Do seasonals ruin A-spec for you?

They didn't ruin A-spec for me, I try and complete all the A-spec races and if I want to do something a bit different/more difficult/need some cash I do a seasonal.
Time Trails are also nice to see if I've made any noticeable progress in the last months compared to the rest of the world.

Lack of limitations is what brings me back to A Spec to break in my cars. And I did have one hell of a laugh the other day when I tried the GT All Stars Nurburgring Race in an R34 (and won!). 2nd place was a Pescarolo Hybride.

BSpec Laguna is the easiest break in race. Let your idiot do the work!

No, but they make me wonder why the A-Spec events couldn't be as interesting as the Seasonals. I even wonder why PD seemed so lazy with some of the A-Spec events. A "theory" I've had is that the A-Spec events (and even some of the B-Spec events) were so few and far between because more people would probably play GT5 online than the offline events. I even think GT4 probably could have been lackluster (in respects) if online play was enabled and fully implemented in GT4.

I really think Seasonals SAVE the overall racing in Gran Turismo rather than hurt it. Otherwise, this would be the most disappointing Gran Turismo of all-time in regards to racing and race types. Seasonals don't ruin anything for me.

What is there to ruin? A-Spec is awful.

Well said.👍

I cut my teeth on GT3 which was simply amazing. I never got round to buying GT4. I was expecting good things with GT5 but the A-Spec was a low blow. All the comparisons have been talked about to the enth degree on these boards but the one thing that gets me the most is the simple lack of races with tire wear and fuel.

For me, racing is about tactics as well as bhp and racecraft. If it weren't for the scintillating graphics and pretty damn good physics I'd be playing something else. More evidence for those that believe that GT5 is a time trial simulator.

On one of my profiles I've only done a few of the A-spec races. The trick is to make them challenging by lowering pp & limiting your tires to sport soft or less. If you look at the typical opponents list, for a challenge, make your pp equal to the lowest pp on the list.

I agree with the park bot bit. The AI dynamic is weak and poorly programmed.

If PD is grooming it's players to be better drivers, as I'm sure they are as seen with the TT's and New Seasonals and the recent graph showing GT game driver improvement. Why don't we have more realism ie DAMAGE for stupid driving. Race Penalties for cheating etc. As it is now we take alot for granted when we play. The dirty driving that's used against the AI, and the bang em up mentality the game provides places us in a No-Consequence frame of mind, encouraging a skewed racing mentality. PD can put options in the game for every level of driver who plays the game. Question is, will they?

Hopefully GT6 will have Realistic race dynamic which should be mandatory. If I drive into the wall, I shouldn't be able to re-enter the track and race again until I restart or limp back to the pits for repairs. Speaking of which, there should be a garage option while in the pits to make setting adjustments or major repairs as in real life.

My 2 cents... Thanks for letting me rant... lol

I'll have to agree with the others who say the Seasonals give life to GT5, and to be honest, I really enjoy doing the TT & DT challenges, and sometimes A-Spec. It'll be cool if PD brought back grid starts, than I'll REALLY enjoy A-Spec, but overall at least PD does a good job continuing to update the Seasonal Events weekly.

They should try to make a A-Spec Rally Seasonal with the co driver added if possible, being "Gran Turismo Rally". A 530PP realistic 3 rounds point to point race series with classic and modern rally cars, even production cars that are 4WD can enter in their own tunable 530PP non race cars event. I hope PD makes one someday, but it'll only be a dream. :(

I bought the game two days before the PSN outage a while back, so I had no idea what the Seasonals were until the Network went back up. I had already completed most of Aspec by the time I found the Seasonal events.

The Seasonals have kept me playing GT5 for a while now. Not quite completed everything yet, just the mega long endurance races left in A Spec and level 39. At least the Seasonals are keeping my interest until I finally get ALL the cars.

Seasonals are far from perfect and I hate the rabbit situation that's a PIA but considering how long the game has been out what more can I ask for. I could do without the grinding as well, who wants to play the same thing over and over again just to get points or money?

However Don't know too many other games that are this old and still bring you something new for free every week. Most games are done once you've finished them, nothing new to keep you playing and consigned to the back of a draw. I think I have definitely got my money's worth out of GT5 it's the only game I play and keep coming back to.

Do seasonals ruin A-spec for you?

Ruin? No, I have the choice of not participating in them. I spend all my time racing against real drivers online, and only participate in seasonal races when I want to top off my credits, which never get below 10mil anyway. Other than getting credits, racing against the AI is a waste of my time, when I can race with real people. That is why I took so much care in deciding who is on my friends list. this is not a judgement on those who race against the AI, just a statement about my personal approach to the GT5 experience.

Hi all, thing is that A-spec should be completed for newcomers to GT , we, as old GT players, there will be no harm done if we play A-spec and Seasonals at the same time. I have been doing it in my second account and it really helps to get expensive racing cars and other rare cars. Keep on supporting the game and the new stuff that PD is doing for us in order to not give up on the game, because in the end you love this game...
Cheers.

I must say I do not use A-spec or Run the Seasonals since I joined an online Racing League (S.N.A.I.L. but there are other good ones). Nothing beats racing other clean fast drivers. A-Spec just seems so boring and I would rather be practicing with real humans than just going for fast laps or Racing the AI.

I have been re-running the Historic Car races in A spec. My aim is to win with as many of the eligible cars in both races as I can. So far I've done this with the Ferrari 330 P4, Jag' XJ13, Ford MkIV and Chap' 2D.

Great fun and the tracks are so different that I'm changing a lot of the set up between races in order to get the cars 'just right' for the track.

Just managed it with the Toyota 7! Very hairy on the Cote d'Azur.

A-spec is ruined by the seasonals - but they don't add very much to the game.

Out of choice, I have started GT5 again, using only cars with 0 mileage. Too easy to just keep buying cars from the UCD - and then never get to drive them! Got every car on my other account, although you can sort my number of changes, can't easily see how much you've driven any particular standard.

Tend to only play for 20-30 mins - would rather do 3 or 4 races then 1 or 2 online races, so use the seasonals unless I'm almost at the credit limit.

A-spec doesn't add much - few credits and generally not very inspiring prize cars, not easy to set it up to be particularly challenging, once completed not often are they interesting enough to go back to and try to make them more interesting by trying again with lower pp.

Actually, going back to start again, I will avoid many of the A-spec - so that I don't win the prize cars - it isn't like anyone would want them??

At least with the later seasonals, it is interesting to see how little a pp you need to win, and if you fail - still get a reasonable payout, and something like a helmet, paint chip or racing suit (or a penalty of yet another horn!)

its one of the saving graves of gt5. without it getting new cars would be even a bigger hassle than it has to be (and not being able to do races because of xp sucks).

not being able to sell or give cars is one of the worst things in gt5 imo.

I enjoy the seasonals. With three kids, my opportunities to play are few and far between. I have A spec complete except for Endurance. I have only completed one endurance race, and that took me days! I didn't even attempt an endurance until they introduced the save feature.

Seasonals work great for me, because I play so infrequently that there is always something new and challenging for me.

Same here for me, I can't recall the last time I played A Spec? Maybe when PSN was shut down for weeks way back when.

I haven't played the game in almost two years. Bought GT5XL, haven't even gotten a license yet, but have 10 mil and 50 cars lol.

Seasonals haven't ruined the game for me(I completed the game 3X before playing online last year). I find the payout from Seasonals has made the main game redundant.
