Does the good in GT Sport outweigh the bad, or vice-versa?

  • Good outweighs bad.

  • Bad outweighs good.

  • It's 50/50.

  • The good doesn't justify the bad.

  • I don't like the game concept in general.

I voted 50/50.

I honestly could care less about the car count. I generally find a car two that I like and use them exclusively.

What bothers me the most is all the silly fantasy cars especially when they are available to race with all the real cars. Give me a break. GR3 races should only include actual GR3 cars. Same goes for for the other classes. The VW cars piss me off the most (VGT and Beetle).

If the track list is improved with more real tracks and some of the old GT originals, the ranking, matchmaking, and penalty systems get improved, Sport mode races become more frequent and more abundant, I would have nothing to complain about.

In it’s current state, 6/10.

What's there is mainly OK, but there is so much missing (already mentioned by many others), i can only give it 4/10 for now. More tracks, cars, a better credit/mileage system (currently getting more miles than i can spend, always at 99999), better or no gift car system, more missions, online TTs (longer than 1 day) or friends ranking in Arcade, clubs, etc. and i would maybe go up to 8/10.

It will never be a real driving simulator anyhow, fake news ;-)

I play video games to de-stress after working long hours at night (9-morning) trying to string together a bunch of notes that dont make people want to commit acts of violence on me. GT Sport has made me genuinely miss working and lament my days off. Is it 9pm yet? No dangit. Oh look I COULD race a daily on the Ring today with HARD tires, and no tuning allowed? But WHY on earth would I want to do that? I will put the garbage out instead, way more fun.

Content aside, it's easily an 8.5/10.
I HATE real-world tracks, especially modern ones designed for F1 races. Why someone would prefer a track that has been creatively neutered by the powers at be, over a Fantasy track that has unlimited potential, is beyond me.
My only gripes are - AI is still a bit too slow, it's very competitive in a custom race if you drive like a civilized person. If you dive bomb and cut corners it's a chump walk.
- Can't share custom events ( like in drive club)
- The N classes are completely borked passed N 600
- the lack of seasonal events
- No GT auto ( I think this was replaced by the livery editor)
- Inability to buy parts
- MOST FEATURES LOCKED BEHIND ONLINE

I think the campaign mode is just the right length, Campaign mode was basically just arcade races strung together. I laugh when people fail to realize that. If Custom race allowed us to strong races together championship style, i wouldn't care if the campaign mode disappeared forever .

I understand that you would like tuning, but why is racing with hard tyres on the ring a problem? It's a endurance track after all.

Yes endurance indeed. but its TWO laps! That might as well be qualifying where you WOULD use soft tires. If I see hard tires I want an hour ling race at least.

Overall I'd say it's an 8/10 game. Offline on its own I'd have a hard time rating anything over 6/10 since it's too simplified and not enough content; but the Sport mode is implemented quite well and gives the otherwise limited game a good boost. The lack of content -- tracks more so than cars tbqh -- limits how good Sport mode can really push it as you're always replaying the same tracks. Almost feels like a glorified Prologue in that regard, even if that's a bit harsh.

I feel the game has more polish than GT5-6 although the lack of a GT mode makes it difficult to truly compare them. That said, I feel like GT Sport has/had potential to be ~9/10 if it had a proper GT mode. For what it tries to do, I think it does quite well, but the most disappointing thing is how it limited its reach from the very beginning which really shoots itself in the foot for how good of a game it can be. Feels more like a spinoff title than a proper Gran Turismo game, which it kind of actually is.

The game has enough tracks, Except 5 of the 16 of the 17 locations are Ovals /Dirt tracks. The rally is quite enjoyable using N car's, not so much Gr.b

i totally sympathize with everyone's complaint on the tracks. i totally get it and i don't disagree. but i personally can't make the complaint when i haven't even mastered all of the tracks yet. there's so much to work on and discover. weird little corners i'm finding where i can go flat out if i hit it right... this whole new package has exposed me to a different way of approaching all of these courses.

All the real world tracks minus Interlagos/horse thief mile. I have run hundreds of laps on. Im quite enjoying the fictional tracks though, the Kyoto tracks are downright perfect and are up there with Trail mountain/ Grand Valley. Lake Maguire is fun but a very boring track to hot lap. I know people hate fictional tracks, and PD will probably add Real world tracks as DLC. A shame really. Only real world track id like to see is Lemans / Laguna Seca . I'd rather PD bring back all fictional tracks than touch another ******, offense to motorsports, modern real-world circuit. Objectively all modern race tracks are designed to minimize speed/ flow. Modern/updated tracks based on F1 cars are ABSOLUTELY molasses for non F1 cars. Don get me wrong, the tracks are great on F1 machines, but in a GT3 machine / Sports car, yeah no.

i wish they would release both current iterations as well as banned/retired iterations of the real world courses. can you imagine de le sarthe without all of those modern chicanes? pure madness

They had it in gt5/6. The Senna DLC also had the old F1 tracks that were incredibly enjoyable.

if we get a paved and unpaved Pike's Peak DLC, I'll be stoked. a Pike's Peak downhill would be some fun bizaro world lunacy too.
The Gr b cars would be fantastic on long dirt roads. they have too much HP for the little dirt tracks PD made. Seriously, take a VW golf to a dirt track. Rallying suddenly becomes enjoyable .

The 2/5 rating on amazon is right, which translates to 4/10. I do not have a PSN+ membership so this is for the single player only. Perhaps it would rate higher with multiplayer but obviously I can't test that right now. Also, it would be easy for Sony to raise the rating by giving away a bunch of free DLC with more cars, more tracks (especially tracks from older games), and adding cup races against the AI.

One more thing, recently SIEE (Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe) offered free PSN+ for several days. They should offer a similar trial period in the USA. Would allow more people to sample the multiplayer.

8.5-9/10

Few more tracks and some adjustment to g29 ffb and im happy. The online racing has been my main point by far since gt5.

Most of the lower scores seem to come from people who still expected gt7 and haven't taken in count gt sport never was supposed to be that game. Ive been a bit surprised even many "professional" journalists cant seem to understand the idea behind GT sport.

In Amazon I understand the disappointment, but rating a game agains false expectations due to not proberly finding out the facts before purchase is not fair for the game. PDI has been very clear this is not the usual GT game.

GT sport just isnt a game one can rate after few hours of game, and if you dont like online racing its not the right game for you.

The "facts" were that all features from previous games were to be included in GTS and nothing has been dropped. After you see the franchise creator make that statement, why would there be any need to investigate further? You already know there will be a course maker, big offline career, lots of customization etc.

Or are you saying that the head of the franchise was not to be believed? If not, what source would be more reliable than that?

I'd be very happy if Laguna Seca, Le Mans, Spa, Monza and Silverstone turned up. Portimao would be nice too. Agreed on modern F1 tracks, wouldn't be fitting anyway, should at least be where GT3 races are good.

You can keep Tokyo (noticed you didn't mention that one!). Fantasy ovals have even less appeal to me than real ones (if that's possible). Kyoto is OK but a bit dull. Dragon's is fine except for the do-or-die mickey mouse chicane. Alsace is meh. Lago Maggiore is the best of the bunch, quite challenging in reverse, with some decent passing opportunities. All IMO, of course :)

What I'm trying to say is that PD's fantasy tracks are a bit of a lottery, don't always reach the potential, and for that reason I'd prefer real-world tracks to come.
