a sign of your effort put into GT5
Stealth Pre-orders are a sign of your real-world success in the form of money. (or how good you are at nagging your parents for a collector's Edt.)

How would I equate this? What would happen if suddenly Shelby started making Cobras again, and they made them so perfectly that there was absolutely no possible way to distinguish one made back in the 1960s to the ones they started producing today. Then they started offering them at $20,000 and mass produced hundreds of thousands of them so that anyone that wanted one could obtain one. How would you feel if you owned an original that used to be worth $500K+? Yeah, we're just talking virtual cars right now, but it's the concept and morality of it that I'm calling BS on. A dollar or a million, right is right and wrong is still wrong.

Most games eventually give the exclusive DLC away for free or for a price ITs all good guys

Bang on... they did EXACTLY the same thing with Magic: the Gathering cards back in the '90s, it devalued the rare and exclusive collections of thousands of people because they did not even make the new cards different, it is simply rubbish... if they are going to do this type of thing there must be differences, preferably profound ones!

But isn't that what it was? You could get the special editions if you payed for them. That was the path of obtainability. If you didn't pay, you would either never get them, or have to wait until something like this happened.

Yeah, they're not exactly the same situation, but I think they're fairly close.

Well, I'd still have my Cobra. And I would have had the experience of owning a Cobra for decades, no one else would be able to get that now. I'd think that would be all that mattered unless I just wanted to sell the car and make money off it, which I wouldn't do because I'd rather drive it.

I can still make an offer and buy any real world car no matter how old or rare it is. With the Stealths its impossible. Besides I have a few and I want everyone else to be able to enjoy them

You wouldn't care about a $480K+ instant depreciation? You can't even begin to tell us you wouldn't care about that.

Maybe he's billionaire spec rich!

Sooooooooooooooooooo.... about that 20 million credit loan?

I have the GT500 Stealth and believe it or not... I am not affected by others getting it now after I've had it for a year.

But I am a little bummed I can't get a second one to keep 0/0 :(

Euro/Asian players could have them all at once via Signature Edition. It's about time American players started to get the same deal.

Now just five more cars left... the SLS (which I already have), the McLaren F1, the 787B, the R10 TDI, and the Chromeline Jaaaaaaaaaag.

Do we actually know why it was not available to the entire world? Whilst I agree with retaining exclusivity for purchasers the stealths should have been available to all countries as a 6 car pack IMO, can't see why the USA misses out? Same as the Jag, jus' doe'nt make sense :grumpy:

first of all it wouldnt be a instant 480k depreciation, the car would sell for what they sell for. i.e. no one is going to sell a cobra for 20k when the going rate is 500k...bottom line.

as for the stealth cars.....when you got your stealth cars was it with the understanding that this would be the only way to get it? or was it a "selling point".

youve have the car for a year while everyone else hasnt, is that not exclusivity?

Exactly. Now it's starting to even out... Americans who previously could get only one (plus the Camry if they ordered from Gamestop) will have up to three. There may well be a day coming when every previously region-exclusive car is made available to the regions that didn't get it. I eagerly await that day.

You missed my point if that's what you're arguing about.

Yes that would be fair - but please do not make the same stealths available to everyone, these cars should be kept as "rare" and not just dumped en masse for everyone to have in their current state, they should be modified so the differences in appearance and performance are notable so that they are indeed two different cars; The integrity and rarity of the stealths must be maintained!

I already have the GT-R (Best Buy bonus) and I could care less about exclusivity, I am happy for those who now have the car. I just wish that those of us who do have it could chose another Stealth car, maybe the 787b, R10 etc. Everyone should have access to the same cars, after all it is the same game so come on Kaz and do this for us.

my point is your hypothetical is completely out of context.

NOW if PD and SONY started pressing NEW editions of the coll. and sig. editions then your argument MIGHT hold water.
