Drift

Ok, i didn't know about the testical thing that is just wrong. Yes, i know u can drift by just setting to drift *in GT3*, but im not using GT3. I prefer the lack of graphics, physics, and round objects in GT2. Please do not put down my skillz silvia drifter c'mon it was my first vid. I'll get better.

Silvia im lovin that vid! finally a gt2 drift vid!:D:D :D What program did you use for the editing? I am a pretty good gt2 drifter and i need to make a vid myself. Me and my brother twin drift around Rome Night in our blue sileighties and it looks dmn good! We can link almost all sections on that track and i can link the entire motorsports land track!:D I really think it was made for drifting unlike popular oppinoin.........:odd: if you look at the layout it is perfect. it is set up just like the SEMA drift ex. track. A 240sx fastback with racing mod and med. tires on front and hards on the rear and drift away! well i gotta go school is about over with for the day:D outie!

WOOT WOOT!

First off, thankyou....... I'm glad you enjoyed the vid.....

Yes that track was made for drifting, and was put in GT for drifting, just like a certain type of tire............

I have only been drifting in GT2 for 2 weeks total, so I'm not as good, as I could be. However, I think I did quite well, for a GT3 drifter......... Although, I must say I'm dissapointed to hear that you mix tires.....shame on you.... you can do the same thing with tuning, there is never any reason to mix tires....

I used Windows Movie Maker for the editing......

Are you planning on puting together a GT2 drift vid? I would love to see someone who knows how to drift well in GT2...........

;)

Some cars i will mix tires B/C you need to to get the car turning. And yes my brother and I are planning on a GT2 vid. we need a capture card for our comp. though so that i can do some editing. I think you will be impressed when it is done. It might not be as good of quality as yours but the drifting will be insane:) :D :)

WOOT WOOT!!!! WOOT WOOT

since noone's found it in my other thread I guess i'll put it here.
ox!'s "keepin it sideways"

http://www.geocities.com/oxigen13b/

got there and play "gt.avi"
it's my GT2 drift video. It's really short but i like it.
right at the start theres quality proof that 4wd cars car drift in to form of a very sideways GTR. followed by a demonstration of a very long drift with an S15 silvia. anything's possible, some things are just harder than others
i could have sworn we covered this. too, 4wd cars can drift just fine.

Yes AWD cars drift just fine...........

BTW, in the future, just right click on your video, and copy shortcut, so people can just right click on your vid (here in GTP) without having to go to a different site.......

The vid was ok, the drifts weren't anything spectacular. Also, you can get that R34 sideways without all that countersteer. Furthermore, there wasn't any long drifts in there, so I'm not sure what long S15 drift your talking about. Anyway, drifting in GT2 is much harder than GT3 (due to the inferior physics), so I won't be too hard on you. You showed good control overall, and that's the most important thing anyway..........

;)

GT2 isn't all that hard to drift in due to the physics, but it's holding on to drifts in GT2 that's hard.

AWD cars can drift but... It's not really drifting because the car has total control over the "slide". I say if it's MR or FR it's fine to drift with, the only exception is the Suzuki Cappucino. The poor car gets around 100hp and it must be tossed around like a rag doll.

Silvia you should release some more GT2 videos, ur skillz are phenomenal.
ooo... I'm using big words.

Images aren't allowed - and so won't appear - in signatures. Notice how no-one else has one...

I might release another GT2 vid in the future, but right now, I have 3 GT3 drifting projects I'm working on, so it won't be for a while............

you can't like directly to geocities unfortunately. I know it's a pain, ut it's the only way i can host it.

fair enough claim. I did put the whole thing together in about an hour though. really the best shots are the Gr, the S13 silvia at motorsports land, the black S15 near the start and the RX7 at midfield (although the camera angles don't do it justice)

frankly, and not entirely angry here, but what the hell are you talking about? of course you can get a car sideways in GT2 without coutersteering. My vid was about actually drifting, fully sideways before the corner, balanced between full throttle and full countersteer. yes you can get a car sideways without coutersteer, but there's much less skill in it. The RX7 on super speedway shot is an example of what i'd call lame ass no coutersteer not very sideways no balance involved drift. I left it in there as padding but it proves my point. no to slam you too hard, and I'm sure given each of us a chance we'd both make much better clips, but a lot of your video had cars with no opposite lock on at all. I wouldn't call that drift. I'm not sure if you actually have either, but my first car was a series one RX7 (hence my use of the RX in my clip.) I can actually drift real cars. I'm not just a computergame hero. as a matter of fact, you say drifting in GT2 is hard. too true, it's easier in real life.

right at the start you see a black S15 silvia hold full lock very sideways through a turn.yeah, it aint that long, true, but you go and try to acheive that in GT2. it's VERY BLOODY HARD.

thanks for the comments man. no flameage intended, just voicing my opinions as you were. If we can both learn something from this it'll be worthwhile.

Drifting AWD without countersteer takes more skill not less, but I can see that you didn't really understand what I was getting at, when you started talking about no countersteer with your RX7. I am talking only about AWD, not FR or MR. You need countersteer with FR and MR, but with AWD you use the throttle and the brakes to control the angle, and you can get very big angles using this technique. Furthermore, my vid was made with a total of two weeks GT2 drift experience, that's all I have ever drifted in GT2 (all the clips were drifted and captured within 3 days). Also, my vid was more about linking, and smoothness, than long drifts....... I think if you would have put more time into the editing, the video would have been better also...... If you have any other clips, I would love to see them, as I can respect what a pain it can be to drift in GT2.......

Also, I used to own a 91' 240SX Coupe, so yes I have drifted real cars (currently searching for a new coupe)........

Challenge? You seam to be missing the point.........

Did you understand my explanation of no countersteer AWD drift?

;)

I don't understand your description of no countersteer 4wd drift. as far as I'm concerned, It's not even possible. if you brake, you spin. if you floor i, you spin. there must be steering input to negotiate a complete turn.

Ok, I'll upload some teaser clips, that will better explain the AWD no countersteer technique.........

Here ya go:

400R - Seattle II

Evo VI TME - Deep Forest

Download it soon, because they are only going to be up for a few days...........

dude, you've gotta use a different compression format, my computer can hardly play any of your clips, but from what I've seen. You're using GT3! :P. at least it show the tchnique.
you still had to countersteer in both of those to catch the slides at the end too :P nice clips none the less. I'd be proud to drift with you one day.

The technique is the same in GT3 or GT2..... Also, you need to turn the wheels at the end of the drift, to bring the car out of the drift. You don't need countersteer durring the drift. That is the most efficient, and controled way to drift an AWD....

About the compression........ These clips are just barely compressed. I always capture the clips at a high quality, and then when I'm done with the vid, I compress it as a whole......... However, there shouldn't be any reason they are not playing well on your computer (unless you have memory issues).......

I did try it again with the GTR and I was half right, It IS impossible to do it with it. evo works way better.

lol, no it's not impossible, the car just needs to be setup properly, and you need to use good AWD technique......... However, I do enjoy drifting the Evo VI quite a bit more than the R34.......

Man i love that first one Is there a way you can make me an avatar of the nismo 400r in the video when it was drifting in the begging?

If you can find someone to make it for you, you are more than welcome to use that clip............

;)
