Jesus christ, this is like the Energizer Bunny. It keeps going, and going, and going, and going...etc.

Thank god no one from Blockland has entered the argument. Otherwise this crap storm would ignite into a storm of flaming sewege.

Clearly he never drove a car. Or had a concealed carry permit.

:D

I wanna talk about how you don't need proof to do what is right. Basically faith, and this makes sense in acts that must be done without reason/logic.

From my favorite philosopher:

A social organism of any sort whatever, large or small, is what it is because each member proceeds to his own duty with a trust that the other members will simultaneously do theirs. Wherever a desired result is achieved by the co-operation of many independent persons, its existence as a fact is a pure consequence of the precursive faith in one another of those immediately concerned. A government, an army, a commercial system, a ship, a college, an athletic team, all exist on this condition, without which not only is nothing achieved, but nothing is even attempted. A whole train of passengers (individually brave enough) will be looted by a few highwaymen, simply because the latter can count on one another, while each passenger fears that if he makes a movement of resistance, he will be shot before any one else backs him up. If we believed that the whole car-full would rise {25} at once with us, we should each severally rise, and train-robbing would never even be attempted. There are, then, cases where a fact cannot come at all unless a preliminary faith exists in its coming. And where faith in a fact can help create the fact, that would be an insane logic which should say that faith running ahead of scientific evidence is the 'lowest kind of immorality' into which a thinking being can fall. Yet such is the logic by which our scientific absolutists pretend to regulate our lives!

-William James, Will to Believe

Yep, one must believe to understand!!!

That's not faith, but trust. Trust and will.

And once people understand that they can rise up and overpower an inferior force, they will if they have sufficient reason to.

A mob of customers will not likely rush a pair of gunmen robbing a bank.

But a planeload of people can, will and have rushed and overpowered terrorists since the 9/11 attacks... and even during the 9/11 attacks... remember the plane that missed?

"Insane logic" is to risk your life to protect monetary assets that can be recovered and rebuilt. And which are often insured, anyway.

It's not insane for people to risk their lives to protect other people if they view the lives of others as having value, or to better their own odds of survival.

Why should we risk our lives for money? Most people won't But if lives are at stake, there are people who can and do react.

Whether or not they believe in God.

If someone from Blockland joined this argument, it would be like the world's biggest idiot trying to solve a world problem.

Tl;dr version of everyone in this thread: You are wrong, this is my opinion and it's OBVIOUSLY right because I connected a few irrelevant facts to it loel.

These two are right because everyone can check the Quran simply by going in internet but what doesn't let you to do it is satan.
Pointing fingers now, are we? If something happens you don't like, blame it on Satan, if something nice happens, it's the Lord's work. How convenient.

He could, but this is all the story of Satan, it is only because of him that we make sins and why people don't chose the right word for translation.

Damn. I wish I'd known that when I was learning French and German at school.

"No, that's the wrong answer, you've mis-translated"

"Sorry Miss, it's Satan's fault"

No, here how it is really in the Quran :

4:79 - Whatever reaches to you of good, is from Allah, but whatever befalls you of evil, is from yourself. Allah has sent you (Muhammad) for mankind as a messenger, and Allah is Sufficient as a Witness.

If God was all powerful and all that why is Satan still here? :guilty:

It is the story of Satan, it is too long to write it there bit I can send yoj a private message to describe it to you if you want.

So does Allah favour the penalty taker while the goalkeeper is taken by Satan?

Did Satan make you double post again?

Perhaps God has split personalities and Satan is God? Must be very lonely being the only one of your kind.

Oh really, then help me out a bit. Suppose I want to translate the Koran from Arabic to Suomi, and I make a little tiny mistake from which one might infer that Mohammad (may he rest in pieces) liked to screw little boys. Is that still my fault or the Devil's? Very confusing all this abracadabra.

You really like to preach, don't you.

No. Allah has given us a brain and conscience. If you are low, you can be dominated by satan easily, but if you call ALLAH to help you , then you are stronger than satan with the help of Allah.

Denur, this sort of mistake will never happen and never happened.

@Codename, i am Muslim i understand why you are in this thread to help people see the light, but there is no point doing it over the net because people just insult sometimes people dont know they are doing it and thats fine because they didnt know but i request to you (Codename) try not to discuss Islam on this try to do it face to face please dont feel disheartened (not pointing any virtual finger at any person on the thread)

Quite right - it was girls. His third wife was six - though he waited until she was nine before the marriage was consummated.

Oddly, this point is often used as a point of assault on Islam - Mohammed being fifty at the time of the marriage - though it was a cultural norm at the time. Few of us have a family tree that doesn't involve a married pre-teen in recorded history.

Unless you use that brain to seek out empirical data, apparently.

Thanks e30 freak, you have remember me that my job comed to its end now, I wish all the best for you Inch'Allah. This is my last post there and I will respond finally to Famine and Denur.

Famine, In the Quran, it was allowed and not forced to have maximum 4 wifes because before, in christianity or judaism, people had lotTs of wifes, sometimes more than 20. Islam came to limit it to 4 wifes. Islam has also created womens liberty because they had no liberty and new girls baby were sometimes burried alive before islam. Women and men are equal in Quran and it is from islam that gallantry came all around the world. Also, the third wife of Muhammad ( peace be upon him ) was nammed Aisha which we, muslim, give our full respect to every muhammad wifes. She was about 16 or 19 when she get married and the firSt wife of Muhammad ( peace be upon him) was 15 years older than him. He was able to marry 11 wifes because Allah has let him to it

Denur, this is not translation error, this is changing totally the real fact.

Remember two things Famine and Denur, and other that still disbealieving, I could continue this discussion for years and years but Allah has given me wisdom. Also You won't say to Allah that you wasn't aware the judgement day by your own eyes because some one who's pseudo name was Codename and warned you.
Here my job finishes and now it's up to you to think at everything that happened when I was there.
Peace to every believers.

Women and men are equal in Quran

Yeah... right.

RationalWiki:

The sura says that sons should inherit twice as much as daughters Allah enjoins you concerning your children: The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females, Women:11; and states that if women are found to be "guilty of lewdness", the correct punishment is to "confine them to the houses until death takes them away or Allah opens some way for them." Luckily, a whopping four men are required to witness this lewdness and testify on it.(Women:15)

Any chance of a date for that?

I've been warned of many apocalypses and judgements, some with precise dates. I seem to still be alive.

Will you not do the honors and wield the sword when the day cometh?

[8:12] "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip."

Never mind the precise date, your day will come.

But don't worry much about it, it's the way you live that matters, not the way you die.*

*And this applies both to those that believe in a judgement and to those that don't.
