Dream Alliance Sidestories - Takanori's Unicorn

That's a lot of research there. Fine job.

I love that Audi TT. It's one of my 500pp warriors. Battling understeer like no tomorrow.

Entry 4 - The Little Hachi That Could

Konnichiwa! Today we are here at the recently refurbished Ibaraki Circuit. Our show is one of the sponsors for the Clubman Race.

I am just drinking a bottle of water, to keep me cool from this hot weather. But Nobuyuki here is fascinated at one of the entrants.

9549854271_54c8260137_c.jpg

A Hachiroku Levin. Well, here is its competition...

9552643448_ed18aaf228_c.jpg

Ummmm.... not that I'm underestimating nor trashing on Hachirokus, but one must be realistic. This is not a cartoon...

Nobuyuki: "Can that little Levin beat them all? I am fascinated on the original Hachiroku, you know? I own a Toyota 86, but I just wonder why everyone loves the original."

9549853915_cdc6d0e272_c.jpg

It's so weak taking off. Look at its rivals...

9549853795_db3951f70d_c.jpg

Whoa... he caught them at the first corner???

Nobuyuki: "Go little Hachiroku!"

And it gives a good tap on one of the rivals.

9552642980_7d50a0513c_c.jpg

9549853401_b065841c68_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Takuma-san... even that can drift."

Takuma: "Thank goodness. Finally, you are not calling me Chun-Li anymore!"

Takanori: "Let's face it though, Aniki has somehow muscular thighs."

Takuma: "I don't intend having those crazy muscular thighs. I don't wanna be a horse!"

9549853275_e642cdc2eb_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "I know you can catch the remaining two! Don't give up!"

9549853327_f6b67eddb8_c.jpg

Takanori: "I wonder what's running under the hood of that Levin?"

Takuma: "It doesn't matter. The Levin's handling is what makes up for that lack of power."

9552642410_1236a9b96d_c.jpg

9552642340_4cde26f29a_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Unreal... the Hachiroku took the lead. I wanna meet the driver. I am so fascinated with the car!"

9552642130_19e747d357_c.jpg

Unbelievable... that Levin won. Well, it won fair and square.

However, before Nobuyuki could meet its driver, the driver already left.

Nobuyuki: "Oh nuts... I sure hope he enjoys that cash prize he won today."

Takuma: "Let's go. We still have research work that needs to be done back in the office."

**********************************************************

The next day...

It was a lunch break. Nobuyuki volunteered to buy us some lunch at the nearby convenience store. I'm hungry... I didn't even have breakfast.

Nobuyuki: "Oh... what a pleasant surprise! That Hachiroku is parked just at the alley beside the store! Could it be a customer???"

He gets in the store, and after purchasing the take-out meals, he could not get his eyes off the Levin. The silver-haired cashier looks at him in confusion.

Cashier: "Something wrong with my car???"

Nobuyuki: "Woah. You own that!? You are one hell of a racer! You just owned those sports cars yesterday! How come you work here??? Oh, what's your name by the way?"

Cashier: "My name is Shiro Chouji. Pleased to meet you."

Nobuyuki: "My name is Nobuyuki Hiramoto. Pleased to meet you too. I am one of the hosts of Motoring Weekly."

Shiro: "I watch your show too."

Nobuyuki: "Thank you very much. Well, ummm... I know it's absurd, but..."

Shiro: "What is it?"

Nobuyuki: "Can you let me drive your car? I am just so fascinated with it! Tomorrow is my day off, but you are probably not available then..."

Shiro: "Don't worry, sir. I have a day off tomorrow too. We can go to Suzuka together. Besides, I do plan to run the car there."

Nobuyuki: "Really!? Thank you very much!!!"

After the purchase, Nobuyuki and Shiro head out to look at the car once again. The latter opens up the hood.

Nobuyuki: "Whoa... a 4AGE 20 Valve Black Top! Brilliant! I assume this is where all of your salaries go."

Shiro: "Most of it, yes. I saved up for that engine for a year. Then I also beefed up the suspension and brakes. It also runs on Sports tires as well."

Nobuyuki: "That's why you can catch those opponents."

Shiro: "I love that engine. I am careful not to break it, of course."

Nobuyuki: "I am more than excited to run this tomorrow. You just gave me a sleepless night."

**********************************************************

Location: Suzuka Circuit, Mie Prefecture
Time: 10 am, the next day

9552641924_9000345127_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Hey! This engine loves to rev! This is unreal!"

9552641854_0ba805fae6_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "And the cornering is just... mesmerizing. No wonder so many people love this car! It's a fun car to play with!"

9552641676_593069739b_c.jpg

Shiro: "It makes a bit over 200 horsepower."

Nobuyuki: "What makes it fun is that you have to rev the hell out of the engine and just dive into the corners! Sometimes, having a precise, top-notch supercar can be boring! Cars like these put a smile on our faces!"

9549852135_3650632168_c.jpg

9552641624_f9fecc1ef7_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "And this, of course, comes with the package!"

Then Nobuyuki decides to stop at the 130R.

9549851755_d5a2a3fcc4_c.jpg

The two head out of the car and visit Nobuhiko's memorial.

Shiro: "Do you make it a point to visit this memorial? Isn't he your little brother?"

Nobuyuki: "Yes. This place was a witness of his endeavors. He also died in this place, happily. He finally moved on after seeing a very happy reunion. He finally achieved the happiness he's been yearning for all his life. I miss him so much. I wish I could turn back time... and spend more moments with him even more."

Shiro: "I see..."

Nobuyuki briefly looks up the sunny sky. And then he turns back and pats on Shiro's shoulder.

Nobuyuki: "I wish you all the best. I'm sure you will be a great racer like him."

Then the two return to the pit garage, and Nobuyuki heads to the bathroom. Then Shiro puts up a smile on his face upon seeing Nobuyuki walking away.

Shiro: "There's something you must know...

...I am reincarnated, so...

...Little Nobu is back. Let's play again sometime, Aniki."

