What it is: High quality in-ear canal earphones
What it costs: $120 MSRP, got them on sale at Futureshop (Canadian electronics store) for $90
How long have you owned/used it: 2 days
Pros:
* impressive sound quality
* really nice sound isolation from foam tips
* cheap (relatively)
These earphones truely sound amazing. Apparently, the use new drivers that differ from its predicessor, the E2C's and the difference is noticeable. Highs and midrange is just a rich and vibrant but low end has indeed improved. The new Shure SE series also comes with expanding foam sleeves that does a great job is isolating outside noise and are much better than rubber sleeves. The noise isolation is in fact so good, i can now listen to my music in urban traffic with my iPod at very low volume. And they are also relatively cheap as they are a good entry level Shure.
Cons:
* lacks low end bass
* clumsy adapter
The first thing i noticed about E2C's were the lack of bass. After using a pair of CX300's for more than a year, I got used to the exceptional low end "thump" in the Sennheisers. So the lack of bass was the first thing i noticed in the E2C's. These SE110 are definitely an improvement when it comes to bass, there certainly is more than can be desired for. Also, unlike the E2C's, the wire is no longer a single piece but instead, have this adapter in the middle. Shure claims this is for people with iPhones so they can easily swap for a mic attachment. I find this to be very clumsy and useless.
Overall Rating: 8/10
Conclusion: A great pair of earphones. It does have its fault, but then again, i didnt expect anything in this world to be perfect. I would surely recommend these for anybody wanting headphones with around a $100 budget. Love the sound and the isolation is great for my daily commute. Ive only had them for 2 days so i guess they are not properly broken in yet. So i expect better performance in the long run.
