Awesome car list! Should have split the WRC 97-11 list in two, though.

Agreed.

So, obvious omissions that I can see from a WRC perspective:
Citroen DS3
VW Polo R
Citroen C3 WRC (the 2017- one)
Renault Clio Rally4
Renault Clio Rally3
No Toyotas

And from a recent Codemasters games perspective:
Porsche 924 Carrera GTS (Dirt 5)
Renault Clio Williams Maxi (Dirt 5)
Hyundai i20 2014 (Dirt Rally 1)
Citroen DS21 (Dirt Rally 2)
Nissan 240z (Dirt Rally 2)
Peugeot 307cc (Dirt)

For me I’d love to see the 2003 Subaru Impreza but given we have 3 Impreza already I don’t think we’ll see it but, the Hyundai Accent, Skoda Octavia and Suzuki SX4 would be awesome too , but, with a list like this, I’m totally fine not seeing any of them.

The list of cars is very good, but a simulator that will tell the story of the World Rally Championship (current and classic), without any Toyota Celica or even the Toyota Corolla WRC...

There are still important cars missing like the Citröem DS3, plus a Mitsubishi (from the WRC era)...

and from the era (2017-2021) a Toyota Yaris and Hyundai i20 were missing. We know that it is not possible to satisfy everyone (or perhaps license problems)...

but these cars would certainly give an even greater "plus", we could almost completely simulate all championships since 1973.

Other than the current Rally1 Yaris, anyway. I'd also throw in the Vauxhall Chevette HSR, Peugeot 504 Coupé, Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR (the A70 chassis from the '70s) and the Citroën Xsara Kit Car.

And as much as I'd love to see the Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC 5.0 in a rally game, Nissan should probably be the manufacturer on which they should concentrate their license signing efforts. Just consider how many classes could get additions:

-F2 Kit Car (Almera)
-Group A (Pulsar/Sunny GTI-R)
-Group B (RWD) (240 RS)
-H2 (RWD) (240Z and Violet GT)

One thing I noticed from the car list is that the mini countryman is the one car from the 1.6 narrow body era. Was expecting the fiesta to show, but I’m sure it will show up in DLC.

It’s interesting because the 240z was in Dirt Rally 2, and I’m sure I remember seeing that either the Almere or Sunny had been scanned or sound recorded or something.

30kms of Kenya with the Lancia Stratos.

Who will survive all I can say is after 3 minutes or less I have already rolled the car up.

Cant wait to do this.

Every time I look at the car list I see something else cool. Peugeot 309 GTI? Not sure that’s ever been in a game before? God, my Grandad had a Peugeot 309, never thought I’d get to drive one in a game. Was there ever an Austin Maestro rally car? Shame.

The lack of Toyotas is slightly a shame but I can live with it considering how brilliant the rest of the car list is. One car I’ve always wanted in a modern game is the post facelift Celina with the round headlights (a la Sega Rally) and I’ll have to keep waiting on that one, but you can’t have everything.

Toyota has lots of pretty cool rally cars.

Honestly If I had to choose one I would take the Toyota Celica GT Four (ST185). God I love that car so much.

The Celicas are great but the Corolla is the one that I remember most (mainly an age thing). Saint getting close in 1998 and smashing the rear window. Then the Corolla winning the 1999 team’s championship with Toyota then walking away to focus on F1.

For those interested and capable to read a bit of french ✌️

According to the Book:

PEUGEOT 309 GTI
Engine : 1900 cc 4 cylinders, 8 valves
Power : 180 HP at 5800 RPM
Weight : 740 KG
Airfilter and Turbo : Garret at 0,6 bar

The 16 valves was used in France early 90 but replaced by the 405 mi16

And you just know Codies will nail the sound.

Still haven't played a game with the chevette in it.

Being a classic Vauxhall fan I then got to drive a HSR for a weeding and absolutely feel in love with it and is now one of my top 3 vauxhall/opel cars of all time.

Would love to see it in a game one day, not even sure of a game which has it in it.

Deleted... misread the post I was replying to. Please ignore

This is supposed to be Codemasters' "most ambitious and biggest” AAA game and it's going to go on sale for less F1 23?

It's their biggest game, so probably the most expensive to make, and they're going to sell it for less, so that it will take longer to break even and turn a profit? I highly doubt it. It will be 69,99 across all platforms.

This didn't age well lol. Anyway, I'm personally very excited for more media. From the launch trailer and initial interviews, everything is pointing in the right direction.

Could someone "explain" why it doesn't appear on the list of events (even though it's not part of the current calendar).....the Wales Rally, after all in recent times and past decades, was practically always the decisive stage.

licensing issues?

Doubtful it would be a license issue, don’t need a license for public roads and stuff.

First thing to remember is Wales hasn’t been on the WRC calendar since 2019, that’ll be part of it. From the WRC perspective. But it’s also possible that Wales wasn’t in line for DR3, which is what I reckon the extra rallies had been built for, now they’re extras outside the WRC calendar because why would Codemasters throw away the work they’ve done already.

Maybe we’ll see a Wales rally or based on the rumoured names of the extra rallies (Scandia, Pacifico, Mediterraneo, Iberia, Oceania), perhaps post launch we’ll get ‘Britannia’ which has Wales and Scotland or something. With significant reworking to come up to the standards/length of the new game. Would certainly be a shame to not see one of the most iconic rallies not return.