The Little Hachi That Could - End

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

Shiro Chouji - "Shiro" means "white" while "Chou" means butterfly. The "ji" is a suffix that means "young". Hence, Shiro Chouji means The White Young Butterfly, an insect that has been a recurring feature that represents Nobuhiko Hiramoto.

And yes, I can finally sleep without guilt. I BROUGHT HIM BACK!!!

Shiro would still be a minor recurring character, like that white butterfly. The Dream Alliance will never know Nobuhiko's reincarnation.

He will do a couple of races, though. Especially in the upcoming entry:

The Slashers

which is inspired by Kaido Battle's high level rivals.

However, it would not be the next. The next one would be about the tale behind Hiroyuki's McLaren.

Y'know, I was planning a crossover of Kaido Battle (TXRD2 here in America), GT5, and GT6 when it comes out... so just letting you know I didn't filch the idea from you.

How I'm going to be able to get pictures of TXRD2, I really don't know... might use the DSLR camera for that.

Entry 5 - My Failures

9555118704_ce3e0cc81b_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Hey! This is so fun!!!"

Hiroyuki: "Glad you liked it."

9552328673_df6a3f10dd_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Man, this car hates leadfoots!"

9555118370_e53dda177c_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "I told you that this is a demanding car to drive."

9552328223_31e178739d_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Otousan, are you okay?"

Hiroyuki: "I'm just tired, we've been running all day."

Nobuyuki: "Let's go home, then..."

**********************************************************

The two arrived home in Shibuya, Tokyo just in time for dinner.

9555118052_09fa501c01_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "That car felt great to drive! Won't you mind if I will feature this in the show or be featured in the magazine article I'm working on? I have been struggling to make a feature."

Hiroyuki: "Go ahead, I won't stop you."

Nobuyuki: "You sound so unenthusiastic. It's Saturday! Cheer up!"

Hiroyuki: "I am just tired."

Nobuyuki: "That's not usually the case for you when we have long trips. Something is bothering you."

Hiroyuki: "Oh well... time to spill it. Since you are back in the family, I guess it's time for you to know."

Kyoko: "Hiroyuki..."

Hiroyuki: "That car... is the prime reason why this family fell apart."

Nobuyuki: "What???"

Hiroyuki: "That's why I sometimes feel guilt whenever I drive it."

*********************************************************

Hiroyuki: "By the time we lost you, I was still racing. One fateful day, I was invited by Sir Ben McCarthy for the McLaren F1 One Make Series in Europe. I accepted his offer, and that was the start of the quarrels.

Just as the next round of JGTC is oncoming, I pack my things for my race in Suzuka. Your mother warned me that once I step out from that door, consider ourselves divorced. I took that step without hesitation, but I strongly believed that I am doing this for your little brother.

But, so as for Nobuhiko not to find out, I orchestrated my death in Suzuka by crashing at the 130R. Deep in my heart, I am apologizing...

And so I headed to Europe, to race in that series. I am still believing that I am doing this for Nobuhiko. Sir Ben bought the car, by the way."

9552327921_02487d9463_c.jpg

9555117612_e812aff29e_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "It was a tough series. I even made a rival... he's driving a black F1 and I forgot his name."

9552327501_98ce8f5410_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "All along, I was thinking if I truly made the right decision. Even though I was half a world away, I was secretly funding for Nobuhiko's education which your mother agreed to."

9555116992_0bc589afe9_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "However, the series folded due to economic recession. Sir Ben finally gave up on the car and just gave it away to me. He finds it too demanding to drive. Too noble, if you ask me."

9555117098_90d9e06b53_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "I was like carrying a huge burden. That car reminded me of the mistakes I did that end up in breaking this family. I was even contemplating on selling it, but..."

9555116572_726fcfafb5_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "The car also pushes me to be a better person, that I am racing for my family, not for glory. That I am still inspiring Nobuhiko to be the best racer. I decided to keep it... but unfortunately, he wasn't able to drive it in his entire life. I am riddled with guilt..."

Nobuyuki: "Otousan... don't blame yourself, nor the car. You just did what you have to do. A race car driver's life is tough. I would understand, because I am one. I know that we have to be away from our families for most of the time, but what we are earning is more than enough to support this family. Think of that car as the fruit of your hard work."

Kyoko: "I was too hasty to judge you. Seeing Nobuhiko racing even after the divorce made me realize that you are still a loving father."

Hiroyuki: "You think so???"

Nobuyuki: "Yes! And that's the reason why both of you reconciled. Now, shall we eat? The food will get cold."

**********************************************************

Monday, Nobuyuki arrives at work early to work on the magazine article for the next month's issue of Motoring Monthly. He also researches on the cars that can be reviewed for next week's episode of Motoring Weekly. The Kanonji twins arrive shortly.

Takanori: "Man, it's a miracle that we arrived earlier than our director."

Takuma: "Good morning, Nobuyuki. So, have you finally found something for the Driving Diary? The director is pushing for it."

Nobuyuki: "This past weekend, I drove Otousan's McLaren F1. It was a blast."

Takuma: "You are making me jealous."

Nobuyuki: "I will feature it for the Driving Diary segment. It's a proper car to be featured there. Hey, did both of you already found the location for it?"

Takanori: "We proposed that you would be taking it for a drive to Kyoto's Golden Pavilion."

Takuma: "That is an 8-hour drive from here."

Nobuyuki: "Perfect. Of course I'll be making a review and comments as I drive along. Perfect match for the segment. And besides, I want to make Otousan happy as he watches it."

My Failures - End

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- Hiroyuki will duel with that black McLaren soon (it's a crossover, right?)

- So far, I haven't received Mat's FD. The maintenance probably didn't allow sharing to happen.

:scared:

I'll try sending it sometime tomorrow. I have a copy of my savefile so no worries. 👍

Great page, by the way.

Great page.

Well, about the owner of that McLaren... lil spoiler from my part.

It was owned by Nash Kirkham, who's dead, causing the dissolution of Project Mythic. It's planned to be up for grabs to whoever wins the 4th Annual King of The Ring.

You'll have to wait till the end of my chapter 3, unless you want another spoiler so the duel can follow.. this is BIG spoiler stuff.

