Which Driving Aids/Assists do you use?

Been spending most of my time lately offline in stock vehicles using no aids (including ABS) and cockpit cam no hud(premiums) or minimal hud(standards).

Nothing wrong with learning GT5 with the aids. But it's tricky to give them up once you lean on them for too long.

Amen ncrthree, me too.👍 It has opened up GT5 for me. A lot of people have talked about how the suspension is more active/responsive with ABS 0 - this certainly feels true, the cars just come alive. Been busy trying to tame the Nissan Option Stream with no aids...:nervous:

Try it.

ABS=0 mean you have to control the brakes- And you get lock ups...
Lock up the front wheels ... and you understeer off in a nice straight line...
Lock up the rear wheels... and the back end will want to be at the front of the car and you will begin to spin out.

ABS=0 driving demands more concentration.
ABS use is a more easy going prospect and will let you focus on other aspects - turn in, brake points, when to get the power back. ABS=0 just makes it harder for you as a driver. But if you are not used to it it can take the fun away (No one really enjoys spinning out, or ploughing off track straight to the scene of the accident.)

TC 5
SRF on(never really knew it existed till two weeks ago). So will turn off and see if I like it.
ABS 1

Thats it. It what I started with so its hard to change, for me anyway, right now. Like I said trying to go away from SRF and then I will work on the others. TC and ABS will probably stay on since I use the controller most the time.

I will say this though I really don't see the benefit of turning them off. I mean I understand it make you a better racer but you gain nothing in game really. Take Forza for example when you turn assists off you get a bonus to your prize money. So IMO Forza makes you want to turn assists off more than GT 5 does. With that being said if GT 5 rewards you somehow for not using assists I would like to know. However to my knowledge it doesn't.

GT5 does reward you immensely for driving with no/less assists. It's just a matter of perspective. Not everyone plays games for the imaginary money or the stuff you have to unlock or a trophy-collecting level number. Some people even find that those thing take away from their enjoyment.

I can say with zero uncertainty that if ABS-1 was as low as it could go I'd have stopped playing GT5 at least a year ago, probably a good bit more than that.

I don't use any, I primarily drift. If I'm racing under 550 hp, I don't use anything, over I'd put ABS 1.

I find things much more enjoyable without them, using a wheel. Having them on feels so emotionless, my opinion of course.

I use the driving line and ABS - 1 pretty much all the time. SRF or TCS I'll use occasionally. ASM I just can't stand - slows me down way too much.

Well, when I'm racing offline I use none except for ABS but for online usually none but if ABS is available I would use it. When drifting I sometimes use ABS and sometimes I try to be a hardcore driver.

Driving Line, TCS on 5, SRF, and ABS on 1. I find it almost impossible to play when I don't have those on.

In GT1, I used the driving line while I was learning all of the circuits.

I'm pretty sure GT1 doesn't have a driving line for use, but I'm probably wrong.

Fully agree. My point(which i poorly conveyed) was GT 5 doesnt make you really think about not using assists.

Racing with no assists is where its at, if you have a wheel and pedals IMO.

I play with everything off except ABS at 1.

My G27 wheel arrives tomorrow though (super stoked) so I might try turning ABS off and relearning as I adapt to the wheel

i use no driving aids except abs because other aids like tc,asm, srf, and active steering going to do nothing but slow you down and driving line going to make the game too easy

You should have voted for "ABS" not "no driving aids" then as you still uses ABS, just saying :)

Most of the time I just set ABS to 1. Occasionally, I will put TCS to 1 if a car is particularly difficult to drive and has a touchy throttle. I never use SRF or ASM because it pretty much sucks the fun and control out of the driving. I won't consider turning off ABS unless I have a wheel and pedals. Although I leave ABS on, I try to modulate the brakes so that I do not activate the ABS.

I use ABS, and if I am using a high-powered RWD car, I tend to put on some TC.

But it really depends on the track, rules and weather/race conditions.

My driving aids I use:
ABS (use it on cars that have it IRL; always at 1)
TCS (only in very heavy rain with a high powered car; in that case it is on 1 too)

Where is Active steering?!?! I only use ABS and Active steering.

I've asked a Moderator to include it in the poll (to no avail). :P

EDIT: I've PMed a Moderator, so hopefully they can modify it. ;)

Not only that, but SRF doesn't slow you down as he stated. It makes you much, much faster. :yuck:

But I'm one of those people that want to go around the track the hard way without turning off abs

Active steering steers the steering wheel to the opposite direction when the car is sliding,or its fixes your oversteer issues your having in a very loose car
