I've just been using the default control for the DS4 and have managed to top a few leaderboards here and there. I really enjoy the feeling of control I feel this game has.

I tried it with my T300 and it wasn't pretty...

Funny thing is I think I have a good config and then I come across a car & track combination where it just doesn't work. Going to stick with the one I'm using now until I have a wheel.

Sometimes I think it's not the control config/wheel settings that's the problem, just how you're driving on a certain day.Sometimes I feel completely in control no matter what car(except the Atom!) then another day it just doesn't click.I had a couple of days away from DC recently and I was awful for an hour or two.

I dont' think the question is made in the right way, you have to specify control and wheel because there is a world of difference. I play with T300RS thrustmaster and T3PA pedal set and control is perfect, FBB is very good. I tried with a pad but i don't like. I believe that a racing game must be played with a wheel, using a pad is very poor.

I did feel 90% in control until today, I got myself a new copy of driveclub and decided to catch up a bit I have been trying to do that level 2 timetrial at japan asigiri highland raceway v2 in the Mizzantri Aventra car. The time to beat is 121.50 I have never had such a car which defies the joypad controls ever it is useless in every sense of the word.
I have done 122.4something and that's it I cannot do quicker in this awful handling hunk of junk.
Does it matter if you don't pass level2 I have done the other two requirements stars and whatever that other amount of fame/points were.
Getting a bit like gt6 this game now just to damn hard. please give me a difficulty slider.

Lol, The Mazzanti is a wild beast, but definitely one that can be tamed. I used to hate it until I had to get used to it for a challenge. It's one of the fastest supercars once you get the feel for it. Persevere and you may too grow to appreciate it. I would certainly suggest you avoid the Atom if you don't get on with the Mazzanti.

I have tried the Atom it is mental, but I have to say I can control it a lot better than the Mazzanti.
I was using the Atom to try and hit a world first in a trial but gave up and If I remember right used the Dacs or Caterham it handled so much better it improved my time even though a slower car, Still not number 1 in that event lol.
My theory on cars in games is If it was real life and I test drove the car "would I buy it" if the answer is no as it is awful then I shy away from using them in the game.
There is a few cars on there which are awful a few concept ones where they forgot to put suspension and steering racks on them and that vile Koneiseggggg one thing which is very quick but handles like a boat. Have to say I would be happy just using the Ferrari FXXK or the Zonda R both quick and both handle wonderful.
If only I could use them in Asigiri

Also can someone tell me how I show my ps user name under my avatar please.

The Avantra is my favorite car in driveclub it's my car of choice in that class, once you tune into Mazzi it'll get under your skin.

Good luck to you bud, It's not my cup of tea, I suppose it comes down to driving style I know I am a very late braker and very aggressive in bends, not always the quickest but loads of fun. I suppose if I calmed down and treated the car as what it is instead of a full on F1 car I could do better. Hence why I love the Zonda and Fxx k.
I did try on the Asigiri trial but that is beyond my abilities 121.50 in the words of Jim Royal My a*@e.

I also really enjoy bringing out a car from the slower categories and doing the sprints. I love the battle of the same car I usually get in the top ten which I am proud of, Regardless that others have done a lot quicker in other cars.

1.18.678 on your video is hugely impressive well done on that. I just cannot do it I slide a lot when coming into bends and always always make a mistake and hit a barrier or wall or take in a bit if green laneing, and that's when I am really trying lol.
I suppose patience and perseverance is the answer but my patience only lasts about 20 laps these days. (I am old and miserable ask my wife).

Still watching that video of yours Brilliant bud just brilliant.

I would put some serious thought into learning manual gears if you haven't already, it allows you to get into the correct gear so much more quickly also don't worry about your time just keep churning out the laps, the more you think about it the more pressure you put on yourself that can only end one way. Hope this helps pal.

This was my original attempt at that challenge certainly nothing to write home about.

I do manual all the time I find it easier when braking etc to slam down a few gears and be ready for the exit in the correct gear, cuts down on sliding to I find if I concentrate correctly.
I am back on the sprints now clocking some good points, I am on level 97 and trying to get to the 100 mark.
Also hoping to grab a number one spot on the way.

