Emily Jones: Talking to Gran Turismo's First Female FIA Finalist

It's funny, all the people here whining about "right wingers" a...

The total number of times right-wing is mentioned in the thread = 2, hardly all.

However, a link between the right and misogyny does very much exist, complaining about people mentioning that is, therefore, a bit odd, nor is forming the link exactly surprising?

I thought insults were against the rules here anyways? Yet I've seen them called "snowflakes" and "triggered". But I suppose it has nothing to do with the mod also being in disagreement with them and throwing out labels of his own their way.
GTPlanet has more than one moderator and, until this post, none of them have posted in this thread (technically none still have; I'm an admin, though I have moderation abilities and responsibilities too). In addition, I've not seen anything in the Report queue to suggest that anyone whose posts still exist or are unamended has broken any of this site's rules.

I've found one mention of "snowflakes" (aside from your own) and it was not directed at anyone or any specific group, but a generic, unspoken people who might be offended by articles that are not about male subjects. I've found two mentions of "triggered" (aside from your own) and that's a verb - it describes an action or a response (in the two instances found it refers to a strong, negative emotional response to an article because it's about a female racer) - rather than an insult. As such I see nothing to act on.

In future, please use the Report function, or contact the site staff privately, if you have any concerns about posts that break the Acceptable Use Policy. It saves cluttering threads up with this sort of thing.

I thought we were past the point of treating someone differently based on gender? As far as I’m concerned, she’s just another finalist. Why’s it matter what she’s got betwixt her legs? What makes it newsworthy beyond “she’s a girl”
Because sexists like Vettel say ridiculous stuff like Motorsports is a mans sport

Emily is part of a sim racing team I was a part of during its creation many years ago, Trans Tasman Racing and it pleases me greatly to see that not only does the team still exist but it's thriving on even professional sim racing levels. The team had its origin on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, so it's great to see there is still some indirect representation on Gran Turismo at a high level.
Good luck Emily, may your laps be fast, your races clean and your time fun at the tournament!

Really awesome to see Emily doing so well in Gran Turismo and to see TTR going back to its roots on GT again. Emily has worked her arse off this year both on iRacing in the Supercars Eseries running right now and on GT Sport. Really cool to see her successes and progress she's made in the last few years.

It's been an amazing journey so far with the team too as you said Paulie and honestly 11 years ago I never would've thought we'd have had the success as a team that we've had. It's great to see so many founding members of TTR still around the community like yourself @Paulie and even better that many of us have kept in contact in some way.

This is the best article I've read on women in racing, perspective from rally champ Michele Mouton.

Especially found the last part enlightening.

“It has not been easy. I really think that if I had only been in a female environment, I would have just tried to be the best female driver, I would never have pushed so hard. So for me, it's why it's so important it's not easy and you have to fight to go to the top. But if you have the same conditions, it's possible. I am not special, I am just a normal person.”
