Which is why I said "I don't think anyone has figured out how to fix it", you know because I didn't know for sure. It depends on who you talk to though or what you read, some say it's not a problems, other think it is. It is probably to early to tell.

And since when did Google become a source?

Since you provided it. 💡 It would be otherwise fine to question, but you can't possibly expect to give someone a smart-assed link like that and not be held accountable for what's found, right?
In any case, you seemed unaware, as you said "I don't think anyone has figured out exactly how yet."
It seems some people think they have.

Either way I find it just as foolish as the Y2K non-crises, and the 2012 crises, and all of the scheduled raptures.
People are always claiming the end is near, this isn't a new fad by any means.

It wasn't intended to be a smart ass link, he wanted to know what it was and instead of link a bunch of pages it's just easier to do that. And if you look around at other links besides Wikipedia you get a broader range of answers and solutions.

As for not thinking anyone has figured it out yet, it was based on my previous reading and understanding of the topic. I'm by no means an expert so I only know what I know from a moderate understanding and discussions with tech related people that I know.

I still believe the Year 2038 glitch is going to cause us problems, it's not the end of the world by far but it'll still be a pain.

Anyone notice how it's ALWAYS on the 21st?

Geez I'm gonna hunt down the person that predicted this and I'll make him read the Bible

And what exactly is that going to achieve? For all we know, if there ever will be an apocalyptic event, it could have been accurately predicted in the holy text of a religion which ET follows.

No worries, surely you can understand how whomever it was addressed to probably took it, and how it looked.
Hilarious either way, and it's the first I've heard of it. Not that I'll ever worry about it, because I won't, but even if I would I'd wait until 2037 to start worrying.

All the Y2K conspiracies I heard were for the 1st, what did you hear? :odd:

Maybe the Mayans stoped at 2013 because someone was sick of making calendars for folks who wouldn't be alive for the next 300 years....

HEAVILY OPINIONIZED POST BELOW:

That's what my friend said. But he worded it differently:

Basically there are 2 Mayans making the calendar and one says to the other "Hey, you want to cause some commotion?"

The other says "What do you have in mind?"

He replies, "Lets just stop making the calendar and mess with people in a future date!"

So they agree to take said action and go meet up with friends, their boss finds them not working and kills them. The boss could never find a replacement.

No the world is not ending, my Windows XP Laptop has a calendar that goes till 2020. Microsoft solves the problem . [/True story]

The Mayans knew incredibly much about space. They nailed solar eclipses as late as in 95.

But as far as the calendar goes it could just be that the Mayans died out.

alignment in the solar system as far as i know happen every single year.

Depends what kind of alignment your talking about. Because it's been calculated that their will never be a full planetary alignment in the Solar System's lifetime.

They didn't stop making the calendar though, I've explained this before. It doesn't end for some ridiculous amount of time.

I know. It was a generalized assumption by many people.

True, sorry i noticed i worded it completely wrong.

Sun-Earth and the center of the galaxy should it be.

no it won't.

I don't see why people even bother with this, sure the guy that made this 'discovery' got some attention for a while, but let's assume for argument's sake that he's right... It's not like he's going to be famous after 2012 is it?

:banghead:

Due to some ancient Mayan "prophecy" (that is probably severely misinterpreted), the world is going to come to a sudden end on On December 21st, 2012, no exceptions. This happens to be exactly one year from today (:scared: so scary, I know :sly: ). What are you going to do with your last 365 days before the whole population of the world (about 7 billion people) all dies at once for no apparent reason?

Edit: I don't believe the world will actually end, but there has been some mass hysteria among the gullible population about it. This thread is just for fun. Sorry for the mix up there...

Yay, my liver will not kill me!

But seriously, who believes such proclamations anyway?

...Actually Mayan Historian have come out and said that nothing in the studies show the world will end, and it is just a simple change of cycle in the Mayan calander. Also I'm not sure how people could get some powerful complex world ending from text that some were destroyed by the Spaniards and others dont even hint at the world ending. The idea of earth colliding with a black hole, a planet x/nibiru or the poles flipping isn't something that Mayan scholars have ever found, and why would the Mayans be worried about our modern threats?

Next year is a leap year, so it's actually a year and a day.

Oh I didn't know that. But think about it... There are 365 days until December 20th (when you can do what ever you want) and on the 21st we all die! :D:👍 So really it is 365 days...

...Actually we'd die on the 20th if it were true, since like the other user said it is a leap year.

I will complain about PD 7 times, compliment them 37 times, get one visit from Santa, watch the Police talk to my neighbors 4 times, be nice to my wife for 364 days, restart GT5 3 times, give away 100 gold chrome chips, turn 40, watch my Mother turn 60, watch my Daughter turn 5, search through countless hours of Internet porn, paint 71 cars pink in GT5 and post here nearly every day. :)

Mayan prophesy - pah! The didn't see the Spanish coming, did they? :sly:

No GT6 then...

I will complain about PD 7 times.

*looks at calendar on phone* "Oh damn, todays the sixth! I'm late for an appointment I had with GTPlanet to complain about anything and everything PD does for no particular reason other than that they didn't read my wishlist thread and include everything I listed! Its okay because even if they did grant my wishes I would still find something so horribly wrong with all of it to 🤬 and moan about.

Yes, I understand its 366 days until the 21st, but in the context I wrote the OP in we would have just 365 days to "do stuff" because we will all die on day 366 so we can't do any "stuff." Either way, this argument is getting to technical for me to have an interest in continuing it. Not only that, its a pointless argument.

I think cinemas around the world should show 2012 on the apparent last day of the world. Then we all laugh and throw popcorn at the screen because it won't happen.

I'll take up the art of prostitution.

I'm going to perish anyway, right? Might as well sell my damn body.
