Does not make sense to use a controller

GT6 is one of the few simulators which is optimised well for a DS3.Else how could I do 6:10 with GTR on nurburgring,6:53 with F1 SH,7:07 with F1 CS,2:24 with F1 at Spa,2:10 with F1 GTR spa,2:25 with MP4-12c spa,2:27 with Veyron.
And I don't use any tunes to make any car handle well except an enzo or veyron as they need some tune to reduce some understeer.
Optimised? You mean its well controllable and smooth (it is), but not optimised, otherwise you would have the same turning capacity as a wheel.
Find a very skilled driver that does well in both wheel and a controller, and he should always be faster on a wheel.

Nurburgring is perhaps a rare case of wheel advantage disappearing because of so many corners, rough surface and all that stuff, that makes it tough for wheel players.

Yes,I mean controllability
Try other tracks like spa my laptimes are
Mclaren F1 GTR Longtail 2:05
Mclaren F1 GTR 95 2:10
Pagani Zonda R 2:12
Mclaren F1 2:24
Mclaren MP4-12c 2:25
Bugatti Veyron 2:27
Pagani Huayra 2:25

In Spa depending on the car you can gain time with a wheel in Eau Rouge, Rivage, Pouhon and Stavelot. So yeah, all the tracks that have some fast and long corners which require a lot of steering capacity

To front camber add also rear camber, front toe and rear toe. All set to zero, instead of the ridiculous values that come standard, and are there to produce stupid understeer - And I suppose that is for making the non-skilled drivers happy. Those non-skilled drivers that can't control a tailhappy car at all and want all the cars to be rear planted on the ground like they are on rails... Funny.

actually no it is to give the DS3 the most responsiveness possible

wrong completely the opposite case because it has so many more corners where they are more wheel friendly and can gain more time compared to the DS3. what you are noticing is the lack of driver skill.

I dont really understand any of those two replies.

So to give more responsiveness, the controller has to steer less? Why?

Nurburgring is a very tough track for wheel players because they have to steer so many times in very little time it gets a bit tiring for them, on the other hand the controller is completely different.

nurburgring isn't a tough track you just need the skill set to do so. the fastest right and left handers is where the DS3 looses time because it can only turn so much before you have to release the gas to decrease your turning radius at any given speed.

It is not responsiveness, it is simply steering capacity. Esp. the toe. If you have positive rear toe, understeer increases, and thats a fact

nope, camber in this game reflects on having less grip which reduces steering responsiveness. it does not change steering capacity. you turn the same amount. The same with positive rear toe. as it doesn't effect the front tyres turing so the steering capacity is the same. what would change steering capacity is if say one of the front wheels were missing or your analog or button sensors were dead and you weren't able to turn, only then you will have less steering capacity

It makes sense to use a controller only if you don't have a wheel, or cannot afford one.

All times in my signature were obtained using a controller. I acknowledge that I'd be at least a few tenths faster across the board with a wheel, if not an entire second or two. But I must work with what I have for now.

If you are saying DS3 has more advantage than steering wheel then I challenge you to beat my nurburgring laptime of 6:10.962 with F1 GTR Short tail stock with a DS3 or Wheel. What you are showing is lack of skill.
And don't say that DS3 users can't keep up with wheel drivers,I don't have any problem with DS3.All you have to do is steer gently many times rather than turning hard single time.
It is just like saying mclaren f1 is a bad car just because it has more body rolls and is twitchier than other supercars.Infact my laptimes for production car are fastest with mclaren f1.I feel it is virtually impossible to beat it on most of the track when combined with its precise handling, when compared to other production cars not racecars.

It is not that I can't afford a wheel,it is just that I don't like to waste money if I can do well with a DS3.
Yes,I do think I can do a little better with wheel due to throttle control.I have tried a Ferrari F1 simulator,it was easy to control.

I'm a little confused. If he beats it with either wheel or pad, or doesn't beat it. What does any of that prove? There are seconds to be had in your laps. It's quite possible for him to beat them, or not. Depending on his familiarity with the ring and his own skill level.

Now if someone went back and beat dholland's stock C7 around the ring with a DS3 (on the same game version) that might mean something. Well I don't think that would prove anything either.

I'm still confused. I don't understand what's to be gained from this challenge.

as in TRL_Holl?