Nash isn't dead. He's the real identity of N.Z. Name him N.Z, not Nash.

Entry 6 - The Pink Army

Location: Route 5, Tokyo
Time: 1 am

Route 5 is deafened by silence, until...

9564196914_279806b533_c.jpg

...a pink Lamborghini Murcielago SV's exhaust note echoes the tunnel. Driving the car is none other than Makoto, who sneaks out from her husband's mansion to satisfy her racing exploits. Using a special app in her smartphone, she contacts all the members of the so-called "Pink Army" using voice messaging.

Makoto: "It's assemble time, girls. Where are you???"

9564196968_7d9c76d731_c.jpg

Kokoro: "Good thing my husband quickly fallen asleep. He's just tired. Anyway, I'm just about to leave the house. I'm on my way!!!"

9561406985_4a90fbc755_c.jpg

Sakura: "So, a street racing team challenges us for a race in Route 5? Interesting..."

9561406883_f1dd738892_c.jpg

Sasori: "And they're all men in supercars. Let's show 'em. I'm just around the corner."

Then everyone, save for Kokoro, have assembled. They are waiting not just for her, but also the rival street racing team to arrive.

Makoto: "As usual, Kokoro's late again."

Sakura: "Well, she tells me that she finds it hard to sneak out since Takuma-san sleeps rather late."

Sasori: "I have just finished my lesson plan for tomorrow. Well, time to let off steam!"

The rival team arrives. They are in supercars of various types. Some drivers are dressed in executive attire, like they just came from work or a night out.

Rival Member 1: "Just 4 of you??? You know very well that all of us run in Route 5 whenever we race."

Sasori: "There is still one coming up. As punishment though, she'll be racing you guys."

Rival Member 2: "Only one???"

Sakura: "Now... now... I find men dominating. Well, I suppose you love on toying on just one woman, eh?"

Then the leader comes out from his Cadillac CIEN.

Leader: "Is this a joke? Only one of you will race all of us?"

Sakura: "Yes. And she can handle you all."

Leader: "Really??? Well where is she, then? Making snacks for us?"

Sasori: "Save your laughter, boys. We might even do that later on..."

Finally, Kokoro arrives.

Rival Member 1: "Damn... she's hot. Her bosoms are just... But her Elise looks easy to beat..."

Kokoro: "Sorry! I guess I'll be racing again this time. I'm late again..."

Sasori: "You know our team rules. The last one arrives will race. Can you take them all on?"

Kokoro: "Absolutely. This Elise is a giant killer. So, shall we get going? Come on, you can go all out if you want. Don't pull your punches just because I'm a woman."

And so, they started to race. Kokoro even volunteered to start from behind.

9564196504_b9797db7ee_c.jpg

Kokoro: "Even girls can get behind the wheel and drive like there's no tomorrow."

9564196250_e5bf600110_c.jpg

Kokoro: "Where's all your mojo now, boys??? My husband can probably laugh at you right now."

9564196036_ddcf603611_c.jpg

Rival Member 1: "Whoa... damn. Her car is so fast!!!"

9561406251_7d06c1872c_c.jpg

Kokoro: "Gotta agree with my husband, GT-R's aren't all that great."

9561406107_66a2edaec5_c.jpg

9564195488_be332a084f_c.jpg

Leader: "What the!? She caught up!? Just what the hell is that team???"

9561405567_674bcd3318_c.jpg

Kokoro: "You're pathetic. I think even little Ben can drive this and still beat you all."

On their victory, the Pink Army receives cash from all the members of the rival team. And they all laugh in retaliation.

Sasori: "I think you boys make better cookies than us. Learn to drive! I'm a teacher! I can teach you all how!"

The rival racing team leaves them.

Sakura: "I guess our funds we collected are close to our target. We shall buy a new car for the team to use in future races."

Sasori: "Sounds good to me. I'll help you find a car for our endeavors in the race track."

Makoto: "Anyways, let's still keep this secret for now, okay? Especially for both of us, Kokoro. Our husbands don't know this..."

Kokoro: "Right. Oh no... let's go home. We have to be back in bed before our husbands know it!"

Makoto: "That's all for today, girls! We shall meet again soon. Just keep your phones in silent mode..."

And thus, the group disperses.

Kokoro arrives home, and she sneaks to the bedroom. While Takuma is sleeping nicely with snoring, she dresses up and then hops on to bed. She then smiles and snickers.

Kokoro: "Hehehehehehe... the perfect crime."

The Pink Army - End

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- A mini-series of The Pink Army is possible. Well, I can do it on request. :P

Damn.. it's like Barney Stinson's one night stands, to some extent.

And a mini series? I don't know if you have the right readers for that.. :)

Damn.. it's like Barney Stinson's one night stands, to some extent.

And a mini series? I don't know if you have the right readers for that.. :)

It could work. It just depends on how it could be implemented.

Next entry would be about Nigel and The Nurburgring, highlighting his new job. And fate allowed him to meet Shiro Chouji...

Entry 7 - The Ring Specialist

Location: Nurburgring Nordschleife
Time: 2 pm

Sayuki: "It seems that Lamborghini is really dead serious on that car, eh? Despite being a one-off..."

Nigel: "They have to please Takuma-san, and a proper send-off to Sir Ben McCarthy."

Sayuki: "So-called, "Peace Offering", eh? Kinda noble for Lamborghini."

Nigel: "Well, time to put my abilities to the test."

Sayuki: "I hope you also find happiness in that new job of yours. I'm proud of you. Imagine... you are just one of the Ring Specialists being sought out by racers from all over the world for your lectures. Oh, speaking of which, there will be a racer from Japan that will arrive here tomorrow. Your appointed lecture is at 8 in the morning."

Nigel: "Understood."

Then Giorgio Sanna, the Lamborghini Chief Test Driver, approaches the duo. It seems that the car is ready for the lap record.

Giorgio Sanna: "The car is ready. Oh, the car's power is increased to 800 horsepower, still being transferred to rear wheels only. Then aerodynamic and chassis enhancements were performed in order to harness the extra horsepower properly. I believe you can control this car, no?"

