Props to JJ72 and Ali. đź‘Ť You guys are fast as hell. I finished in 25th in my region in the GT Academy and thought I would be at least even with the fastest times but you guys are a notch above me.
Thank you, I'm surprised I'm at the top so far as I'm not not that good with a pad plus I rarely play this game and drive without ABS and with clutch.
Thanks man, appreciate it. Although not required guys having all the info already formatted is a nice time saver for me. I know my legend can kinda be redundant though so... lol. But thanks saidur_ali. That helps with the pre-formatting.
No problem, will do the same for the next one.
Here is what I got so far.
Wheel with clutch and H-shifter no assists

I know I can knock off another full second maybe even 2 but it's 1am and i'm pretty tired. I may give it another go tomorrow.

I'm sure Ali and JJ72 will probably be under 2 minutes.

Biggest thing I noticed with this car is that you really sense the weight transfer shift from side to side when there is back to back alternating corners (left, right or right, left) if you don't hit the first corner as smooth as possible.

Under 2 minutes on a track I never driven on, well I will give it a go but I think it will be hard to make up that much time on a short track but we will see. Will try it later tonight.

Ran about 4 laps on my lunch break and got you by a hair t.o. :P

There is still at least a full second or 2 to gain.

Damn, staying on top didn't last long for me. LOL.
You're right, there definitely is more time to be had out there. Just have to squeeze it. I'll try to get as clean a lap as I can later

OP updated.

I had a quick run after the Champions League games and highlights finished. I don't know yet the ideal lines but I think it will be really hard to do a sub 2 minute time for me. I think I would have managed it if I used a wheel as I'm not as good on a pad and this track seems to suit a wheel more due to the nature of the corners.

Anyway time was in your new format t.o., saidur_ali . . . . .02:01.545 .

I think I could do a time under 02:01 but that is as far as I can go personally before reaching levels of insanity :sly:.

With the car you have to be careful not to get too early / too much on the power as otherwise you slide and lose too much time. Wait until you get good traction before going full throttle in some of the tighter corners. Fun learning a new track for me.

Good run as usual Ali. That will give me something to shoot for either later tonight or in the morning after I update the car list thread.

Thanks. You guys are doing great too on this one. Probably will get beat due to it being a shorter track but still hope my current time is enough to keep top spot.

Man you ripped it up ali. Man. I might be able to hit that time but I'd have to concentrate like hell to do it.

I thought I had a hot lap but turned out to only shave a few 100's of a second. I can feel it just can't get it. Gotta figure it out.

Just ran some laps. I don't know how much more I can get. Maybe somewhere between .2-.5 I have no idea how Ali does it.

Man I feel you on this. For me it's going to take throttle control that I just don't have and a whole lotta luck to go under 2:03

OP Updated.

Ummmm close enough, had quicker laps but screwed up the last chicane and got an invalidation. Anything lower then 1:01 is a real stretch, unless you get REALLY lucky cutting some curbs, can't see it happening with a cleanish lap.

and a Video this time! (shot with phone sorry for quality)

I just try and keep it on the edge of traction and workout how fast some corners can be taken before trying to do a fast lap. I won a premium account doing hot laps in F1 2010 though so I'm not the slowest person. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=208364

I know how you feel though as I feel the same regarding some of the super fast F1 2010 players and also players in GT5. You can do the Mercedes Seasonal Event in GT5 to see if you are as fast or faster than me in another game if you want.

If you minimise steering input it should also help you go faster as you should find you have more grip by driving this way.

I think only the best Forza players probably could do a sub 2 minute time or probably even a little bit lower than 1:59 as top players in most racing games are alien quick. Well done on your time.

By the way fixed the image link in quotation (host changes the direct link so better to link directly) and your time on YouTube and also in part of your post should have 2 instead of 1 in front of time.

Sounds about right, 0.8 to 1 second off alien pace over a minute lap is about what I usually find myself at.
I currently find myself just over 7 tenths off alien pace in the Mercedes Seasonal event, I know I can cut that down by another 3 tenths but that is far as I can go probably.

This is a rare shot when alien quick drivers are only slightly faster than me but that will change by a lot soon.

The difference is mainly how early you can get on the throttle and how little you have to adjust your throttle position afterwards, and then it's just tidying up the lines here and there. The even faster drivers can out drive the normal limit of the car, gain a few tenths on entry and rotation but it isn't something I can consistently do lol.

One thing I noticed in JJ's video is, he is taking that first corner in 3rd. I have been going down to 2nd to get the car to turn then going back up to 3rd. I might have to try staying in third to see how much I can gain there. Also was that grinding gears that I heard? You could probably gain another couple tenths with smoother shifts alone. Are those corners at the 1:20 (the 2 right handers) being taken in 4th?

Hey Total,
My Firebird Nurburgring time last night was 9:17.517
Standing Start, clutch used, no assists, cockpit view. Edit: wheel used

Given some time I think I can knock quite a lot off of that.
That car is a handful but it's fun!

I forgot to record the times in the other races. :(

^ good lap for a standing start. đź‘Ť

Here is my latest. I know I can still knock off another few tenths but it's going to take an incredible lap. I'm pretty satisfied with this lap. I think I closed the gap between me and JJ and Ali compared to the last 2 combos.

Thanks man. I hadn't ever driven that Camaro before and 5 of us just jumped into them, added some AI and did a one lap race. That's all I was able to get out of it in those conditions.

T.O. Is in the same car club as me so we ran a few of these cars last night. I think my best in the BMW was a 2:04 something but I ran off the track on the last corner and completely killed my good time I was working on.
These are fun challenges. I can't wait to do more!

Yeah that was a lot of fun last night actually racing theses rides in the challenges. I saved that BMW replay because you guys sound like you were having alot of fun back there and I was able to see it. Makes me ALMOST wish I was back there in the mix ;) lol

I think those Caddies will be the next challenge ride. Talk about some fading brakes. lol. Thats all I kept hearing last night "STOP STOP BRAKES BRAKES".

Wish you guys had the Nurb GP track. That would be perfect for this challenge. I think I might do a split challenge. Do times on two tracks. Those with Nurb GP track can run both.

Good pick on the Nurburgring GP track. That'll be a good one.

I was just trying out -10% grip handicap on a private room and it feels good, it feels....real! And cars feel more powerful and lively, the handling traits are more evident too. I am interested in doing a test with that grip value, if it isn't too complicated.,

t.o. if you choose a car that is also in GT5, I could run the Nurburgring GP track on there and see how it compares to Forza times stock as well as do a time on Forza 3 on the tracks that come with the game.

Well done zr1chris for improving your time.

Thanks Ali. I'd also like to get into that test with the GP track you just mentioned. Just need to pick a premium car from GT5 that's also in FM3. đź’ˇ Stock ZR1?? Only problem with GT is that the cars break in and gain power. What about arcade mode?

I was doing some testing like that on the Nurburgring with the Dodge Challanger RT. It was interesting to say the least.
