Do you ever drink and drive?

Hmm, 10-20 shots in 30-40 minutes... That'll be really fun about fifteen minutes after the race ends.
You're not gonna be taking more than 13-14 shots. You're not gonna be leading that many laps once you start drinking lol and it was only one race, the last of the night. Kinda like how people work all day then stop at the bar with friends for a drink. It's really fun. Plus if you think you're drinking to much, you don't have to drink. It works on a honor system. You know your limit to not get to hammered. Personally, I would always just drink until I got a good buzz to impair my driving then just pull over and take a drink of water.

I have posted here before but I will share my thoughts again because I feel it can't be said enough. IRL, I am in the shape I am in because of a drunk driver. I despise people that think drinking and driving, no matter how small the amount might be, is alright in real life. I am for zero tolorance.

Now, while playing the game, nothing wrong with that whatsoever. I personally don't drink at all because of my medication but some of my most funny and memorable races has came while people were drinking. I have been in races with drunk people before where I actually had to quite because I was laughing so hard I was crying, lol. Fun times those were while racing with the intoxicated, lol.

IRL, Save a life, don't drink and drive. The life you save could be your own.

Doing some races after work while drinking a few ice cold Boddington's is a great way to relax. I always find myself anticipating the next straight section of track so I can take another sip.

I've never driven drunk, whether IRL or virtually. Driving is a pleasure to me, and I need all my faculties to get the maximum out of it, and the car.

Never plan on drinking and driving - always call a cab, or get a buddy to drive you.

As for being intoxicated while playing the game - well as one member already stated here - it can be quite an eye-opener as to how dysfunctionally we drive after drinks; so a good simulation of drunken driving if one wants to experience it.

Then there is the other side of the coin . . . what more freedom than to enjoy a glass of Liebfraumilch while toodling around the Ring without fear of running someone over or maiming oneself. Virtual Reality with a bit of RL juice FTW. ;)

👍

I live about a minutes walk, two minutes for the round trip, from a local brewery so more often then not I am sipping on an IPA.

I once drove Grand Theft Auto 4 while off my face.

Never again.

Since then I refuse to drink and drive either IRL or in virtual reality.

I've lost too many of my friends and had too many hospitalized due to drink driving incidents, simulating the scenario doesn't exactly help.

I am completely alcohol free for about 10 years. Before that I drank only because there wasnt anything else to use and its a lifestyle here, Youre a MAN when You drink every day and as much as possible. Thats a MAN'S MAN. Disgusting. So, anyway, during those 10 years that doesnt include some beers I've had in these 10 years because, like I said, around here drinking is a lifestyle like in Canada weed is a lifestyle and nobody looks wrong at You. so 5 beers in 10 years is like some song name for those drunks...something that someone once did but no one has ever managed to repeat it. haha :D

My preference is marijuana, good quality chronic. Homegrown preferrably of course, from quality seeds, and i prefer more indica weed meaning i know 95% of weed is indica/sativa anyway but i mean I like the ones where indica is the more dominant type. You'd be hard pressed to find a straight 100% sativa strain (and then prove it) while 100% indica grows wild in Pakistan and Afghanistan roadsides everywhere. :)

Out here, everybody thinks weed is injected and its basically another name for heroin. Well, the very old folk do, the nasty bags that just lack a life and their 49 yr marriage is nothing but a facade bc they hate each others every fiber so they both just whine and whien and whine, yeah thats the era of our grandparents where marrying at 16 meant you where stuck with this person whether he was a necrophile or a closet furry (who came out when only the wife was home and scared her out of the house) :)

Seriously though, its pretty bad out here. We are so far from decriminalization its disgusting, at least we are in the EU and use the €, there has to come a letter from Brussels that says 'Oy, Estonia (look at ya name for pete's sake), relax the law's on the toking, ey, will ya?' We'll be watching. The Brussels Group'. that would be nice and relax the drug laws and let people be. I mean EVERYONE that is 16-25 over here smokes weed, mostly weekly, some daily. its everyones own business and nobody would EVER rat on anybody if someone came knocking.

But anyway, thats what I prefer, and playing GT5 after smoking a small bong makes me a better driver (tested that on tsukuba, might've just been luck, anyway, it definitely does NOT make You a crappier driver. that is only when Youve been smoking for 3-4hrs already and are STONED, thats when its time to but the DS3 down and enjoy watching replays which look incredible or You can watch Your friends play or battle it out on 2player mode.

OT: I just got a second DS3 and was thinking where in GT5 do You go to 2-player mode?
Arcade mode and find my way around there? Both DS3's should be already activated, i'm sure? Or is it somewhere... totally another place?:dopey:

Many builds ago at 3am in the morning, I did a 4.44 in the FGT at the nurburgring which at the time was the lap record and Id had at least 10 shots in the pub that night. Maybe it calmed my nerves, who knows.

This is bound to be a trigger question for people whose lives have been affected by a drunk driver.

It was -- take a look at the first couple pages. I'd have probably titled the thread "drink and GT", myself.

Anyway, I get sick if I try to play video games while drinking -- sometimes I will enjoy my Amendment 20 privileges, but that is usually very unproductive.

If I play GT after having a few beers my concentration completely goes, especially in the faster cars where braking points etc. have to be perfect. I don't bother now if I've had a couple of drinks in the evening because I'll just be driving badly and getting annoyed with myself!

It generally works best if you start playing before you start drinking. But then again you do need to set the self-criticism aside if you're going to try such a thing, particularly once you get past your second drink and any chance it might make you better 'cause it's downhill fast from there. The point is to be fun. Once you find yourself complaining about your crap driving it's time to stop.

I drive whist drinking every now and again (on GT5 obviously, not in reality) but if youre gokng to drink and drive on the game please do start sober and keep playing whilst drinking because you wont be able to do a thing basically if you start half drunk :L

Every night on my way home from work I drink a 12 pack of Bud Light while doing 100+ mph, it really calms my nerves. Just kidding, I only drink socially so I never drink while playing gt5.

I feel so good all the time, there's no reason to drink. So I don't drink and drive, I just drive.

I do quite enjoy a JD and coke and a cruise on GT! Have also driven on hallucinogens on GT which was quite interesting to say the least!

all in all good fun!

Omg I tried drifting drunk. A lot more difficult than just driving lol. I was listening to music so I couldn't hear the engine. I would come into conciseness and look at the screen to always see the car into the wall lol. When I really focused and tried I got about 10,000 points less normal. A big difference but worth it I would say lol.

6 cans of Woodstock & Honey throughout a 150 Lap Suzuka Enduro online.. ended up winning. :)

There was about 6 people in total.

Drag Racing can be fun after a 6 pack and some of a nice plant. The funny thing about it is at 2-3am, the ghost will ghost and it'll take a good second before anyone launches:dopey:

Yep. I have a Logitech G27 and nice comfortable chair and i love to drink a bit then put on a music play list and cruise around the Nurburgring.

My drink of choice is usually Jack Daniels straight no case. Last time though I had some vodka mixed with Mountain Dew voltage. It was a risk because at the time it seemed like a good idea. And it was quite good.

Frankly, I hate it when people drive under influence. Of anything. In real life and ingame. I know it's just a game, but it can screw up other people their experience when others are drunk.

I have to use medication, (no way around that, I'm afraid), and when I notice I'm even slightly off my usual driving skill, I don't play. Not online at least.

Hahahaha that's why when you see me cruising in my lounge on the Nurburgring in my EVO I am usually just chilling to myself.
