GT has always done a very good job of replicating the way an auto "feels" when you play it. That has always been the #1 draw to this series for me.

it is no fun to go and buy "Arcade Racer X" for its "high-end Supercar X"
only to have it handle just like a nos-equiped pick-up from GT.

I have suffered this plenty of times and probably will continueto do so :ouch:
because GTs are only updated every decade or so.

One day (on PS5) GT will have 1,000,000 cars and every brand will be represented, but even then I will not be happy b/c the vey latest cars would not be included. We are tellin' PD to chase a moving finish line. all I can ask of them is to continue to make an effort to expose me, the player, to more varied cars that feel diffrent from ones I've been playing since GT1.

Oh and for the record I would slang crack rocks off of the White House lawn (to bush himself) if it would alow me to try a Fxx wit PD's physics, Ferrari engines are the most beautiful thing mankind has ever produced. Only PD could do them justice in a GT.

...and nothing turns like a Porche (try the Rufs)

...and Lambo...It's a rageing bull for heavens sake!

Think of the emotions evoked from ur favorite car when you push the limit, and be a fan of automobiles like Mr.Kaz. don't hate, paticipate, wit some late brakes!

^ OT-> Oops, double post!!!

BT-> I don't see why some licenses are so hard to get (LamPorFerra for example)? Why is Sony and PD holding themselves back too much, limiting the gameplay of GT? And as of now, most of Forza players are laughing thier arses off because they have almost everything that GT doesn't have, but I will keep hold on my faith to PD as much as possible. (:

Either way, I don't see GT5 having close to 1000 cars, at least not on the disk.

PD could put 1500 cars on the new Blu-Ray discs. :) Is the PS3 going to use them as the primary game disc?

i dunt no y everyone wants supercars in the game. all the games were good without them so y the big fuss?? imo exoctic cars to me are the NSX, skyline, supra, RUFS, etc. IMO Ferrari, Lambourghini, etc. doesn't really fit the GT for me

All PS3 games will be on Blue-Ray, and PD could have fit over 1500 cars on the GT4 DVD, but space isn't the issue, time is. Let's assume it'll take maybe 2 weeks work for each car to be moddeled in GT5, PD would need 20 modellers and 3 full years with them 20 people doing nothing but creating new cars to hit 1500 car models and then they'd still need to model everything else in the game like the wheels, tracks , envoronments and bodykits (if any appear). It's not happening anytime soon, expect GT5 to have less cars than GT4, probably a lot less.

It's probably going to be like GT2 to GT3, GT2 had way more cars, but when they made the massive leap to the PS2, GT3's car database got slashed from GT2, but GT3 still had some new rides. I'm just going to predict that right now...;)

ummmmm, yes.
I'd pay an extra 10$ for the game, just to have them.

EDIT: now that I've read some stuff here, let's get this straight: GT4 doesnt have 700 cars. nowhere near that. when you subtract 31 skylines, 8 civics, 7 rx-7's, 5 VR4's, 6 240sx's, as you go down this line, I'd imagine, off the top of my head, they didnt drive nearly all the cars in the game, I'd say they drove an R34, one edition, and simply relied on the physics engine for differences in weight, power, and such.
and probably did the same for cars like, the '74 Z, and the '78 Z (whatever the numbers).
so there's probabley, in reality, less than 500, likely around 400 DIFFERENT cars in GT4.
but it depends on your definition of different.

I think you'd have a lot of trouble finding 280 duplicate cars in GT4, but knock yourself out trying. :P

And yes, I'll have the Big Three to go at launch, please.

Someone did a count of the car list and I think it was 400 and odd actual different base models and then a little over 200 variations.

I'm curious if they were including things like the Skyline R34 and the Calsonic JGTC Skyline.

Frankly I like having a base 350Z and the Gran Turismo Elite Edition 350Z. If some of you want to grouch about that, you'll grouch about anything. :P

I actually thought they could have picked a better black color for that Gran Turismo Edition Fairlady Z/350Z. To my knowledge, this has been the first time a video game endorsed a car. Like I say, love or hate Gran Turismo. But this game has done more within and outside the video game realm than almost any other racing game in history. I think all these variations is a good thing for one good reason- value. You may not have the most powerful model out the gate, but you will get a grade of a certain car for your money. Take the S15 Silvia for example. The weakest model is the Varietta (right?), while the best model is the lovely Spec-R Aero. Better costs more. And at least you can work with a weaker car to make it shine as much as you can.

I'm just curious... for those who think I oppose any notion of supercar companies in GT5, how many of you were surprised that I selected "Yes?" If not, carry on with the topic.

