F1 2011 do you plan to get it?F1 2010-2016

I'm thinking of picking this up at release. I've never owned an F1 game in the past but this entry had peaked my interest. I will spend the next month watching all the videos and checking out info as I can. Anything I should be aware of as a first time F1 buyer?

Preordered my copy of F1 2011 yesterday for ps3. Was going to go for pc version, but figured more would buy it for ps3.

Going to pick it up right away after I'm leaving work - so at 9:15am in the morning, night shift ftw. Yet, I'd be glad to know in advance if Monaco will be better this time...the fps drops in the harbor area are extremely horrible. I've tried both 720p and 1080p but it doesn't change a thing (PS3).

I think the top speed of the car will be limited under safety car conditions. There's too much potential for people to cheat by passing everyone behind the safety car and building up a lead otherwise.

I'm getting f1 2011 for sure on the PS3. Hm, did these guys even announce their supported wheel list yet? Would suck if my t500rs wasn't officially supported. But that would be most odd considering dirt 3 works with it wonderfully (just finally finished dirt 3 SP campaign)

not sure how much free time I'll have with Gears of War 3 coming out the same week. But no doubt GoW 3 coop campaign will be short just like the 2 previous editions is the good news 👍

Good to hear mechanical damage will be present this year.

Who remembers the puncture problems before the patch. Hope mechanical damage doesn't suffer the same fate at launch.

I jumped F1 2010 but 2011 I have pre-ordered. I hope it will have fixed up the issues of 2010 and the additional stuff sounds great like KERS

I'm getting Gears 3 too. Haven't played co-op campaign yet though. So the online campaign is pretty short in Gears 2 huh?

Because its not for your helmet? That filter is their way of smoothing the jaggies from the graphics...its a common technique in games these days. Any "its your helmet" kind of explanation is pure BS.

Personally I'd prefer sharp and crisp graphics with the jagged edges than this horrible filter that makes everything look shiny and odd, brown colours. The worst cars with these filters are the Ferrari's and in 2010 the yellow of the Renaults especially. They just look wrong. Not to mention the chrome of the McLarens turning into a gray shiny blur.

Going from F1:CE which had "unrealistic" but vibrant and colourful textures and graphics to F1 2010 was quite the difference. As I said, I'd prefer the unrealistic jagged edges and lighting but more colourful environments over these brown, gray and shiny ones. Neither are particularly realistic but at least get the colours right! Screw lighting and smoothness.

2010 wasn't that bad a good start for the team. 2011 is meant to be much more of a challenge and not something that you can be great at from the start, you'll need to really practice to race well.

Hope the AI is a bit more adaptive as well.

I'm getting 2-3 seconds away per lap in Monaco if I'm setting it to professional but I can't get anything better than 2nd if I'm setting it to legend. (all aids except pit stop stuff disabled)

Yeah same here. I have more previous racing buds on PS3 and the main forums I stay around are PS3 centered (GTP) or PS3 near exclusive.

I found it very disappointing for FFB with F1 2010, almost certainly a problem related to the patch they released which seemed to hit the G27 harder than the G25. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts, especially if you've used a G25 previously

Played it a bit, and just now moved on to GT5. I'd been using the DFGT previously. Honestly, I'm most disappointed with the GT5 feedback. I have finally experienced the "dead zone" I'd heard about. F1 2010 seemed fine to me, but I didn't play it with the previous non-patch FFB either.

Right now the hardest thing is adjusting to the brake pedal. After playing with the DFGT pedals for so long it's quite a drastic change. I've had to switch to left-foot braking now, which may be faster for me in the end, but at the moment I'm having to take time to adjust.

Oh, and it's interesting to come from engine braking so much in the F1 cars to trying to do that on GT5... doesn't work!
