Earth to be hit by comet on 25th May 2006

I call bull on devasting impacts. This looks like nothing more than another thing to blame Bush on.

I'll believe the asteroid of course, but to say that it'll be devastating if Bush signs? What a dumb piece of logic.

The comet will bring peace and love to the middle east and hot ladies to all the virgin men around the globe.

The comet will bring...hot ladies to all the virgin men around the globe.

Seriously!? I might get laid before I graduate on the 27th!!! OH YEEEEAH!!!

well, either way I live in myrtle beach, and may 25 marks memorial day weekend, and I'm going to be right across the street from the ocean!!

SON OF A B**** I'M GONNA DIE!

no, really, i'm kinda rattled

Hopefully this comet doesn't mess up my job interview on Thursday.

Department Manager: "Why did you make a comet crash into the Earth? That's rather inconsiderate, and not indicative of the type of person we like to hire."
Me: "I understand, but I'm not sure that it was really my fault."
Manager: "We can't take that chance. Thank you for your time."
Me: :ouch: [begins 170-mile journey back home]

:nervous: ZOMG!!!11!! I wasn't bothered about this at all, until I found 'proof' on the BBC website (so it must be real)...

Freaky...the article I just read was written on May 25th, 2005 - exactly one year before the 'event', coincidence? I think not... :scared:

Here are just some quotes from the BBC article:-

"heading for losses"
Possibly in the millions, I fear... :ill:

UK.... ...is set to become the next victim
Why us? What have we ever done to it?... :grumpy:

Comet will fall ... in the first half of the year
Looks like they are bang-on with this prediction

Holland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia
(looks like they could be in danger too... :( )

Comet fell by 1.6% in the three months to 30 April
That might not sound like much, but in space-miles, that's ALOT... trust me!

Click here for the full article - been nice knowing you all! :( :guilty:

Just to point out - its closest approach was 0.08AU (12 million kilometres, or about 80 times further away than the Moon) on 11th May and it's now receding from us. If it hasn't utterly disintegrated by then (and it's well on the way - now in 8 recorded fragments) it'll pass closer in 2022, and was as close in 1930.

A miss by 12 million kilometres? Tells you all you need to know about French Air Traffic Control...

Where's Bruce Willis and his drilling team when ya need em. :dopey:

This behavior in others is what keeps me so far above average.

Somebody in Jersey is gonna drive a '63 Mercury Comet off a pier. That'll be your car-sized fragment.