Nigel: "Thank you for the information. Don't worry, I can adjust to it."

Sayuki: "Aventador LP800-2 Signore McCarthy, huh? Hey, set a new lap record with that, okay? Just some other time, some Yankee in a black Ford GT ran here like there's no tomorrow. He even have to be rushed to the hospital due to fatigue. But 6 minutes and 58 seconds is a challenge..."

Nigel: "I'll do my best to beat it."

And with everything is set, Nigel sets off to record a lap time.

9567963290_96140cd571_c.jpg

9567963138_f88b34da67_c.jpg

Nigel: "Wheelspin detected. But the car is stable overall... The 7-speed ISR Gearbox shifts faster than the normal Aventador. Revving up to 9000 rpm... Understeer not detected on tight corners."

9567962960_e0c02722ba_c.jpg

Nigel: "90 KM/H at the Karrusell..."

9565171619_0b86a22769_c.jpg

Nigel: "Sharp cornering is what I like in this car. Though make a mistake, and it can be... harsh."

9565171437_27dd92b2fa_c.jpg

Nigel: "Top speed recorded at 341 KM/H. Presumed top speed of this car is at 360..."

9565171277_45df32c717_c.jpg

Nigel: "Lap recorded - 6 minutes and 49.3 seconds."

Sayuki: "Wow!!! As expected from Nigel... Good job."

Nigel: "Thank you very much! I'm sure Takuma-san would love knowing this news."

**********************************************************

Location: Motoring Weekly Office, Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan
Time: 4 pm, the next day

Whew.... it's just an hour to go before I go home! Takanori just arrived too, from doing several car reviews.

Takanori: "Man... what a day! I did 5 different car reviews today. But at least I won't get lost since we use the same road over and over."

Takuma: "Good for you that you get to taste the sun. I'm stuck here the whole day writing an article for the next issue."

Nobuyuki: "As for me... that Shiro guy from the convenience store is absent. They say he went to Europe or something. Well, he's a racer too."

Takuma: "I hope he gets out from that cashier job. He has a better life ahead of him, as a race car driver."

Suddenly, I get a call from Nigel. What time is it in Germany?

Nigel: "Good morning from here, Takuma-san."

Takuma: "Hey Nigel! What a surprise!"

Nigel: "Speaking of which, I do have one for you. Just check the auto blogs tonight in your time."

Takuma: "I'm excited. Hey, how's being The Ring Specialist?"

Nigel: "Oh well, I get appointments from time to time. Without those, I am still at the track providing the "Ring Joy Ride" for the tourists who want to experience the roller coaster ride of the Nurburgring with my RUF CTR Yellowbird."

Takuma: "I'm sure you can count how many tourists that have gotten sick."

Nigel: "Ahahahahahaha! Oh! Sorry to cut this short, though. I have someone to teach today. Have a great day!"

Takuma: "You too. Bye!"

**********************************************************

Location: Nurburgring Nordschleife, Germany
Time: 8 am

Sayuki and Nigel are waiting for the racer to arrive.

Sayuki: "He sure is late. He also has the manager tagging along."

Nigel: "So according to that manager, there will be a VW Lupo Cup race here next week."

Sayuki: "Nurburgring is not something that can be mastered in one sitting."

An then the people in question have finally arrived. The racer is no other than Shiro Chouji and his manager named Mikasa.

Mikasa: "Good morning, Mr. Heidelberg."

Nigel: "Good morning."

Mikasa: "And here's Toshiro Chouji. He will be the one racing at the VW Lupo cup race here next week. He needs your guidance."

Nigel: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Chouji."

Everyone then shakes hands.

Shiro: "Everyone makes a beeline at you. I wanna see why."

Nigel: "Oh you can speak fluent English! Ummm... well I have been racing here for all my life, that's why."

Mikasa: "Here's the Lupo we will use for next week's race. It's modified for the purpose."

Nigel: "Okay, shall we get started?"

Nigel and Shiro enter the car with the latter behind the wheel and they set off.

9565171077_4078da2a4d_c.jpg

Nigel: "Since you are driving a moderately powered car, you can keep your foot planted through some of the corners here in order to make up for that little amount of power."

9565170819_93c58139b7_c.jpg

Nigel: "Yes, just like that. You are grasping things quickly."

Shiro: "Thank you very much. I am so much eager to race here..."

9567961718_d01b155105_c.jpg

Nigel: "Oh... a bit of understeer here. That's just normal, but the speed in that corner is appropriate. But hey, The Lupo GTI is fun to drive, no?"

Shiro: "Indeed... I must say that you are very knowledgeable in this track. I assume you suffered no crashes at all."

Nigel: "Quite the contrary... I do sometimes go off-track and crashed here twice."

Shiro: "I see... so even a robot makes mistakes."

9567961482_110cacba3a_c.jpg

9565170257_1439fd7f71_c.jpg

Nigel: "Keep it nice and steady here in the Karrusell. Stick to the banking and speeds must be consistent ranging from 80-90 KM/H."

And then they finally return to the starting point. Nigel is impressed with Shiro's progress.

9565169979_9a00d5362f_c.jpg

Nigel: "I'm impressed with your abilities. Just some more practice and I am sure you can win that race effortlessly."

Shiro: "Thank you very much for your lectures. I will keep them in mind."

The two shake hands once again. Then they get out of the car. Shiro walks off alone, on the way to his manager.

Shiro: "So... you are the one that has my racer data, eh? You are not shabbier than I thought. But then, let us see which is better...

...MAN OR MACHINE???"

The Ring Specialist - END

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- The true horsepower rating of the Aventador is at 822 HP. I then adjusted the brake balance to 5/5, then the rear downforce is set to 20. The LSD, torque split, weight bias, and suspension settings are left untouched from the one I posted before.

- The Lupo GTI is tuned to 400pp. Fun to drive car, indeed. :)

Nice page! 👍

Just wondering, the FD is with you, right? I'm getting quite worried about it.

Gosh that car's fast.. if it was on level with a Veyron.

And we need an explanation on Nobu's return to life. It's not like someone spent 2 billion dollars to bring back the best. (Mass Effect, anyone?)

