It's almost time for GTP8! Provided a few current server hiccups don't slow me down to much, the upgrade process will begin tonight. Expect some forum downtime tonight, and extended downtime of the main site tomorrow. I will try to keep forum downtime to a minimum, while closing off other sections of the site individually. Wish me luck!

For those of you who don't know, "GTP8" is a new version of GTPlanet. It includes a new look, new forums, new features, integration of the Wiki into our content site, and a few other suprises. Stay tuned!

Another one of the many reasons I thank God I live in America. I feel sorry for the Brits who have to deal with forum problems.

Anyway, can't wait to see the new look. :D

Here's to a launch with a few less glitches than GTP6 and GTP7!

The current version is the only version I have ever known....... It's kind of exciting and scary at the same time. :embarrassed: Good luck, Jordan!

Good luck Jordan. Hopefully it goes better than GTP6 did. 👍

Ohh, I’m all tingly inside! :embarrassed:

This is exciting news! Heh, I’d better take some screen caps and ready some larger avatars.;)

It's true, this style has been on the site far longer than any other (about a year and a half).

Fun fact: this style has seen more than 30 million page views!

But don't forget to take some obligatory screenshots for the archives, good luck :)👍!

EDIT:

Man I totally missed that, I blame the anticipation!

I ran into huge problems. Finally, I was able to restore the forum database and get things back to normal for a while. It's 3:30 AM and I'm giving up until tomorrow. :(

That’s no good Jordan. Good work getting it back online! :) Best of luck for tomorrow, though. 👍

What forum problems?

Anyway, we will all be asleep when the changover happens, where as you will have to find something else to occupy yourself with. :)

Good luck Jordan. Hope it all goes smoothly and we see the new version soon. :)👍

Good luck Jordan, that's what I figured you were doing. Can't wait for the update. :D

:ill: It's been that long!?!?

I'm actually a little excited about the whole thing... :dopey:

I've no doubt that GTP8 will exceed expectations. 👍

Good luck with the change-over. :)

Good luck with the upgrade Jordan!

The current version is the only version I've seen too.

There was a link posted a while ago, that lets you see all the old versions of the site.

Does anyone have this?

Good luck, Jordan, no hurry. Just do it right.

Samberto...Why would you need to "ready larger avatars"? Will avatar sizes be increased?

This is also the only version of GTP I have used, so I'm curious to how this new version will look.

P.S. Jordan, when you get a spare minute, you should edit the "Gran Turismo 4" page (not the forum page, the tab at the top of the site) and change the Tracks part. I'm pretty sure it isn't a tentative list anymore. ;)

True.

But on the other one, you can actually browse the forum, instead of looking at images of it.

OK, the good news is that I was finally able to upgrade the forums after some tinkering. While I upgrade the rest of the site, I have decided to open the forums back up again with the old style. You WILL notice many things are missing, including avatars, and some features may be broken. This is occuring because these "templates", which display everything, are now very different from the underlying structure of the forum. The templates were never meant to work with this code, and they don't do so very well. As soon as I get the rest of the site ready, I will move our new style (which is created for the new forum software) here.

If anyone has problems or anything, please refer them to this post. I will only try to fix something that prevents you from accessing or posting to the forums.
