In 1994 and 1995, around early March, they ran two historic car events at Albert Park in Melbourne, prior to the GP being held there.

The '94 event was the best - they set a 100 mph speed limit, which was broken pretty much by the first car that hit the track.

My favourite moment was sitting next to a wire fence whilst a Formula 5000 went past flat in fourth (we were counting gears) no more than 4 feet from my head - talk about a rush!

Amongst other amazing things that day, I saw the wonderful sight of an XJ220 play racing with an XJR15 - a vision that I will remember for as long as I'm into cars.
