Maybe God made an Volcanic Eruption?
Sorry, I do not understand your reasoning. When reading your previous posts on this subject, it appears to me that you do not subscribe to the belief presented in this question. I'm curious. Why would you ask me to answer a question of this nature? I cannot answer with anything but conjecture.

Okay

Do you believe God really rained fire and sulfur in Sodom and Gomorrah?

It's a lot harder to believe than a skilled slinger (as shepherds tended to be) killing someone, regardless how big he was.

What prompted you to ask that question, anyway? I didn't even say I believed the David-Goliath story; I just said it's one of the things I find credible in the Bible. At least the general outline of the story is believable.
Yes, blame everything on God.
Why not? Some people are certainly quick enough to credit Him when things go right, why shouldn't He take the heat when things go wrong?

After all, He made, like everything, right? And this is all (allegedly) His plan and all, right?

Just like how America blames everything on Obama Bush
FTFY.

I just wanted to get your opinion. And personally I'm starting to question my own belief/religion. Some of the things that happened throughout the earths history are not recorded in the Bible and that irks me. I just don't see why if those events happened, why didn't Bible scholars jot them down and then revise the Bible in the future.

Okay, fair enough. In a word, no. I do not believe any of the Sodom and Gomorrah fire-and-brimstone story at all. Least of all what happened to Lot's wife.

David knocked him down with a stone, then he rushed forward to the downed Goliath, grabbed Goliath's own sword and chopped off his head!!

50 ¶ So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith

David killed him with a stone and then killed him again with a sword. ;):top:

Goliath had 2 lifes it seems... :D

David killed him with a stone and then killed him again with a sword. ;)

When killing giants, 'tis best to be super extra double safety sure. I'd have probably killed him a couple more times, just in case. ;)

Although without being facetious, if I'd knocked a big guy over with a rock, cutting his head off is a good idea. I might think he's dead, but if he does happen to wake up I'll be sorry.

I just want to clarify, this is a thread for "Do we believe in God" not "Discuss the merits of the Old Testament" yes? good.
Because the Christian Bible is a whole other kettle of fish.

Do I believe in an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent god? A god that cares about what us humans think and do, and that will judge us post-mortem based on arbitrary factors outlined in the bible?
 No. Hence why I voted "No Way!", as this seems to be the question, however...

Do I believe in intelligent design? A higher power? A supercelestial being that created the Universe we live in?
 I don't know, how could I? For the fascinating place we live in, that seems just as sound (if not more) an explanation than that the Earth is an anomaly, the product of insane luck, as if chance had rolled a trillion Yahtzees in a row. That we are one lonely ball of life and wonder in a vast sea of nebulae. Who are we to prove or disprove that?

This thread doesn't assume that god = the christian one, and as such the OT is as open for discussion as any other religious text.

Its also perfectly valid to include the OT in any discussion about christianity, as its still a core part of the relgions belief structure and credo, hence the reason why the 10 commandments are in every christian church.

A rather bold assumption to make that we are alone in the universe, particularly given that we have explored such an almost immeasurably small amount of it.

I would much rather look at it as a we don't know yet (in terms of are we alone, etc.) and certainly in regard to design, on our all of rock, I don't see any sign of it at all. Intelligent Design is not a 'sound' explanation in any way at all, its pseudoscience of the highest level, with no evidence to back it up at all.

This, of course, has bugger-all to do with any evidence for a million Jewish slaves in ancient Egypt. Which you have been claiming as fact. Which you have been repeatedly called on to produce evidence for by several people, and which you have singularly failed to do.

Even in a Church of England school as a child (I was an unpopular pupil for the Creationists in particular) several staff taught the Old Testament in respect of the views of the writers. That included pointing out the lack of archeological evidence for the claim that Jews were enslaved by the Pharoahs. The dating of the pyramids also messes up along the biblical timeline.

We were taught that the Christian bible was a text to inform judgement, not a text of fact. I don't think there's so much balanced bible study in some places... :)

Just swinging by to drop this little bombshell on you.

there STILL remains the PURELY SCIENTIFIC and MATHEMATICAL Proof that GOD does exist! And NO-ONE can EVER, correctly, dispute THAT.

HOWEVER, and IN ADDITION, HE (God) wants to prove to the World that HE did in fact live with me, for over a year, and HE told me many, many awesome things!

Although I have to wonder why he's so intent on making money if these are the end times.

Just swinging by to drop this little bombshell on you.

Gosh, no thanks :D

Hard to imagine that a page served electronically could actually seem antique, all very "Bob's Internet Dungeon" :)

What in there strikes you as particularly astonishing or revelatory?

And why do Americans only ever present the bomb shell? You know that can be empty, right? Great for standing umbrellas in though :D

Why yes.

This is also the FIRST legitimate Science Proof of God.
It is the
ONLY Scientifically Verifiable Proof that Jesus exists.

I have discovered through the tools of Science & Math that 42 is an EXTREMELY important NUMBER! GOD told me that it is NO COINCIDENCE that a recent movie has been released, to coincide with my May 2013 release of this book. It is about a famous baseball player, and the name of the movie is simply "42". You see, per my new scientific theory, 42 is not only equal to one-fourth of a Proton particle, but it is ALSO the square root of {the mass of the Proton divided by the mass of the Electron}!
Check this for yourself, by looking up these masses in any book of physics!

Well he lived with this guy for a year so he probably had some free time on his hands.

Although I have to wonder why he's so intent on making money if these are the end times.

"And the Lord, the LOORD! He said to me, he said Now son, you hear me son... don't you go payin' no tax on that money now, that money right there's for the service of JESUS yes it IS let me hear you say a-MEN now!"

I guess it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan... :D
