Drag tuning basics

MAFIA BOY!!! WAKE UP!! I need some feedback on my Veyron…it's too inconsistent. Or rather, I'm too inconsistent, it's not fast enough…

Ok, TT3AZ, from what I gather, running a very high camber in the front on a rear wheel drive car reduces the amount of friction that is caused by the rubber on the road kind of like this: Envision this as a tire, zero camber - Ll and here with 10.0 camber \/. Now I know that it won't get that v-shape (can't do much better with a keyboard), but with the camber it's angling the tire so you're basically only getting the edge of it, and significantly reduced friction.

Toe I'm not so sure of, but here's my theory: On a 4WD car maxing the toe in opposite directions creates opposing forces that cause for more grip (one set is pushing out, the other pulling in) and then in terms of straight line speed cancel each other out by merit of the fact that they wind up equaling zero between the two. On a RWD car I am not as sure, but it would make sense to think that running a high positive toe would do something on the start in terms of grip and stability,

I am now stonewalled at 252Mph in my Veyron...

Did you zero the toe and camber? And did you break it in? Every little counts. Before I broke my Veyron in when it was at 1250, I was doing 267MPH. After, with 1256hp, it was going 269MPH.
 
Well actually Automatic 1500hp supra's are normal. I live in Florida and we have Titan Motorsports. The company who holds about 15 records for Supras. Literally the largest Supra tuneing shop. They use Auto :) Actually most ppl with Supras like that use auto. Reason bein. With a car that has that much power u loose too much power when u shift. There can also be mis-shifts. Automatics dont have Boost lag like Manuals ;) so ur well thaught out argument against the truth was actually weak and easly proved wrong. Sry. Not trying to be rude but ppl have the wrong idea about Auto cars.

Manual is good for Circuit. You can easily choose the gear u need and maintain ur ur RPM's and speed.

That's weird, cuz I went to their website and found many high powered supras that were stick. And how do automatics not have boost lag? So is what your saying is if you have 2 identical supras with huge turbos, one stick and one auto, when they both launch from a low RPM, the auto should pull away? :dunce:

Not sure if this has been covered yet... But just looking to get my Honda to hook up(well both of them CRX90&EK97)They are both maxxed out... But I've got terrible wheel spin... Can anyone help me out... PSN xSloan_Ketterman thnx in advance...
 
Ok, I'm in need of some help as well. I asked mafs this yesterday. But in my Veyron, when I hit 230mph in 6th, the front of the car lifts (Very visibly), the revs literally spike up. In the process of this, the speed climb seems to be even more dramatic. Now, I think mafs said this was called the 'boost multiplier' or something like that and it's to do with the gearbox. I don't want to know if it can be extended, but rather to learn how it works. In as simple a form as possible please :D

I want you to read what you just said and really think about your questions. The fastest shift record in the world is held by an automatic transmission. In a "perfect" world it is possible the the auto and manual would be close in a 1/4 mil drag. But the world isant perfect is it? While urgetting ready to shift an automatic has already done it. Sry to burst ur bubble. So the answer to your question is YES. the auto would beat ur manual. Ohh and ur dunce thing shows a lot. ;)

Also those cars dont launch at low RPM so ur arguement is invalid. High RPM=High Spool

Now a poorly tuned car with a non pro built race trans would loose to ur manual bc ur choosing your shift and the poorly built trans is lagging in shift.

Umm... I was never arguing that you could shift faster in manual, you do shift quicker in an auto. As for the drag race, the auto car would win because of shifts, not because it had "no boost lag".

I don't know, I got bored and left TBH. No one was running Veyrons, those who did didn't know how to drag, and I don't have any other drag car. And don't you have kids? Don't they miss your attention? I know that if my dad spent all night up and was asleep for the whole day, I'd be pretty worried about him. Especially when, from what I've read somewhere here a while back, you don't seem to be having the best luck with your health.

Oh...I hope he gets better soon, is it one of those really bad ones or just the 'normal' stuff <--- you can see why I'm not planning on being a doctor when i grow up, can't you :lol:, but you just spend your time staying up drag racing and swearing at things for not working or for being too stupid :D well, who kick you? Ok i was trying to save u the embarrassment of making you look like a muppet. Automatics in real life are faster than manuals. (talking about ur Supra statement) if i need to quote i will. Lord knows ur not to smart. Manuals have much more boost lag than Auto trans bc of the fact you have to shift manualy. Your boost falls off. If u disagree please call your local high performance tuneing shop and ask them to slap the crap out of you for me.

Official drag cars with huge fat tires and wheelie bars, yes, they are most likely auto. But, strangely we don't have these in GT5, we have regular street cars, which when I last checked are driven by people who use manual. When was the last time you saw an automatic 1500hp supra? Real car enthusiast know that Auto trans high horsepower race cars are better in Auto than Manual.

Famous, I know you're just keeping it real bro but trust me man, the mods enforce the AUP pretty strictly and I don't want you overstepping it you know (eg. calling people muppets directly, a no no ;)). They like new members even if they have old minds for snacks if they mess up. 👍

Lightning, you taking a swipe at Famous was uncalled for. I know him personally and he's got a wicked collection of SSR7 rides. If we are dealing with SSR7 then 1st is ALWAYS the gear you want to launch in, regardless of the ride. Indy is different in some aspects but I'll go and run there with my tunnel tunes and still hold up well at Indy.

Sorry about that Mafia. I will watch what i say. Probably need a little thicker skin if im going to stay on these forums. I tried to put this conversation to rest but he insisted on insulting my knowledge of cars and tuning. on GT5 i wouldn't mind but in real life i take it personal because i know what im talking about.

Lightning. U said to show you a 1500hp auto Supra so i did and you still kept on. plain and simple. They do exsist and they are faster than manuals. When i race in real life i use auto tran for 1/4 mil. I almost always win.
 
Guys... Come on...

Focus on my stupidly slow Veyron! Ya got a noob with no clue needin help here in the 'Drag Tuning Basics' thread!

I was thinking about the camber thing on the Veyron, and wondering would it make sense to run 7.0 front 3.0 rear camber seeing as only 70% of the power is to the rear?
