Europe - The Official Thread

The Germans are reporting that it was an islamist from Austria with a big ol Mauser Gewehr 98 with a bayonet. Footage shows that it has quite the recoil.

Haven't seen this discussed elsewhere, not sure the best place for it, but thought it was pretty big news.

Hungary’s Viktor Orban posted on X saying “I am Marine!”
That explains alot 😅

Couldn't have happened to a better Nazi.

Hungary just criminalised gay pride parades apparently. If anything, these sort of actions should get the country in question kicked out of the EU and UN right away. No?

Hmm…Europe too now?
At least it's going through due process that has the faith of the people in question...

"None of us are making any plans to leave. We all feel very defiant and confident that this won't pass through the legal system."

Also worth pointing out it's Germany, rather than the EU, and the EU might well decide to prevent it if it goes against the relevant articles, at least in the case of those people that are EU citizens, who at worst would still be being deported to countries still within the EU (not that that would make it okay).

This feels less like a sinister rise of persecuting free speech though, and more like it it's part of a badly coordinated, over enthusiastic response to show how pro-Jew they all are, after the nasty business in the 1940's - and that **** can get in the bin. Israeli is murdering Palestinians on a massive scale and any body in any sensible country should be able to speak out against it.

It really depends what they did.
If it was for peaceful protesting and the reason they're getting the boot is Palestine, that's ****.
If they did something violent or otherwise criminal and it just happened to be during a Palestinian protest, that's on them and the Palestine thing isn't really that relevant.

This could be mild, but it sounds like there was actual criminality involved. Depending on the level of damage, kicking them out of the country might be appropriate.

I'm not against appropriate civil disobedience when it comes to things like genocide, but you've also got to be ready to accept the consequences for your actions. Let native citizens do the criminal acts, they can't be quietly denied visa renewal let alone straight up kicked out of the country.

Unless you live in America, the land of the free one-way trip to El Salvador.