Last time I checked it was GTP_DHolland. He won the Nurburgring TT with the stock masked corvette or whatever that thing is called..

I you don't believe I did 6:10.962 watch that video I have put here.

I don't think I ever mentioned not believing you. In fact I absolutely believe you because I know that it's possible to go a few seconds faster than what you have posted.

My question is. What's the point of the challenge? If someone beats your time, what does that prove? If someone doesn't beat your time, what does that prove?

Considering the thread title and all. I don't think I quite understand.

Eh I'll leave that part out.

And another thing. Posted replays meant to show speed or a superb lap should be done so with bumper cam or chase cam.

I have found that setting the front and rear toe and camber to 0 each increases corning speed significantly. On road cars in gt6 I am getting up to 10 to 15 mph faster in the corners on the indy race course. A car like the mercedes sauber I am getting atleast 70mph faster in the corners on the same course. I have spring rate, ride height, dampers, toe, camber, lsd and aero adjusted to get the increase cornering speed that I mention which worked on almost all my cars. The toe and the camber has to be set at 0 front and rear.

great to hear!

^^lol.

0.00 camber is definitely the way to go. And the extreme stock toe settings are garbage.

Pretty sure some minor toe settings are usefull though are they not?

Is it really 0 camber AND toe NO MATTER WHAT ALL THE TIME?

before or after the camber and toe stock changes?
I have not touched with the settings of this car except oil change to give it 630hp(BPR version had 630hp).

Okay then I will upload the video with both bumper and onboard lap today and even the ghost replay to show that it is stock.I had done that lap to prove that F1 GTR is better than Zonda R.I aimed to beat the laptime of Zonda R in the leaderboard with it.I don't want to prove anything it is just to see if it can go faster or if it is its absolute limit. The challenge was just for competition not to gain or prove anything.

But I posted about it because the thread says it
Does not make sense to use a controller

Which is not true in my opinion.
I never modify the settings of the car unless and until they understeer a lot like Veyron or Enzo.

He wasn't asking if you changed the settings. He was asking on what version of the game you did that lap on. There was an update that radically changed the way stock cars handle. If you don't know what version it was, check the details of the replay and let us know the date of the recording.

Once again, I never said that it wasn't stock. In fact no one ever said that.

You seam quite proud of these laps. If you want us to see what you are proud of you should use bumper/chase cam so we can see your lines, braking points, and throttle control ect.... We can't really see any of that on the replays you provided.

If someone beats my time then I will try to beat their time.I posted it because the thread says it

If you plan on running a lap time challenge. You should put it in the appropriate part of the forum. (Spot races and time trials or something similar to that) it's easy to find in the online racing section.

And I'm just being cheeky at this point, but uploading your lap doesn't prove if using a DS3 does, or doesn't make sense :)

Version was 1.06 date recorded was around a 2 months ago.I am not proud of my lap it is just that I think it can go faster than this, with a steering and without aids.I used default settings except grip set to real.Okay I will make a leaderboard for this car's laptimes

1.06 was released April 7 2014 :odd: So was it 2 months ago you did the lap for sure?

You used aids  Did you use skid recovery force? Which by default is set to on.

Okay I will make a leaderboard for this car's laptimes

Sounds good man I'll definitely participate in that competition. You should Include the road car as well! (I'm much more interested in running that one!)

i've found 0 camber all round most useful, however when just going after lap time a few of my teammate use up to 0.2 camber. as camber for what ever reason just feels to give more curb grip so you can hit the curbs and your car just doesn't push off the apex or wheels don't slide . Of course they use wheels though.

I use minor toe settings on a few hard to drive cars; i use 0.20 rear toe on my FGT and i use about rear toe 0.6 on my R18, just so you can use a loose LSD and get a better corner exit on throttle. It helps me in those situations, but it could just be because i am terrible in high downforce cars lol.

I use assists for track like nurburgring with RWD because I always spin out at karussell corner remember I did 6:53 with F1 by spinning out there and yes that run was done with all assist off.I have not updated since 1.06
Yes,I will include roadcars but you can only use max of CS tires for roadcars the tracks will be spa, nurburgring, suzuka, motegi, nurburgring gp,monza with chicane.

Edit:This is the thread for leaderboard