Entry 8 - Moving On

Location: Gunma, Japan
Time: 6 am

Nobuyuki is running his Viper GTS at the mountain pass as he wants to feel the newly-tuned car.

9570487746_2de816f7d3_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "It takes on corners faster, the car turns sharper. And the power is slightly increased to 500 horsepower. I still don't intend this to be a drag racer."

9570487484_4434e05692_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Whoa... it's 6 am already??? Gotta go back to Tokyo for work! I woke up so early to go here and test this thing. Hmmmm.... gotta grab coffee on the way."

I arrived in the office, early as usual. And Nobuyuki is in his cubicle already, sleeping. I turned on the lights so as to wake him up.

Nobuyuki: "Oh it's you. What time is it?"

Takuma: "Good morning. It's 7:30 already. You are so early. And nice Viper, by the way. Last time I saw it, it had no stripes."

Nobuyuki: "Oh, I just tested it at dawn. I went up to a mountain pass in Gunma and tested her out. I like the changes."

Takuma: "Can't wait for the weekend for you to do that?"

And Takanori arrives. Hmmm... you've changed, huh? You're not the slowpoke I used to know.

Takanori: "Today, I am reviewing the...

...C7 Corvette, and other American sports cars.... at... Motegi. Today's the doomsday..."

Takuma: "Well, gotta put food on the table. You've got to do it."

Takanori: "Isn't there another way??? Can you drive the Corvette instead???"

Takuma: "Sorry, I am assigned to the studio to do hosting on the show today..."

Takanori: "Once I walk out that door at 8 am with the filming crew, it's the end of the world for me... eeeeeeeek..."

Nobuyuki: "I'm sure you can get over it."

Takuma: "Here, have a cup of coffee. To soothe down that fear."

Takanori: "Thanks... I hope this works."

Hours passed, I am wishing well for Takanori, though... Suddenly, another filming crew arrived at our floor, borrowing our studio for taping of a woman's talk show usually filmed on the upper floor. The hosts, and the cameramen arrive, then upon arrival of their guest, Nobuyuki just looked away, as if avoiding her. The guest in question is named Eriko Kitagawa, an aspiring race car driver. She's the guest for that women's show today, huh?Something wrong, Nobuyuki?

Nobuyuki: "I gotta head down the cafeteria to have breakfast."

Takuma: "You don't eat breakfast. Change of pace?"

Nobuyuki: "I'm hungry. See ya later."

And so he charges to the elevator. What's wrong with him? His face suddenly changed its mood upon seeing that woman. Suddenly, I heard that woman going to the same place too! To get some coffee. I guess something's between them, I can smell it.

**********************************************************

Eriko locates Nobuyuki sitting alone at one of the tables of the cafeteria. She purchases a sachet of 3-in-1 coffee and then approaches him.

Eriko: "Who wouldn't know, that we will meet again?"

Nobuyuki: "So you're the guest for today's episode of Empowering Women, huh? Why did the crew used our studio for today?"

Eriko: "As if I know... hehehehe. The studio upstairs will be renovated, that's why. How are you, by the way?"

Nobuyuki: "Loving my job. How about you? How's your racing career?"

Eriko: "I am getting close to Formula 3 racing. Then Formula 1 will be on my grasp. I will be Japan's first female F1 racer soon..."

Nobuyuki: "Good luck."

Then he stands up and leaves her.

Eriko: "Finished already? I don't know you can eat fast."

Nobuyuki: "I have work to do, so please don't disturb me. You have taping, right? You might as well go up too."

Then the two wait for the elevator, when one of the opens up, Eriko gets in first, then Nobuyuki just stayed.

Eriko: "I thought you have work to do. Won't you come in? You know, you can save energy this way."

The man complies and just inches away from her. When they arrive at the floor, Nobuyuki lets Eriko go out first. It's just on time for the taping to start. Nobuyuki returns to the cubicle begins writing his article.

Takuma: "Something's bothering you. Care to share, buddy?"

Nobuyuki: "As if everything will change if I tell you."

Takuma: "I can tell something is between you two. The way you look at her, and you just avoided her like that."

Nobuyuki: "She's my ex, happy now?"

Takuma: "Whoa chill. I'm just asking. No need to be too aggressive. That's all I'm just asking. I am not asking anymore. Go and enjoy your work."

At lunch break, the couple once again meet at outside of the building.

Nobuyuki: "Are you following me, or are we just going the same way?"

Eriko: "What if I say both? I'm heading out now. Thank you for letting the crew use your studio."

Nobuyuki: "You're welcome."

Eriko: "What if we had lunch together first? You know, like the old times?"

Nobuyuki: "I thought you are going to forget me? Aren't you supposed to do that?"

Eriko: "Don't be so cold. We'll just eat out, as acquaintances. There's nothing wrong with that, right?"

Nobuyuki: "Fine."

The couple head to a restaurant across the street. After ordering, Nobuyuki just avoids looking at the woman as much as possible.

Eriko: "Something wrong? You've been looking all over the place."

Nobuyuki: "Ambiance is great here, that's why."

Eriko: "Don't worry, this day shall be the last day we'll have our eyes on each other. Fate just allowed it to happen."

Nobuyuki: "You could have just stayed away a while ago. That's what you want, right? Forget about me."

Eriko: "You are the one who told me that 3 years ago. I still haven't forgotten the last words you said before we walked out on each other."

Nobuyuki: "With you being the race car driver now, I'm sure you will find it easier to accomplish. Excuse me, I have work to do. I'm being pressured to finish the article today. I'm sorry to cut this lunch short."

He leaves her alone, instead he gets his order via take out and returns to work.

Eriko: "Why? Why did we have to meet again? I thought I am supposed to forget you?"

9567693635_96b93a9475_c.jpg

Eriko: "I am now a race car driver, and I am just focusing on my job... yet why did those memories suddenly came back?"

9570487208_066ae4413e_c.jpg

9570486918_c0bd9662b1_c.jpg

Eriko: "There's only one way to find out. A race... the thing we both do best. With him around, I want to see if I can get over him and move on. I want to challenge myself..."

