You're the richest man in the world, you control several companies worth hundreds of billions of dollars with what might as well be no corporate oversight, you effectively control the incoming United States government through a puppet after already spending half a decade basically just ignoring government regulations anyway; and you spent your first day of the new year using your Kevin Durant burner account to tell people on 4Chan about how you have lots of sex.

Trump wants to kill the EV industry in America.

Elon has been helping him, starting with Tesla

Their strategy is working, at least regarding Tesla and the USA's worldwide EV competitiveness. Make America Grovel Again.

I'm guessing this is why Elon desperately is pivoting over to non-automotive stuff.

Elon must have been the type of kid who went home if he wasn't allowed to win a game or got a gift at another kid's birthday.

No big loss. That article was almost as poorly written as the laughable one The Verge wrote Friday (linked towards the end) where they put out an entire story about how Dittman couldn't be Musk because someone at Twitter told them he wasn't.

There's rather a lot going on here, from a guy who has been doing the legwork on the thin-skinned one for a biography. Some minor language, and some stuff we already knew but laid out like this it's... whew.

The TESCREAList thing is particularly mad.

Edit: Also worth a note that this is one of the very few that has something to say about Maye's role in all of this. I've long held the idea that there is something... not Oedipal about them.

Entirely possible he kills himself trying something any sane person would never do, even if drunk and high.

I'm just waiting to find out that Adrian Dittmann was also the name of one of King Leopold II's favourite...uh...human resources staff in the Congo.

"Wet dirt aka mud".

Thanks, I never would have known otherwise.

And also, I am sure this is a super easy thing to do this while a massive fire is bearing down on you.
He does love the sound of his own Tweets.

Another example from yesterday - “Grok in Teslas is coming soon. So you will just be able to talk to your Tesla and ask for anything,” said Musk. Apparently this is coming "soon". Or "soon™".

This was an item on the (Belgian) news yesterday.
Must be pretty widespread apparently.
Been quite a number of Teslas here in the states with that on bumper stickers. Also read a fair amount of owners who like their cars & want to keep them, but will refrain from purchasing any new ones.

I've also been hearing that the Muskovites have been threatening people who have that sticker and trying to force them into selling their Teslas. And I'm willing to bet the ones doing the threatening don't actually own a Tesla and believe, through their fractured logic, that this is their way of getting cheap ones on the market for themselves.

Musk continues to hype up (aka "BS about") everything to do with self driving. I am impressed with the experiences I have personally had with FSD 13.2.1, however, it is nowhere near ready to be "unsupervised".

Fred Lambert is being realistic in this article...

It's been coming next year since 2014. Every year he says it.

Next Year™

95% of the value of Tesla stock is unrelated to the number of cars they build. And this is not a number I plucked out of my ****hole.

Fully automated driving is right up there with cold fusion, quantum computing and my last Doordash order on the list of things that were supposed to have arrived already but are probably never going to be seen in my lifetime.

Sounds like Waymo is doing a pretty good job of automated driving. One hears the odd negative story, however my impression is that it's up there with the best of Uber drivers. That said, I have zero personal experience.
