Well done GTSail! I had been thinking about trying Dotini's strategy myself but that's one race I fear I will have no qualms with B-spec'ing and then forgetting about altogether.

Roadster 4 hr endurance - for 200 A-spec points!

I've done it!

I ran against lineup # 2 after the Tsukuba preview as suggested by Dotini:tup:, and basically used Dotini's tactics. A huge thank you is in order!!

Thanks for the plug, GTsail290! It makes me glow with pleasure to help others win this particular race. Previous reports had made it out as rather intimidating, so it's always good to take some of the mystery and fear away from our AI opposition.

Very respectfully yours,
Dotini

Thanks AMG, I'm glad you enjoyed the race report.

Like Dotini, I'm just doing my part to remove the mystery behind this race, so all that remains is the FEAR!

Suzuka 1000 km for 200 points

ASL Arta Garaiya against NTSC lineup #1. Stock power, full downforce, no ballast. Started race on R1/R2 tires, switched to R3/R3 at first pitstop and for rest of race. Unsure of the car's oil status, it had around 1000 km total mileage at the start of the race, but don't know if the oil has ever been changed.

The Motul Pitwork Z is the only opponent to worry about. Probably not beatable without taking shortcuts (at least not by me). Even with the shortcuts, it's still a reasonably challenging race. If you can lap the Z, you're doing really well.

Might be winnable without shortcuts against a different lineup, but I really like races against any NTSC #1 lineup. :)

GTsail290, Huge congrats and a big well done for getting one of the HARDEST races in this game for 200 points.

See you can do it, Now you have the roadster out of the way more time to spend on the Hyundai. :)

Infineon, 2,75 hrs

Using my black, worn down Mazda 787B against PAL-lineup #1 with the following competitors: Nissan R89C, Corvette, Nissan R92CP, Nissan R390 and Sauber C9.

The reason I chose this lineup was, that none of the A-1 cars goes more than 12 laps per stint (R390 and Corvette do not count ;-)) I started on R1/R1 for the first 13 laps, than I changed to R3/R3 with stints of 7 laps and fuel up to 28. Could have gone 8 laps, but that would mean a change of driving style in the 8th.

Completed the race with 115 laps and a MOV of 1 lap and a bit

Just to confirm my previous post, I ran that race yesterday on my PAL version and won by over 6 laps using the same setup on a brand new GSX. Pitted every 14 laps and the 2nd placed Mazda every 15 laps, 1st PAL lineup, sorry I don't remember exact lineup but I didn't take note of anything.

Suzuka 1000 km endurance for 200 points

After giving this one a rest for some month, I retried it yesterday, using my GSX with a different setup. It had 271 hp (finished with 257 hp), used R2/R2 tires against PAL-lineup #3 with the following competitors:

Nissan Xanavi Hiroto + 2 laps and 1 min.
Abt Audi TT-R + 2 1/2 laps
Toyota Esso Ultraflo + 3 laps
Mercedes CLK + several laps
Honda Takata Dome + several laps

I had to put 50 ballast @ 0 on to be able to run against this lineup. Total racing time 6:06´07.199 with a fastest lap of 01´59.6xx. I planned stints of 14 laps, like my main competition. But it turned out I could get only 12 good laps out of R2´s, the 13th lap would mean a compromize in driving style and on the 14th I really lost a lot of time in my first stint. But even with more pitstops than the competition it was a comfortable win. Thanks again nemesis01 for the support.

It's surprising I haven't seen this reported yet, but here's a really nice way to do the 'Ring 24 hour endurance against NTSC lineup #1. Requires no wearing down of the car, and no lineup hunting, and the race is almost disappointingly easy...

Anyway, brand new Amuse S2000 R1 from the dealer. All non-points upgrades, including rigidity. No oil change, stick with the factory oil. Point-relevant setup is: Stage 2 NA Tuning, Racing Exhaust, R1 tires front and rear, and 15 ballast.