**********************************************************

Nobuyuki and I are heading out of the office together. Man, I feel like a jerk today. I probably have to repent for my sins. He feels bad today. Suddenly, someone calls him up.

Nobuyuki: "Hello?"

Eriko: "Let's meet up in Route 5 later. Bring your Viper..."

Nobuyuki: "What for???"

Eriko: "Let's just see if I have completely moved on. You are the obstacle. I want to get over you by this race."

Nobuyuki: "Street racing, huh? You are getting mad, woman."

Eriko: "Well, I'll be waiting. Gentlemen sure know that they must not make women wait. Besides, we really need to talk."

Nobuyuki: "Okay, fine. I'll show up. What time?"

Eriko: "1 AM."

Nobuyuki: "Got it."

**********************************************************

The two meet up at the appointed time and place. Wind is blowing at a moderate amount, which made Eriko's hair flow along with it.

Eriko: "I'm glad you came."

Nobuyuki: "Let's just finish this once and for all. Win or lose, don't ever see me again."

Eriko: "Okay then. I just want to challenge myself. I want to see if I have completely forgotten you. Like a hurdle, I must jump over it."

Nobuyuki: "We tried our best to make our relationship work three years ago, but it seems we can't make it happen."

Eriko: "We start from here, and the goal is at the end of Route 7's tunnel. Our cars are built for races like these. Interesting, isn't it?"

The two get in their cars. As soon as they enter Route 5, the roaring sounds of two American sports cars shatter the silence.

9570486640_d1ffc9ebaf_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "Her car is accelerating at a faster rate. Does her car have more power?"

9567693103_63b8cfa4e8_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "And she gets away in cornering as well. She's not just a good driver, but also her car matches her skill! Corvettes are lighter than Vipers, that's why they can compensate and match the Viper in every possible way!"

9567692681_406fd237dd_c.jpg

Eriko: "You know why I started racing? It's because of you... you gave me the joys of it. When we were dating, you used to tear up the mountain passes with that Viper of yours."

9570486082_efd2357849_c.jpg

Eriko: "But then, your career... it's the sole reason why we broke apart. You are always away... you have no time for me."

9570486106_cae81a6858_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "You failed to see why am I into racing. It's my passion. I thought we could work this out. But all I hear are demands. As if I can fulfill everything! I am just one person! I cannot do two things at the same time! I can blame myself since I fail to set my priorities and my time for you. But you can't demand things on me, either!"

9570485712_605dc5c6b1_c.jpg

Eriko: "All I needed was your time.... your hug... and your kiss. But where are they? You have completely spent too much of your time in racing. After breaking up, I entered in that field so that I could understand why you enjoy it. And then I have also realized that in this way...

...I can completely forget you and move on."

9570485660_d6939392e2_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "We're entering Route 7. It's the only place I can fight back."

Eriko: "It's odd... why do I still have these feelings for you? I should have thrown those away! I am still chasing you... why??? I am at the lead now, and you are at my back! So I must have forgotten you! I don't see you in front of me now! Yet why??? Why do I still have feelings for you???"

9570485198_c024291ff8_c.jpg

9567691523_3e4b1e330e_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "I can only keep in slipstream. The Viper's taller gear ratios mean that I can gain more speed than you in that way..."

9570484854_81bf402513_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "She gets away again through the turns. You know, if you really want to move on... forget me. Step harder on the pedal, throw your feelings away. I still...

...have feelings for you, you know? I cannot deny your beauty and your sweetness. And my attitude is unforgivable. I could have done something to make our relationship last."

9570484816_cf65ca06c9_c.jpg

Eriko: "He's at my side... how??? Did he keep up using slipstream?"

Nobuyuki: "Dammit... the Viper's 6th gear is totally useless. She's getting away again."

9570484306_0b2125fa92_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "All I got to do is go behind her again and catch her draft."

9570484196_6cf985b328_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "I'll help you forget me. I have to leap forward and just move on. Don't even try catching up..."

Eriko: "No! Don't go in front of me! I want to completely forget you! You must be at my back... disappearing!"

Nobuyuki: "320 KM/H... and it's dropping again. I have to shift back to 5th."

Eriko: "No! No!!! Why does my heart beat for you again? You were the only man I need back then... Yet you are also the one that gave this pain."

9570484024_1e20bec39d_c.jpg

Then the two cars exit the tunnel, with Nobuyuki's Viper winning by a hair.

9570483584_8bc09c9b09_c.jpg

Nobuyuki: "I won. And I gotta pull over."

The two cars pull over. As Eriko comes out in tears, she slaps Nobuyuki's face.

Eriko: "Why??? I should have gotten over you!!! Why did you have to lead!? Why did you have to show up in front of me?"

Nobuyuki: "The proper way of moving on is to keep on forward... and never look back. What I did was to show you that example. Just keep moving on, don't remember things. What's past is past."

Eriko: "I.. I'm sorry..."

Nobuyuki: "No, I should be the one apologizing. I was not the one making the effort in making our relationship work. We could have just stayed as friends if that was going to happen."

Eriko: "I still love you, you know?"

Nobuyuki: "Me too... hey, since we are alone... let's have this one final kiss before we part ways again."

And the two kiss on each other's lips.

Nobuyuki: "Now go... don't you even dare remember me. Focus on what makes you happy, then that's the time you have completely moved on."

Eriko: "I will... I will."

And then she gets back on her car and leaves. She did not even make an attempt on looking at the rear view mirror.

Meanwhile, Nobuyuki just looks up at the starry sky as he leans on to his car.

Moving On - End

With the Countach LP400 and Pagani Huayra confirmed for GT6, there is a possibility that a fanfic based on the game will come out. These two will be Takuma's cars, and he'll be the only character retained.

But that's still a possibility.

Next entry would be posted later, and it's the shootout of tuned Rotary cars!

Entry 9 - Rotary Rocket

This is it... and this is a big event today! Today is the taping of the special episode of Motoring Weekly. It is all about Mazda's Rotary rockets! Though it took a month for us to narrow all the participants that will make it to the taping.