The Mazzanti......One of Driveclubs' gems certainly!I remember sending Kenny a wet Mazzanti challenge around Frazers reverse a fair while back that consumed him for a week(sorry about that Kenny :) )
In the first 6 months of playing DC I loved the more predictable cars, the BAC,Caterham 300,Ferrari 458 speciale etc. There were a group of cars I'd never pick,Spano,Savage,Atom and Mazzanti. These were cars that at the time I felt handled 'badly',but I've grown to love them(other than the hateful Atom which refuses to submit to my G29 wheelery).
Once you've got in the groove, there's not a much better feeling than sliding a Mazzanti or F40 around in the rain!
Thinking about it,I don't think I've tried the Mazzanti in Hardcore handling mode, anyone up for a few laps over the weekend??? Hello?.....Where did everyone go! ;)

ooh yes i remember that one, at this point i was always a Auto Gears person i just wasn't getting anywhere with Auto in this challenge, so i had no choice but to embrace the dark side and trying all be it very badly to get a handle on Manual Gears. I had this vision of Paul sat there in his chair stroking his cat and cackling to himself as he presses X on the send challenge button.

Here's that video from 9 months ago of me trashing Frazers Reversed or what i've nicknamed it Landfill because that was all it was good for.

I give up my game must be corrupt or there is some clever hackers out there.
Canada Cahoosh point 2nd one. Sprint- in Renault megane rs trophy car.
Got to 7th or 8th quite easily then was struggling to get better so I turn on ghost cars to see what the quicker drivers do different to me.
I batter the ghost cars yet on the final run to the line 3 cars overtake me like I am standing still!
I revert back to the previous bend to see if they take it different thus carry more speed up the hill and down the straight only to see I am in front of them by .275 out of the bend and up the hill soon as I get on the straight without lifting the throttle at all they pass me like I am in 2nd and there in 4th and 8000rpm.
Now I know the .275 I am up is only up on the car which is 1 place above me in the global list but how can I keep losing 1.5 to 2+ seconds on a straight on full throttle?
Can someone else please have a few goes at it and let me know how they find it before I pull my grey hair out!
Cheers gents and ladies.

I'll take a look later. :)

Huge respect Kenny cracking time that.
I just done same sprint in light participating rain got no1 easy (to easy) loads of room for improvement.
I just gone back to doing it in the dry and can't get below 48. I giving it a miss 5th is good enough.
On those stars what do they actually do? I did a few tour events. I struggle with the ones with fast AI in as they just smash me off the track and then it's impossible to catch up, If I get more stars what will it give me in the game?

Get this I cannot drift to save my life in fact I was last in global on an event with 0 points lol yet by just playing the game in time trial and sprint mode I have the trophy for drifting so many points which is apparently very rare or ultra rare:)
Dabbing that handbrake in corners and sliding hard in bends seems to have saved me the time from trying to learn the drift section.
Is the drift section used by many does anyone know? I have been there 3 times twice by pressing right to many times and ending up on drifting and once to see what it was about.

You need to collect your stars from the Tour Mode in order to complete your requirements for your Elite Levels there are 3 requirements needed for your Elite Levels, 1 certain amount of fame, 2 certain number of stars, and most importantly your time trial time, without these you can't progress to your next Elite Level.

Nice one I suppose I had better give that tour mode a pasting. I will have a look at if there is something in my settings why FR never work to me.
Will drop you an FR if I can sort it out.

All I know is that I'm turning in and correcting like a madman. It always feels like the car is going to slide on entry and some of the dips on the inside of some corners is a nightmare. The amount of AWD/4WDs I was forced to drift is insane.

There's only a few cars I have some idea of control with, one of which *not* being the Icona Vulcano.

Hi I have just got a new ps4 (awaiting my xmas present VR)
I thought I would jump back on Drive club.
I started on Tour and entered the Startline one and entered the Dam Busters race with a McLaren.
It was going ok for a couple of laps then it started to rain and heavy.
I cannot see any of the track due to rain and find it impossible to race, I ended up last and should of completed the time in 11 mins something but ended up over 12 mins.
Is there a way to turn off the rain? There must be somehow as it is ridiculous when you cannot see the track and the car slides everywhere yet the other cars are programmed to go around regardless.
This isn't fun it is just plain stupid and ruins the race and the fun of it, never understand why they make games so silly sometimes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Ahh I loved that event, but unfortunately for you there is no option to turn off the rain, only thing to suggest is to just learn the track off by heart and I'm sure you'll crack it eventually

I feel your pain!Dam Busters is a great event, but only once you know the track well enough to not be too intimidated by the lack of visibility once the heavens open.Hit TT mode and run a few dozen laps, start off with it dry and good visibility and once you're feeling cocky do some wet runs.
