F1 2010 Video ThreadF1 2010-2016

So again, people are going to be fooled into thinking the graphics are amazing by looking at these (very small) You Tube videos!

Now I can't say how much better a maxed out PC rendering looks (or for that matter a 360 version), but please bear in mind that in reality, on a large HD screen, F1 2010 doesn't look anything like as good as it looks in these videos, because the textures & detail are not nearly as good as these videos would lead you to believe...

Well, you're right about one thing... these videos don't look as good as some are thinking, in fact they'll look at least 2-3x better. In the case of myself and chromatic we're on the PC version and one of us is forcing DX11.

The other is maxing it out using native DX9 at 1080p. My YT uploads are heavily compressed by Movie Maker and is downscaled to 720p. :P

Sorry Terronium, as I belong to an ... older generation, I don't have any idea what you're talking about! I take it you mean that the graphics CAN look good on a high spec PC. It unfortunately doesn't change the fact that everyone playing F1 2010 on a PS3 is going to be looking at something that doesn't live up to the promise of those reduced scale You Tube videos, & shouldn't be buying the game for its graphics.

You're absolutely right. There's plenty of us around with that same train of thought, if a game sucks it doesn't really matter how fantastic the graphics are because the game still sucks. As for how the game can look on the PC, check out the picture thread.

chromatic, (what is your real name, feel like I'm talking to a robot :P) you've probably realized this a lot sooner than I did, but you can use Monaco's lighting mod for Monza. I'm pretty sure you can substitute all of the default lighting files with the modded ones. Just a bit of trial and error.

I'm using the realistic sun mod, but the effects seem to work at random times. It works in practice 1, not in practice 2, not in qualifying, not in wet races, but it does work in dry races. I'm wondering whether the mod only is implemented in bone dry conditions.

Also, what's up with my crap quality? I have to ask you to switch to 1080p HD or double click to go to YouTube to watch it in fullscreen size to even see what's going on, but I don't understand why my videos are of such low quality when in 360p size. I always have a black window around my videos as well, even though I'm playing the game on my screen's native resolution and I've told Fraps to record the entire screen size :dunce:

Nice lap, Mastasidaz. 👍

I have yet to pick this game up, but I've played it quite a bit at a friends house. I was overall quite impressed. I'll probably end up with the PC version, if for no other reason than the superior graphics.

;)

Oh, ok. a couple times it seemed like you were hitting end to end at 180 degrees.

I did. :P

Even with all of the tuning, all of these cars still seem to have a slight understeer bias. It's either you know the course very well and be brave going into the corner to offset it, or you don't know it very well and still be brave....but going into it one gear lower than you should and just power out - I've done both here. :grumpy:

You should have 220 with DFGT. I have DFP and I only have 180 :( it sucks! Hey, if I go through with it, i'll send you to my ustream page I have set up for tomorrow and I will be streaming URS Round 1 live.

There is video up of suzuka in the wet, it looks like the guy is driving in the dry, way to much grip. He was taking massive amounts of curb and there was not even a hint of overstreer. No locking up or missing the apex under braking. The car not once in the whole video look nervous or twitchy.

Dissapointing.

Have you played the game?

If you haven't, I'd suggest doing so before assuming something is disappointing.

Weeeeeee I got it to post....lol

Here are a couple of my Quali laps from last weeks URS race at Bahrain

No assist only DL in the turns

Nice driving man, but your downshifts are far too conservative for me. :P 👍

I just try to be consistent and if you DS to fast the tires never give you there full benefit of slow down and car set to exit the turn gracefully. There is also a DS lag in the sound, so if I machinegun the DS sequence it’s just like locking up the rears. I think I am in full touch with the way the car slips through the turns and that’s how I roll. Good luck w/ that rapid fire DS style though……lol