And here are these four participants, making necessary adjustments to their cars. As for me, I have to do taping! Gotta get in my trusty, and beloved RE Amemiya-tuned FD3S!

With the camera equipment installed, I'm ready to roll!

9576532802_3f09d23638_c.jpg

Takuma: "Good morning, viewers! I'm here in Tsukuba Circuit, and today is a very special segment of Motoring Weekly. This is the "Right Tune" segment! Today's Right Tune special is all about, well you know what I'm driving, Mazda's Rotary cars! They have been popular for decades, and even today, as a tuner toy."

9576532532_29887727a5_c.jpg

Takuma: "Wooohooo!!! This is so much fun! Ama-san sure knows how to turn these into rocket ships! Mazda is known all over the world as the producer of Rotary engined sports cars. And those cars have been upsetting the balance of the sports car world with unparalleled handling and immense power coming from a small engine."

9573735193_d73a497fd1_c.jpg

Takuma: "With supercar-crushing performance at an affordable price, this has been one of a tuner's favorite toys. Generally, these cars have lots of aftermarket support. This particular car is tuned by RE Amemiya, a world-renowned tuner of Rotary engined cars. Their finished products have always been sought after by enthusiasts from all over the world. So, how much is a complete tuning kit? It varies on what direction you would go for. But prepare to pay a fortune for one of those."

And then for the next clip, I have to stop the car at the start line and talk more about the RX-7. I get out and lean on my car as cameras point at me.

Takuma: "As for the car, you might wonder how much is a used FD3S RX-7. FDs can cost you as high as 1.8 million yen now, and that's the Kouki model. This one I own, however, is a Zenki model, one of the earlier models. And you need to have an expert or an FD3S owner with you when buying one of those. You can't just buy it in an instant even if the price is very tempting. BE VERY CAREFUL!

Now, I shall set a benchmark lap time for this one. Let us see if these top 4 participants can beat this. And the fastest one will receive a surprise!"

I changed the car's tires. And here comes the flying lap!

9573735043_024e935ac7_c.jpg

9576531848_af65692191_c.jpg

Takuma: "This is something missing from the current sports cars, this world-class handling thanks to the ideal 50:50 weight distribution!"

9576531612_045a15dc48_c.jpg

Takuma: "Very nice on the hairpin. I have to be careful on the accelerator as well."

9576531394_00baf54090_c.jpg

Takuma: "This turbo kit that Ama-san installed provides excellent compromise between mid-to-high range boost, perfect for circuit racing."

9576531146_17fa33f08d_c.jpg
\

Takuma: "Last corner, keep it steady... and the lap time is...

56.8 seconds on Sports tires. Very brilliant! Now, can these 4 challengers beat this benchmark?"

And the next clip switches to the 4 challengers standing in front of their respective cars.

Takuma: "Now, last month, we opened an audition at the main website for the Rotary Rocket challenge. A lot of applicants came in, and with careful judging and consideration to the drivability of the cars, we narrowed down to these 4 contestants. Don't expect to see a hyper-powered car here, as our segment's emphasis is that a car must still be drivable while the power and handling were improved. So, I am seeing here an FC, two FDs, and oh, an RX-8 made the cut! Interesting! What's more interesting here is that these cars are tuned by themselves! Except for that blue FD over there, there's Yumekobo-san there, to show his demo FD3S to us.

Without further adieu, let's start with the timed laps. With the FC. His name is Hiroshi Motoyama and he's a doctor by profession."

Hiroshi: "Greetings, everyone. This is my entry, an FC3S RX-7 GT-X which I use as a daily drive. My aim is to smash the 1 minute barrier."

Takuma: "Which is also perfect, I think, when there is an emergency."

Hiroshi: "Indeed. With focus on balance, this FC has 410 horsepower. Then a 6-speed transmission is also installed. I hope this car performs at its best."

Takuma: "Interesting... Now, I shall set a lap time with this. Let's go?"

9576530984_83e73f6339_c.jpg

Takuma: "FCs are interesting. When you can't find a decent FD, then here's an alternative. It has as much aftermarket support as the FD does, you know? Engine swaps are not unheard of as well. However, this car still has the 13B turbo intercooler engine from the factory."

9573733597_fac0055939_c.jpg

9573733293_7f1ef2bc18_c.jpg

Takuma: "Bit of understeer here. But, this is drivable for everyday use. I get boost on demand. Rotaries suffer from the lack of torque from the lower RPM ranges. But this aftermarket turbo installed cures it. Brilliant bit of kit. The gear ratios suit the track as well."

9576530246_83e2810b40_c.jpg

9576529992_43be88ac4e_c.jpg

Takuma: "Lap time recorded? 1 minute and .4 of a second. Hmmmm..."

I meet up with Hiroshi again, and I think he's satisfied...

Takuma: "You could do with better aero, actually. It's helpful if you wish to smash the 1 minute barrier. You need to shave off .4 of a second which is a challenge in Tsukuba."

Hiroshi: "Thank you very much for testing the car. Don't worry, I will work on those criticisms. I am very honored to meet you as well."

Takuma: "Thank you very much for the time, Hiroshi-san. We'll move on to the next, that white RX-8 over there, owned by Takashi Tetsuda, a freelance writer."

Takashi: "Very nice and honored to meet you. This is my RX-8, which has a mechanically-tuned RENESIS motor. No turbos whatsoever. Final gear ratio is also shortened to 4.700. Horsepower rating is at 350 or thereabouts."

Takuma: "Interesting. Mechanically-tuned? And yet you can drive it everyday? Let's see if this can beat the FC."

9576529792_80dbf306bf_c.jpg

Takuma: "RX-8s are ridiculed for having lack of aftermarket support. Not only that, it's the lack of pizzazz you get from the FD."

9576529646_d77da29272_c.jpg

9576529488_959993a55b_c.jpg

Takuma: "However, handling-wise, this is better than the FD. I don't get snap oversteer. I can floor it all the way. The acceleration is improved as well, knowing that it revs up to 10,000 RPM and the lowering of final gear ratio contributes to that. However, you can't get over the fact that it struggles to exit corners which is a typical trait of a Rotary engine car. You need turbo power in order to conquer Tsukuba. But I guess Takashi wants to be set apart from the rest of the tuned RX-8s."

