Driving force gt vs G27 for GT6?

Hello guys!
I have played all gran turismo games since Gt2. I have played gt5 since it came out and enjoyed every minute of it! I have never actually felt how it is to play the game with a steering wheel.
I have always played with a standard PS controller and i have thought about getting a steering wheel for a while but now when i have Gt6 pre-ordered i think its the best time to pick one up.
The driving force gt has been my top choice for a while but there are a few things that i dont like. The pedals dont look good at all and the shifters are just buttons. The g27 looks like it got that quality feel but is it worth more than double the cash? (In sweden the DFGT is 160$ while the g27 cost around 410$).
I cant say im a hardcore sim racer but i play gt5 alot and will certainly play Gt6 alot too. The steering wheel will mainly be for gt but i play racing sims on pc aswell :)

Answers will be me much appreciated!

The DFGT is a good wheel but the pedals are shockingly bad if they are anything like my DFP. It feels like your feet are floating in the air with absolutely no feel to them. The G27 is a fantastic wheel and the pedals are very good. I had a G25 and I gave it to my brother when I bought a fanatec wheel but the fanatec wheel broke too many times so I sold it and now I am stuck with my DFP which I dont use in GT5. I only use the wheel on my PC because most race some support seperate pedals and I can use my Fanatec CSR Elite pedals with my wheel that way.

For a steering wheel ''noob'' as me do you think g27 is worth the extra cash? i thinks the DFP has the same pedals as DFGT :(
 
In my opinion, it is not worth the extra double cash. The G27 is great, the only upsides against the G25 are , as far as I know; more buttons on the wheel, quieter, slightly stronger force feedback, and a thicker wheel for better grip.
 
The DFGT will be fine. You can't go wrong with that choice.

Now, the G27 has a quieter motor and better pedals (plus a clutch) but the clutch is next to pointless in GT5 (and from what i read GT6).

I would say get the DFGT.

Yes. Its worth every cent of it. The wheel is the best you can get for the money and the forcefeedback is slightly better in the G27 than it is in the cheaper wheel.
 
The G27 is certainly a better wheel, I also seem to have more control using the G27.
I love the wheel, good pedals, good paddles, good H-shifter, metal hellical gears and very nice materials.
It is so much smoother and quieter than a DFGT.
But lets face it: It's a hard choice. The G27 is certainly the best of the two but yeah it is much more expensive.
If you are a harcore GT fan and if you are convinced you will play GT6 a lot, I would really buy the G27. It feels much more robust. ;)
For PC sims the clutch and H-shifter a G27 has will also be a nice feature.
 
I bought a g27 specifically for GT6. There was no way I was going to drive my Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe without a clutch and gears!

Yea this is what i have been leaning towards for a long time but i hate it when i get a product thats only in the OK category if you know what i mean..
 
Fanatec wheels are for sure an option. Even probably the most expensive option. I drove around 100.000km with my GT3 RS and it feels - really - like on the 1st day. No probs at all. And the ClubSport Pedals are a dream. But for the price of the pedals you can get a G27. If you really have no experience at all with a wheel - maybe go for the DFGT.

I agree! its obvious that the g27 is much better but its really expensive!

Yea the seperate pedals isnt an option! its to much money to spend if im just getting into racing with a wheel. I know its really good though!

If you think the G27 is really expensive then you should have a look at the Fanatec wheel prices. Thoes wheels come on their own and you have to buy the pedfals and shifter seperate. So for the price of the G27 ists not expensive at all. I had a Fanatec GT3RS V2 so I know how expensive their wheels are.

A friend of mine bought a Fanatec CSR a set of CSR Elite pedals and a wheel stand, drove with it for about 2 -3 hours and put it in the closet, thats around $500-$600 and he doesn't use it because he was so used to the controller and driving chase view that he needed time to adjust to a wheel and did not like the fact that he was slower than with the controller.

There is a definite learning curve when switching to the wheel and not everyone will stay with it so consider that before you invest to much.

I bought the DFGT first and liked it just fine but I also play Forza and wanted something better than the MS Wheel so I ended up getting a Fanatec CSR Elite with CS pedals. That is abotu $700 but very nice rig
 
@yoo77 : I had to make the same decision this summer after my DFGT broke, I know how difficult it is. ;)
You just have to ask yourself: How much will I use it?
If you use it a lot I would go for the G27 but if you use it like one or two hours a week, I would go for the DFGT I think.
It is a good wheel, not nearly as good as the G27, but it's a fair wheel.
It isn't very expensive. The main disadvantage I think are the bad pedals, paddles and seq shifter. It is also quit noisy. I have had a heck lot of fun with it though.

yea i know.. but i guess its worth it if your really serious about your racing :) i know that this is just my forst wheel but i just hate it when i get a product that only is kinda good you know! thats why this choice is hard.

yea i have thought about that, but is must say that i like when a game is hard a i have to learn how to play. getting a wheel is a new start on the game since i have to learn how the cars handle again. I like that challenge though! :)

The G27 is a whole lot better than just kind of good. Its a great wheel. My G25 is nine years old and its still going as good as the day I bought it. My brother uses it for a lot of hours every day and I used it for at least six hours a day for seven years and I never had trouble with it. It also feels a lot better than the DFP that I have with force feedback and its faster to steer with because the DFP is a lot stiffer than the G25.
 
I have a DFGT and it works fine, i put three squash balls behind the brake pedal and get mech better feel, i recommend you try it if you get one

One thing that I'll miss by moving to G27 is the sequential shifter (The stick, not the paddle). I don't know why G27 doesn't have one (From what I read G25 did?).

I am buying a DFGT for GT6 because I dont have the money for a G27:/
I love GT, a wish I could get a G27, but I'm only 12 so I have no chance....
 
One thing you should keep in mind with a wheel is that you're going to need something decent to attach it to if you want to use it properly. I have a DFGT and found something called Wheel Stand Pro which has worked out great so far. Now if I could only find a comfortable driving chair that doesn't look ridiculous in my living room.... or at least ridiculous to my wife.
 
I've owned a DFGT, a G27 and a Fanatec 911 GT3 RS v2 and I would highly recommend the Fanatec over either of the Logitech wheels. My G27 had a faulty part in it that self-destructed after about a year and I know several other people that have had the same issue, for that reason alone I recommend staying away from Logitech. The Fanatec might be just a tad more expensive than a G27 but not much and it's a very nice wheel compared to the other two. The Fanatec has more options (you can change force feedback, steering rotation, etc. right on the wheel without having to exit to the options screen) and you can start off with a more affordable set of pedals and then upgrade them in the future if you'd like. You should be able to get the wheel and intro-level pedals for about $350 USD. 👍
 
I've been running with a G27 for nearly 4 years and it runs the same as the first day I bought it, no issues. I would highly recommend it! Especially if your looking for quality and longevity for a decent price.

Just to add, my 1.5 year old daughter beats the heck out of it and it still runs great!

I feel the gas pedal has enough resistance but the brake pedal does need a bit more, it feels very light on application.. if thats what you mean

i mean the actuall gap between the pedals! :) do you feel like your feet is too close together?
