Downshift Protection

He's downshifting as fast as you could pump the lever into La Source. In fact that looks so fast it's like auto downshifting to me.

Yet it is real life... That's what I'm saying, the modern GT3's (current generation) have similar gearbox's to formula cars... yet they are so conservative in PC2
And in what way is that different than what i'm doing in the video above exactly?

You are driving an FA (F1) car... they have very fast gearbox's which is simulated in PC2 accurately...

I think that its a great system to have in place, and very realistic, but is far too strict atm. Watch some onboard footage of GT3 cars and look how fast they gear down and pay close attention to the rev ranges. The DPS is far too strict (in GT3 category) compared to real life IMO (watching a metric S@#$ ton of GT3 Racing) ... So hopefully it is fixed in the next patch.

Edit: Example

That has to be the worst steering wheel I've seen in a modern race car. :odd: :yuck:

That video was made just because when I did it it was impossible (word used) according to other guy at the time to do like an F1.

I do drive GT3 cars however and I don't have issues with them (namely the Huracan and the 911) either.

But, since SMS will make this more tolerant, it's kind of pointless to keep discussion.

Dejà vu ...

I agree! The DPS will effect certain drivers differently based on how hard you drive the car etc. However, Like the video I posted, we should be able to drive the cars harder than what's available.

It's not. You can downshift as fast as you can/the gearbox allows as long as you're dropping revs fast enough to not be over the 105% rev limit. 👍 The speed that you can downshift does vary per car though.

The common but not exclusive problem I have, is that there is no way I'm going anywhere near the rev limiter on downshifting. Sometimes by my 2nd attempt at a downshift usually half a second later, the revs are so low it's even out of the powerband, which almost defeats the object of DPS.

Keep. The closer to authentic the better, I am always running full damage, authentic tc, abs, etc.
A combination of engine braking modulation with left foot braking.

In any short enduro that I happen to run 10-20 laps / 30 min races .... Always looking after the tyres, engine and gearbox.

I realise its a game, however I have taken my daily driver on the track *for those interested - Winton, Sandown and Phillip Island.
Always looking after the tyres, engine and gearbox. I drive there and my daily driver has to get me home.