9576529356_684de54339_c.jpg

Takuma: "The time? 1 minute and .6 second. Ooooh, so close to the FC!"

I returned to the pit lane and tell my feedback to the RX-8's owner.

Takuma: "Takashi-kun, I did my best out there. I'm sorry. The only criticism I have is that the engine revs too high for Tsukuba. You need sufficient low-end torque to get out of corners fast here and as well as to improve drivability. The handling, however, is lovely. I got to say that it's better than the FC's and is more secure than the FD. I can drive this to have fun at the track, but not really a lap record smasher.

Takashi: "Thank you for the feedback. I am also happy that I made it here, and meet you as well."

Takuma: "Nice to meet you as well. So far, none has been able to beat my RE Amemiya FD. But let's move on, shall we? Yumekobo FD3S!"

Yumekobo: "Good morning, Takuma-san. This is a demo car. The power is increased via only an increased boost pressure. Suspension is also taken into consideration as well."

Takuma: "Very simple tuning method. Fits very well for the drivability theme this show promotes. Without further adieu, let's set a lap."

9573731999_610c6270a0_c.jpg

Takuma: "With drivability in mind, a stock turbo is perfect. After all, manufacturers have to make their sports cars livable for daily driving. Increasing boost pressure is best when it comes to increasing power. But it must be done carefully though, or you'll end up breaking the turbo."

9573731817_ec566db1ac_c.jpg

Takuma: "Despite the smooth suspension, cornering is brilliant. It's stable and power comes whenever I need it."

9573731605_89ebc2c5db_c.jpg

9576528634_ddbc442f8b_c.jpg

Takuma: "I have set a lap time of 1 minute and .3 seconds. Hmmmm... it's okay, but smashing the barrier is more than possible for this one. I would actually recommend this tuning method. Let's move on to the next one."

And the last one, another FD. But owned by a woman. And nice yellow color, by the way.

Takuma: "This is Ayumi Tanaka, a university student leading a car racing group within the university. Interesting, such club exists."

Ayumi: "I'm honored to meet you, Takuma-san. Actually, this is a dream, to meet the Rotary Meister. This FD is tuned for both Suzuka and the Touge as well."

Takuma: "Oh you race in the touge? Kinda dangerous, if you ask me."

Ayumi: "Indeed it is. But I just want to let off steam."

Takuma: "I see. Now let us see if the final entrant will be the fastest. Let's find out."

9573731291_48668ffcf6_c.jpg

Takuma: "Woah! Sudden burst. You see, this is the challenge of driving the FD."

9573731035_15ffab8e84_c.jpg

Takuma: "Gotta be patient with the right foot. And the car is somehow neutral, with slight understeer. This, I think, won't do in the touge well. You need a sharper response for the Touge. Although this setup is more for track use."

9573730849_9753b36faa_c.jpg

Takuma: "However, the car's exit speed and acceleration is perfect for Tsukuba. I also get this response from my FD.

Lap time? Wow! An amazing 58.5 seconds! If this car has proper aero, then it has the potential to beat my FD."

I returned the car to Ayumi.

Takuma: "You will clearly have a surprise from me. And this FD is perfectly suited for track use, but not in the touge. If you want this to run in the Touge well, you need better brakes, and a slightly softer suspension since Touge has uneven road surfaces."

Ayumi: "I will keep them in mind, sir."

Takuma: "See that Mazda trailer over there? What's inside there, will be the surprise. You will ride with me in that."

And to her delight, the crew pull out the Mazda 787B out from the truck. Then the crew sets them up. The woman could not hide her astonishment.

Takuma: "Folks, this is the Mazda 787B, the one that brought pride to Japan twice in its career. 1991 and this year, when Dream Alliance won the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Excited?"

Ayumi: "I'm getting goosebumps already."

Takuma: "This car is powered by not 2, not 3, but 4 rotors! And just listen to it!"

The 787B starts up. Man, that sound is just lovely... No race car can have that epic sound today.

Ayumi: "It's deafening!"

Takuma: "Indeed. So, let's get in. Ladies first."

For the purpose, the 787B has a passenger racing bucket seat with a 5 point harness. Ayumi is getting a bit nervous there. I, meanwhile, suit up and put on my helmet for the run. Everything set? Okay, let's go!

9573730669_c1acbf08c4_c.jpg

Ayumi: "Oh my god!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!"

9576527620_8036f4e19f_c.jpg

Takuma: "You'd never a think a Rotary would be able to achieve this speed, eh?"

9573730133_e96878c27e_c.jpg

Ayumi: "Woooooooooo!!!"

Takuma: "You have bragging rights to your university friends about this experience."

Ayumi: "This blows my mind!"

I set a lap time of 48.1 seconds. And after another lap, we decided to return to the pit lane. Ayumi is having a great time of her life, getting to experience the sheer speed of a Group C Rotary-powered monster that showed the world that Japan is a country that must not be overlooked when it comes to racing.

The session ended with everyone in happy faces. Several photo-ops are done and we also had a lunch together. There's also a hearty discussion about their cars and their experiences. I'm really happy to know that these people are dedicated to speed despite their everyday chores.

And I am also happy, that I get this much support... I think I have finally turned on to a new leaf.

What a very nice day. I won't forget this...

Rotary Rocket - End

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- The Right Tune = Best Motoring Hot Version. :P
- Ama-san - The nickname of Isami Amemiya, the founder of RE Amemiya
- The 4 cars and the RE Amemiya FD ran in Sports Soft tires.
- And I originally planned for something like this to happen:

I'm glad to see my FD doing nicely! :dopey:

I'm also glad the suspension's doing great. I spend the past weeks trying to perfect it.

I actually managed a 59.8xx with it at Tsukuba before. I guess that's because I'm way too accustomed to it already. I'll definitely be using it again in GT6.

Oh, and great page, as usual! Looking forward to the next! 👍
