I do think that may stop people posting on this thread..I find a good size preview saves clicking the full size all the time. Do we have to resize each photo and link to flickr/photobucket or post a small thumbnail?
@Terronium-12 Is there a way to reduce the GTP preview full image if you upload a 'full image' down to 800 so 'all' previews on here are just a little smaller? 👍
Seems we're doing more talking now than posting pics after the 800px restriction . While I totally understand what @Terronium-12 is trying to accomplish, it will eventually result in less pictures being posted, effectively diminishing the active thread this has been . The high activity this thread sees is what has brought even Evolution Studios themselves here... Just saying.
What has resizing photos have to do with thread activity, honestly it would take 10 seconds of effort and it would make a big difference to those like me with bad internet connection.
It's been brought up before but I'm going to make it official: as of this post all images posted in this thread are limited to a maximum width of 800px.
Why? There are members here that no doubt post in this thread with less than stellar internet speeds, and would prefer to participate and not wait for a myriad images in varying sizes to load to do so. I have internet speeds many can't obtain for any number of reasons and even I find the wait and the page-hopping a little jarring and off-putting at times.
I really don't want to delete any posts in this thread, which is why all pictures posted before now will remain unaffected.
What does the added task of resizing photos have to do with the thread's activity you say? Well just take a look at the multitude of pics posted after the 800px announcement . I might be jumping the gun here, but this thread is already a shadow of what it used to be on a normal day.
I think what @X3remes is saying is that the resizing could also be done via the forum software, so that all images will in future conform to the new image size preferences. I mean, I was happy with the fluid ease with which I could post a number of pictures here. I know there is the thumbnail option, but that just doesn't feel the same.
Whilst use of Flickr and such might offer a solution for some, I do not like hosting sites for various reasons. Could the HTML not be amended for GTP?
Have you considered limiting the amount of pics per post instead? E.g. 3-5.
This would minimize the total amount of pics per page and increase their quality too.
Or maybe restrict them to THUMBNAILS only? What do you think?
Alternatively, ONLY ONE pic full-size + thumbnailed others?
One full-sized image would act as a preview of your post, and if a viewer is interested he'd click through the thumbnails. A great option and UI friendly, in my opinion.
There're 30 posts per page, hence there would be only 30 full-sized pics to load, instead of a hundred.
Also, this'd be more efficient than loading a hundred 800px images too.
Regarding Flickr, it's a convenient way to store your images, but it also redirects, which isn't likeable at all, imo.
Thanks
As far as I'm aware both the GT and Forza threads aren't constricted like this - but I've hardly posted that much up on the GT6 threads since DC came out. GTP resizes to 810pixels width, which is kind of why I am questioning this....isn't that what we do in the GT and Forza photo threads?
I think Gtplanet resizes the photos to make it clickable but you still need to download the full version so it does not work, also imgur is free if you don't want to create an account.
I know it's a bit more effort but isn't that worth it so we all could enjoy the photos?

I appreciate that it is just a bit more effort in some ways. For me though, I rely on the convenience presented to us back when the forum got upgraded about a year or so ago, mostly because I have an old laptop which tends to have problems with more modern forms of flash and other software which the image hosting websites tend to use.
I had to laugh at the OP's insistence that a 800 pixel wide image is better than a 810 pixels wide. I was aware of member requests, but I was really referring to an official GTP stance on those threads also.https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/take-notice-stop-posting-huge-photos.323249/
Here is a thread from the GT6 photomode section.

GTplanet does resize but like I said we still download the full image if I'm not mistaken.
