Question : now that I got the Platinum trophy in Need For Speed, i wanted to get back to DriveClub to win all the new challenges.
I was expecting an update to process to have this new "light effect" unable but I have nothing. It says my game is up to date.

My game runs the 1.24 version. Is that the last one ? I'm confused.

The visual upgrades are happening bit-by-bit. They have already turned on a texture upgrade for the cobbles on Nakasendo with more update to follow.

Question guys. I started playing DriveClub last week, I'm at ~400 stars atm. If anyone has a spot in a club I might get some points, as I'm aiming to get all stars in tours + later in bikes. ;)
There aren't any club specific stars, only cars.

What about a physics update? Will that ever happen? what about the ability to turn off the terrible traction control?

I downloaded the digital version of driveclub and its the biggest mistake I have ever made. Good lord the handling is dreadful. The cars have NO physics at all. No weight to them. No tire model...nothing!

Coming from Forza horizon 2 to this was a huge mistake. Driveclub should of been a sim but with assist you can turn on to please the more casual players, just like forza does. Instead Evolution had developed the most bizarre and boring handle that tries to please everyone but ends up pleasing people that have no ****ing clue how a car really handles. The game has no soul, no thrill, nothing. Its all flash but no susbtance. All Evolution does is make the game prettier. Whats the point in amazing graphics when the actual gameplay is terrible?

I am sorry to sound like a condescending asshole to everyone but it just baffles me how any car enthusiast can enjoy playing driveclub. At least Forza Horizon 2 has physics and a tyre model closely resembling that of a real car. Driveclub handling is something closer to ridge racer. Terrible terrible stuff.

take a ferrari 458 around any track in driveclub and it feels like its on rails. All cars behave almost exactly the same aside from the atom. You either grip like on rails or lose traction slightly. Its like you are turning on a switch. That is as deep as the physics engine goes.

Its so baffling to me. They game has the aesthetics of a sim, hell they are adding tire deformation in ( so stupid) yet it plays like ridge racer. Its the most bizarre racing game ever made.

needed to get that off my chest. Sorry.

You aren't going to get any regular posters on this DriveClub forum to agree with that attitude. Most of us here love the game, many of us to the point of it being among our favourite racing games ever.

DriveClub isn't meant to be a sim (and I've played numerous sims on primarily PC over the last 15 years with assorted Logitech wheels - I enjoy a large variety of racing games, spanning from iRacing to Burnout). It's meant to be something closer to for instance Project Gotham Racing - not a pure arcade racer, but rather somewhat resembling sim behaviour in terms of the broader handling aspects (you can't just floor it and slide around corners like in many pure arcade racers - and it's not even remotely like the Ridge Racer comparison you used - and cars also have often very different and characteristic behaviour), but with strongly increased traction and brakes.

I won't necessarily say that having certain driving aids that could be turned on or off would be a bad thing, but I suspect that's very unlikely to happen given the design and aim of the game.

As someone who hasn't played Driveclub at all, is the handling comparable to any other game? Anything Evolution have made beforehand maybe?

I've always considered the best approximation in terms of handling to be the PGR games. But I admittedly haven't played one of those since PGR 4 around eight years or so ago, so it's not impossible at all that my memory is failing me a bit in that comparison.

Basically DriveClub is what's often referred to as a "semi-sim" or "simcade". Car behaviour tends towards some aspects of realism in terms of engine power, weight distribution, suspension, needing to brake properly for corners (unlike many pure arcade racers). But the cars have been given unrealistic levels of traction and brakes so average speed can be kept higher.

You could also put many of the Codemasters games in this category - Grid Autosport, Dirt 3 (yes, that's a rally game but the basic comparison in terms of handling is still viable) and the others in those series.

For me DriveClub is just one of the games that has nailed this sim/arcade balance best in the last many years.

Evolution's past Motorstorm games were what I would consider pure arcade racers (which I also frequently enjoy) and not comparable to DriveClub in the handling department.

I agree with all you have said.
I would also liken this to the Grid/Dirt games by Codemasters too but more towards sim than GAS which suffers from the centre pivot steering imo which DC doesn't.

I never understood the criticism about DC's physics. I had no issues whatsoever picking it up and it clicked almost immediately for me. Personally, I think it's one of the better arcade/simcade driving models out there with enough differences in car behaviour to make it fun and interesting.

I'm back on DC after 10 days on Need For Speed. Sadly, I got use to NFS and now I'm driving like I'm drunk on DC :).

There is something I don't understand. I like DriveClub because it's one of the rare racing game that sometimes gave me hard times to win a race. Nevertheless, I'm playing the All Star serie right now and I'm winning everything with an incredible ease. I can't remember a race where I beated the AI with 9-10 seconds advance on this game, running the same car. On top of that as I said, I'm not playing at my true level right now because I'm still dealing with NFS physics.

Is it just me or the level of the game has been reduced ? I know there were a lot of complaints about the game being "too difficult". I hope they didn't decide to make it too easy.

[EDIT]
Race with the McLaren F1 GTR or the Ferrari Enzo : they ask 2:10:00 to beat the lap, I made 1:58:00 with a lot of room to improve.
Hot Lap with the Renault R.S.01 : they ask 1:38,500 for gold, I managed 1:35,849 getting 1 shortcut penalty + 2 times hitting the fence making me loosing A LOT of time.

There is something wrong.

All Stars is way too easy, I don't think they've changed the difficulty level across the game, they've just made those events easy. Maybe they are gauging reactions before introducing more global adjustments? I don't know.
With the name All Stars I did expect much more of a challenge but then maybe 'all stars' refers to how easy it is to get all stars. ;)

I would think the TV would have to be a HD one since the PS4 only has HDMI out. I have been occupied with fallout for the last few weeks and I haven't touched DC at all. Its a good thing I think as having a break stops it getting repetitive and then in a few weeks just cause 3 will be eating my time up lol.
True, but some of the older HD TVs have difficulty with the PS4 apparently - that's more what I was suggesting.

Rushy has said that the All Stars was made easy on purpose, because it only serves as an introduction to the new cars.

Edit
Rushy
The All Stars Tour is intentionally easy, its more of a trial for players to check out some of the season pass cars.

As expected Neo GAF act infinite times more immature with their reaction though instead of just ignoring the nonsense. :P

Hello, I would just like to ask, so are we actually getting another year of dlc?
No one has said - well, maybe that isn't true anymore as I haven't been on the FB page for some weeks - that's where this sort of info gets announced (and on Twitter.) Up until a month ago though, no one had said if there would be a second season pass.

We know that EVO is working on new cars and tracks but I have no clue if it there will be:

* A second season pass
* An additional add-on (like Bikes)

They haven't communicated about any of this until now. Just need to wait and see ;)

I would love to see some city based tracks for the sake of variety. Still remains one of my complaints and wishes since I got DC.

I expect new tracks to be part of a new season pass, so that will also not arrive until next year.

A new season pass, this is awesome. I'll be right at the front of the line to get mine when it's released!
I love how this game is constantly evolving rather than being finished with and replaced with a sequel.
The name of the studio is so apt in relation to DC

I think I am alone on this but I'd love another Motorstorm car or two. If only so the Wombat Typhoon has something to race against.

You're not alone, I'd absolutely love that! 👍
I'd also like to see some SUV's in the game for something a bit different to drive.

With the Wombat being in the bonus category (all alone), I think it's reasonable to hope that more of the Motorstorm vehicles will make it across the divide to keep it company.