For transmission, I used Auto 10. To deal with the 'Ring bumpiness, I raised the ride height, softened just about everything else suspension-related, and dialed in an extra 1/2 degree of camber all around to deal with the extra body roll. Driving aids at 0/0/2.

If you are a 'Ring veteran -- for instance, you're capable of mastering Mission 34 -- then you should easily be able to take the lead on Lap 1 and never give it up again. If you want to spice the race up a little bit, take other (softer) racing tires with you and throw in some laps on the faster tires just to keep things interesting.

To give proper credit, the race was inspired by Fizio's post, but I tweaked it a bit to go against NTSC lineup #1...

Nurburgring 24h - 200 pts

Amuse S2000 R1
R1/R1, No Ballast, Tranny All, Gear Ratio 10, Turbo Stage 1, Racing Exhaust, Chip, Racing Brakes (6/5), Racing Suspension (default)

Nicely done Jbrennen -

What was your final MOV?

I have yet to complete the 24 hours at Nurburgring, so I'm always interested in what others have done (I've been sort of saving it for last).

Nicely done Jbrennen -

What was your final MOV?

I'm actually not done yet. :)

I took the lead on lap 1 and have been averaging about 3.5 to 4 seconds faster per lap than the second place car (Nissan Falken * GT-R Race Car '04)...

That projects out to about a 10-12 minute MOV...

I might give that a try. Thanks jbrennan. I've been itching to get back to playing GT4 and finally finish it. The only races I have left is Endurance races as well as that one championship that has many endurance races in it(I couldn't think of the name. Sorry.). I love the car and the track. Can't wait to give it a try.

Could you elaborate alittle on what you changed? :)

I could give exact numbers once I'm done with the race. I didn't actually take notes, but I'm pretty sure this is very close and maybe even exact, starting from the "stock" default race suspension settings:

- Set spring rates to 75% of the stock spring rates.
- Set ride height halfway between stock ride height and max ride height.
- Set all damper and roll bar settings two notches softer than stock.
- Add half a degree of camber, front and rear.
- Leave toe at zero.

As you can see, this was just a general raising and softening of the suspension. It seemed to work well so I didn't try any further tweaks.

I'm actually not done yet. :)

.....

You're not finished?

Who's driving the Amuse S2000 R1?

It must be nice to be on one of those large race teams with an un-limited budget that can pay for numerous highly skilled race car drivers like yourself!

So, you're surfing the internet and posting to GTPlanet while relaxing in the hospitality suite, while your co-driver does hot laps.

NICE!

Last time that I A-specced a 24 hour race, I think it took 8 days... :)

I've heard of teams of people A-speccing a 24 hour race without pausing, but that's not something I ever anticipate doing...

Nurburgring 4 Hour Endurance: 200 A-spec points

Car: '00 Lotus Elise with the following parts against NTSC lineup #2:

racing brakes
triple plate clutch
racing flywheel
S1 tires (pitted every 5 laps)

This was the most fun I've had in GT4 in a while. 👍 The first 9 laps consisted of close, competitive racing for the lead, with as many as 3 AI cars battling me at the same time. However, as the race wore on, the pit cycling seperated the field to where barring catastrophic failure, I was asssured a victory. After 4 hours and 29 laps, the margin of victory was approximately 1:05 over the Camaro SS. The Lancia Delta finished third, followed by the Audi RS4, Ford Focus RS, and the Pontiac GTO finished dead last.

Nurburgring 24 hour Endurance Race - for 200 A-spec points

I've just completed my last 200 point Endurance race.

As suggested by Jbrennen (thanks), I used the Amuse S2000 R1 '04.

The Amuse S2000 R1 is a wonderful car at Nurburgring. A little underpowered, but easily beats everyone in the turns.

