So, what Driving Aids do you use? :)
A bit of ABS or TC?

Are you still using the Driving Line?
Or are you a 'Hardcore' racer who uses nothing at all? :)

I personally use:

TC: 1 (Trying to use this less and less)
SRF: On (Willing to try and turn off)
ABS: 1 (Not quite there yet :P)
Driving Line: Off (Off after 1st race. :D)
ASM: Off (Off once I actually realised what it does )

All aids off apart from ABS on 1, I like the car to feel as real as possible for online racing :)

In GT1, I used the driving line while I was learning all of the circuits.

Since then and from GT2 onwards, I stayed with just ABS on it's lowest setting and learnt the newer tracks through the license tests (so no driving line).

For a while now, I have been going with no ABS, and it really brings a lot more life and realism to the game. I'll either run ABS 1 or 0 in an online room depending on the general skill level in the room.

Only 1 ABS unless I'm in an X1 or F1 then I use some TCS and more ABS..

I use any and all aids at varying levels, I`m just a gamer, not Mario Andretti.
I also use whatever aids are avail. in real driving, this is 2013, not 1958.
How many of you "Hardcore drivers" still have drum front brakes on your daily driver?

None. :)

@OP: I'd definitely recommend turning off SRF, with it on you're masking the real characteristics of the car.

Only ABS1, some cars I turn the ABS off too, but usually I'm not in the mood for that as it can seriously change or screw up the braking characteristics of a car. As for TC I don't use it but It can be helpful for cars that have too much wheelspin.

If I remember in the special events there is the event at Eiger Norwand in an Alfa Romeo for part of the road rally tour thing, (first event). Turning on TC1 in that event can make it considerbly easier to get a gold. As it's one of the events many people have most trouble with, I thought that may be useful.

Otherwise though, just ABS-1 for me, the stability type aids really slow the car down so I wouldn't advise them. SFR : This one can make cars faster, and can make the game easier to play, but it really ruins the driving experience in the car, it is basically the worst aid of all for spoiling the handling characteristics and driving on the edge of grip experience in a car.

If you're going to use aids then keep it to ABS and TC and you will be getting a much more authentic experience. Turn off the SRF!

And how many cars have an SRF button or an imaginary driving line pop up in front of them on the track? Has nothing to do with "hardcore" and everything to do with personal preference. Play the way you want to play you don't need to preach about it.

I've raced with just ABS1 for most of my GT5 time, recently started running without ABS to create a more immersive experience for me. It really keeps you on your toes I'll say that!

None, since release day ... tried only ABS 1 the 1st time I drove in GT5, turned it off after 2 laps as it felt like brake assist. Spent the 1st 6 months to adapt to no ABS, never looked back again :D

Could a Moderator please add an "Active Steering" option above the "No Aids" option. And, could they please change "Auto Stability" to "Active Stability".

Thanks. :P

Normally drive with no aids on if on wheel. Unless I'm doing some offline boring race, then I just put ABS on 1. On controller, 90% of the time I'll leave ABS 1 on, but it's great fun without!

I use TC on older MR cars and the driving line on tracks I'm not very familiar with and with cars that I am not used to. I'm working on moving off of all aids all together.

No driving aids here most of the time, including ABS. Sometimes on rare occasions when the brakes on a car are really bad, I will use ABS.

Most cars have ESC (Electronic Steering Control) on them now, that`s the term used rather than Skid Recovery.
Mine saved my life and car once.

SRF is a make believe aid that increases the grip of the tyres when you skid, it has nothing to do with real life systems.

Been spending most of my time lately offline in stock vehicles using no aids (including ABS) and cockpit cam no hud(premiums) or minimal hud(standards).

Online the groups I usually race use ABS1 so I do too. Not that confident without it yet. Also bumper view is easier for me to race in a close pack.

Nothing wrong with learning GT5 with the aids. But it's tricky to give them up once you lean on them for too long.
