I have owned every F1 racing game ever made (sold in US) for PC and PS. I bought my original PS3 just to play F1CE, so I will no doubt be getting my copy the morning of it's release. I have over 500 hrs on my current game save and hosted my own F1CE tournament before GTP started theirs, so I'm here to say, I live for F1.
F1CE while being a really great game, had some serious issues with the online component, such as serious lag and poor collision physics I refer to as "the force field bubble". I also didn't care for the AI drivers ghosting out automatically. Although being, in my opinion the best F1 game, there were some deficiencies in general, such as not being able to chose (change) the tire compound during the race or switch to rain or intermediates at will. I would have also liked to see the safety car come out on occassion as well.
While we have no way of knowing, I am hoping that the Codemasters version has more detail of this nature. When I first read of their licensing the game, I sent them an email addressing the handling issues such as was mentioned here about GRID (and for that matter ... DIRT) and asked them to carefully consider the real world precision that F1 cars need to be driven with and not use the rubber band, yo-yo, back and forth feeling of their previous offerings and suggested they revamp their handling physics completely. To my surprise, I received a very respectful and prompt reply from the Codemasters development team assuring me that they would take these kinds of things into consideration.
I guess the proof is in the pudding I for one, simply can't wait
