I bought this 1989 325is in November 2010 after realizing that, as much as I enjoy destroying people with my Grand Prix GTP, I really wanted to do some more autocrossing and eventually the track. The opportunity to get a different vehicle came around when my moms car was on its last leg (95 Chrysler cirrus V6, 215k miles). I said "Fear not mother! Here, have my Grand Prix!" as I smiled, knowing this was how I would get my next car.

Bought it for $1700, with 226k Miles. (Old pictures, now there is less clear coat on the hood, I will upload new ones later)

Here's the list of what has been done to the car, excluding anything that would be considered regular maintenance:

Engine/Transmission:
Spintech 3247 Sportsman Street Muffler
Z3 1.3 Shifter
A/C Delete
Driveshaft Balancer Removed.

Suspension/Wheels/Tires:
Bilstein Sport Suspension Kit (Bilstien shocks + H&R Sports)
IE Spec E30 Front Sway Bar Kit. (urethane bushings, subframe reinforcements and adjustable end links with rod ends.)
IE Front Strut Tower Brace
Running on Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 (195/60R14, Treadware 480)

Bushings:
IE Billet/Urethane Rear Shock Mount Set
IE Delrin Front Control Arm Bushings
IE Urethane Transmission Mounts
IE Urethane Motor Mounts

I am currently working on installing the MegaSquirt DIYPNP stand alone ECU. I haven't been able to get the car started with it yet, but I look forward to improved fuel economy and more power!

Welcome to GTPlanet!

Very nice E30 you've got there. Looks like your iS is decked out in all the options, 13 button OBC, leather, map light. Also, I bet it feels really nice with all that IE stuff installed.

After the MegaSquirt setup, do you plan on doing anything else to the engine, or any swaps in mind?

Oh, and I think you mean the Z3 1.9 for the shifter?

No other plans for the engine 'till it dies on me (impossible?). I want to swap it out for an M50. But It might be tricky cause I want to do it legally... In California!

And yes thank you, I meant to say 1.9 Shifter XP

- Thank you Bacon!

- @Clark: So clean (The engine bay too)! Beautiful car.

. . . But does everything work on it?

The OBC works, but the display is not lit up. And when I bought it, the A/C was not working which, I have pulled the whole system out completely.... I never bothered to find out what was wrong with it in the first place, might have just been out of freon! :dunce: Weight savings WOOO!

Other then that, everything works... Except my drive-shaft that ate the wire to the backup lights, sooo those are not working at the moment either, hah.

When I bought it the suspension was shot. Anything that had anything to do with touching the ground in one way or another needed to be replaced. Works for me, just replace it with performance goods. :sly:

Yeah, I forget that you're in California. I know that the state does not make passing smog easy, but there should be ways of doing swaps legally in California though?

The OBC works, but the display is not lit up.

Should be a pretty cheap fix.