My Amuse had 279 HP. I started on R1 tires, and with the following setup:
Brakes: 8/9
Springs: 9.5/9.5
Ride: 71/71
Bound: 3/5
Rebound: 3/5
Camber: 2.0/1.0
Toe 0/0
Stabilizers: 4/4
Aids: 0,0,2
Ltd Slip: 10/35/10
Ballast: 10 and 2 (to the rear)

Against the following competition:
Toyota Superautobacs Apex MR-S '00
AMG Mercedes 190 E Evol Touring Car '92
Nissan C-West Razo Silvia JGTC '01
Nissan Falken GTR Race Car '04
Opel Calibra Touring Car '94

The only competition is the Nissan Falken who ended up 1 lap plus 3 1/2 minutes down by the end. You get to see the Superautobacs Toyota and the C-West Nissan quite often since they get lapped 10 and 13 times, respectively.

Tuning note: you can still get offered 200 points with more than 279 horsepower. I just wanted to make the race a little harder since it may be my final win.

Happy hunting,
GTsail

Congrats on the last of the enduro hunting.

However if you think this is going to be your last win, you are mistaken. I am sure that you can do those pesky Hyundai's. Because now you have no more enduro's to do, you can have more time for them :)

Thanks Open Addict, I sincerely hope you are right.

It won't be hard to figure out where I should race. My missing points are from three Hyundai races for 20 points each, 6 points at Opera Paris in the VW GTI Cup, and 5 points at Tsukuba in the Suzuki Concept race. At least its a new year so I'm not up against the 365 attempt limit in the Hyundai series!

Congratulations, my friend. You are right down to the nub of the matter. It's time to sit down to the piano and perform Liszt 's etudes. You can follow my track of bread crumbs all the way until you get to Hyundais at Autumn
Ring, and then I'll be following yours!!

With utmost respect and encouragement,
Dotini

Dotini, your trail of bread crumbs have been an immense help.

However, I may need to switch to a diet of steroids to complete the quest.

Nurburgring 4 Hours - 200pts
Car: Nissan 240ZG (HS30) '71
Mods: All non power mods, RC Exhaust, Chip, NA1, S1/S1, NOS (Not Needed), Auto Tranny @ 9, Aids @ 0, 0, 1 - 189BHP Total
Lineup: #2 NTSC:

1) Ford Focus RS '02 - Finished 5th
2) Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe '04 - Finished 6th
3) Chevrolet Camaro SS '00 - Finished 4th
4) Audi RS 4 '01 - Finished 3rd
5) Lancia DELTA HF Integrale Evoluzione '91 - Finished 2nd
6) Me Obviously - Won hurrah!!!

Laps: 29
Best Lap: 8'14.752
Total Time 4:05'37.738
MOV: 1:55

Thought this was going to be tricky, the Focus was with me all the way for 1 and a half laps then he started to make some bad mistakes and dropped right off the pace. The Lancia and the Audi moved up but never caused any problems. Pitted every 4 laps but only had to take on fuel every 2nd stop. The 2nd time I pitted, well I forgot to pit and had to turn round and go back, totally wiped out the 48 second lead I had built up and emerged from the pits about half a second in front of 2nd place car.

Still, easy race in the end and the car is a great little car to drive.

Hi, i'm considering doing a 24 hour race, to get the Bentley Speed 8, as i've never had it before. I want to A-spec it, and I want to get 200 points (So firstly, the race is interesting, and secondly, so I never have to A-spec it ever again, incase I decide to aim for 100k points.

The Black 787B seems to be the best choice. Sadly, I gave mine an oil change. Its a good 350 odd days until i can buy it again, so that option is ruled out. Can a stock/New R390 do it? Or was that referring to the Black R390? (Which i didn't have enough to buy)

If you want to run your 787B, just turn the oil black again by a few hours in B-spec at the Test Course.

Actually, no. I want to do it in anything other than a 787B to be honest, I think it would simply be too easy. The race only lasts 24 hours no matter what car I do it in, as long as it is capable of winning.

I'm considering a CLK GTR, Though i'm not sure if it would be able to actually give 200 points without getting it to black oil in the first place.

Austin343 did Sarthe II 24hr race in a stock Peugot 905 linky here. Says he won by 9 laps but he is a very quick racer. He also used the 787B but for Sarthe I, not sure off the top of my head how different the line ups were. Needless to say both were 200pt races.
