Easiest way to earn credits...

I want that turbo car but it's proving to be very time consuming getting 200 credits.

Oh yeah, we should race, anyone.

Nope, its really quick to get credits...do the following method:

Go into Options/Misc, and enable the AI uses player setup

Then in single player, make a VERY *horrible* setup (i had mine so they move at 1 mph), and add a few AI bots
Change difficulty to hardest setting, and set laps to 3.

Then start the match.
As soon as the screen opens up, press escape, and go into Pits
Choose a new setup for yourself (a good one)

Every other car will remain the ****ty version...

..or, do a "race" on the skidpan, with as many AI as your PC will support, at the most difficult skill level.

The event starts, and the AI do not know where to go, so you do one loop of the skidpan (right around the central point if you wish) and you win and graba heap of credits...

You have to do a few races, but at around 15seconds a race, it's not too bad...
