Well iOS 9.3 landed and I have thier version Nightshift. I'll see what if any difference it makes tonight.

Just downloaded iOS 9.3 and tried nightshift. I can only see the option to set the time onset/offset manually. Is there a way to make it automatically adjust based on your location like f.lux? The patch notes says that it should.

I can't see it. I just see a time you can set it to come on and off, or the manual option. It makes my screen look orange. :odd:

...I downloaded f.lux after reading this thread, and most of the time it works as advertized, but there's this weird thing - dunno whether it's only me or not - where the screen-brightness effect cancels out whenever I bring my laptop out of Sleep mode, necessiating me to manually get the effect going again.

Not a deal breaker, but an odd thing nonetheless. :odd:

@LeGeNd-1 I haven't seen any options for automatic adjustment. Maybe it works alongside the auto brightness.

Just figured this out. Apparently you need your Location settings to be ON for the auto adjustment to work. Is it worth the privacy and extra battery life costs? Personally I think I'll stick to the manual adjustment.

Thanks for that! I was wondering why when I set it to come on last night at a certain timeframe, it wouldn't come on unless I used manual.

With F.lux,
Alt+End Disables what it is doing
Alt+PgUp Increases brightess
Alt+DgDn Reduces brightness

But of course apple does not have this feature, they just copy others, then the media outlets go wild for this feature.

Just installed it on my Macbook. Hoping I'll get used to it.
Make sure you're using the "slow transitions" and adjust the color temperature to something a little less extreme. As it gradually becomes more red/orange/yellow as the sun goes down, you won't notice it as much as if you just turn it on while using it at night.

The slow transition still is too quick in IMO, I have it set to the slow and it goes from 5000k down to 2700k in 10 minutes after sundown.

I wish that you had the option of setting a time when you want it to start changing the screen color.

How do I completely stop it when I want to watch some youtube videos without the orange tint? On Mac, there's an option to disable it for an hour, but the screen gets so dark. There's the daytime preview with full blue light, but it resets to the nighttime setting 5 seconds later.

Alt+End disables Flux for one hour.
Alt+Page Up Increases brightness.
Alt+Page Down Reduces brightness.

Does the eye have some kind of while balance?

After a while 3500K looks white to me and disabling makes everything seem too blue, and when I use "darkroom" mode, everything is red, but after a while it seems more orange.

Not white balance, but I imagine your retina cone cells (the ones responsible for detecting R/G/B) gets desensitised after a while, and when you switch modes the imbalance in cone receptivity causes things to look different.

Kinda like this:

Tried this on an old rooted phone for android and well it doesn't work as well as it does on the PC.
I am using the slow transitions and it seems that going from 6500 to 3400 takes the full 60m that it says.

Going to be completely honest, I don't think f.lux is for me. Most of the time, I leave it on "Movie Mode" because I watch videos to help me relax before going to bed. That's when I probably need f.lux the most. Of course, I also read a lot of sites, particularly reddit posts, so I could leave it on the recommended settings (1900K). :/