How great would it feel when everyone on GTP was trying to find settings for a full tune Enzo on Nurburgring? Or everyone is trying to get the highest top speed they can with the koenigsegg? Right now, there is a great level playing field. When a person picks up the game they could easily fall in love with any number of cars. When someone picks up Forza or PGR3 they're all going affter the same cars, basically. It's not a game of individuality. It doesn't respect the uniquness of every individual racer and drifter. GT has done this beautifully. Most of the people I have talked to agree that a lot of supercars have been disapointing and so they'll settle on many different cars that had they been given LamPorFerrari they most likely would have skiipped over. I know when I first got GT I wanted the fastest most awesome cars. But in the end, it came down to what cars fit me.

I would love to have the thrill of thrashing Twin Turbo 360 Modena with a drift body kit, custom exhaust, and a gun metal paint job with custom black tribal graphics. Some 19" white 10 spoke wheels would be nice too.

It's not a loss for me if they are not in the game. I've enjoyed the BMWs in GT4 more than any other car. I hope to continue showing my appreciation and individuality through Gran Turismo.

^ OT-> Heh, heh, thats why I didn't get a used STI and picked a new WRX wagon instead. Because even the WRX sedan/STI has an endless parts supply, I have faith that my wagon has endless tuning potential (better F/R weight ratio). (:

^ That would be a Koenig-tuned 360 Modena with a Tubi Exhaust and a Hamann bodykit. Sweet! (:

BT-> I don't care if theres more supercars here or not, but as long as GT won't abandon regular (like Pontiac Grand Prix GXP and Honda Civic SI) and smaller (like Hyundai Accent or original 1999 Mini Cooper S) production cars. And also don't forget De Tomaso, and Ultima too. (:

I agree with everything 3spddrft said. I remember when I first got GT4 and the Dual force pro. I took the mini cooper S on Nurburgring. That was the first time I fell in love just from the drivin experience. The car wasn't that fast, but addin the fast techical course with a good handling car, made me fall in love with the game. Just from that alone. I never thought I would be playin a game just to cruise. I would love to cruise in an exotic. Despite opinions from everyone, PD should just put in everything so we have our choice of cruisers. But, I wouldn't cry if other exotics weren't in it.

isnt the "gran turismo" 350Z the exact same as a 35th anniv. edition? (IRL)
300hp, same wheels, yada,yada,yada?

and as far as using other cars, instead of the "big 3", you'll still be able to do that, if they're included, and most people will, sure, you'll drive 'em right away, a LOT, but that's 10 years and 4 games of repression, built up.
And for those who won't drive a type R, just because they have a ferrari, guess what? they already have a game with ferraris & such in it anyway.
(I have all the NFS games) hehehehehe...........

i'd love to see this cars =
1. pagani zonda
2. bugatti veyron
3. gumpert apollo sport
4. ferarri ffx
5. koenigsegg ccx
6. ariel atom

Yes, I want supercars in the game. I can't drive them in real life, so I want to at least get a glimpse of what they are like to drive. I'm happy with Pagani, Ferrari and maybe Porsche.

I'm not obsessed with them though, the slower stuff is usually more fun to drive. :)

We already have a pretty nice list of supercars in GT. The Pagani Zonda (the zonda F looks awesome), the RUF's, Ferrari's, and a few others.

I would be happy with the entire Ferrari catalog from 1980-2009. I love the 512TR and can't wait to get a few virtual laps in it.

Virtual boy's list pretty much summed up all the supercars i would like to see in GT. :)

You hit the nail on the head with that list, they need to have at least those cars to be able to in this day and age call them self the real driving simulator

I'd love to see Noble Cars included in the game, the M12 being my personal fave but the faster M15 is also a beast worthy of inclusion alongside all the other exotica.

all supercar here cited, but I add:

Ferrari 599FXX, Enzo FXX, Scuderia and F50
Lamborghini Revénton, Diablo SV (very agressive) and GTR Line
Zonda Roadster F

Go ahead, go after the Civics, and Integras...I'll go after the exotics. I own a Porsche & a Miata. While I can appreciate slow(er) fun cars in real life, I want to be able to choose a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or a Porsche in a videogame.

In the end, I want to be able to choose those cars, just like there are some who want to be able to choose normal cars or tuner cars.

Having options is a wonderful thing. Why should you care if the majority of gamers go after more prestigious marques? Why should you care if people skip over lesser cars? I wouldn't be offended if you skipped over my lowly Carrera 3.2 or Miata in a game...Besides, GT is all about experiencing all types of cars that includes supercars...

Having all the major supercar manufacturers in GT5 would be awesome for me. I enjoyed Ferrari in GT5P and Lamborghini and Porsche would add to that enjoyment if they incorporated them into GT5. :)
