F1® 2020 Patch Notes

I must admit I am very happy with this update to the game.

My struggles with the Red Bull and top tier car performance i have already mentioned but I have a feeling there may have been a change in the free practice program's timing delta's etc that hasn't been documented.

I know each track is different but I am at Monaco in the season at the moment and I was in a real struggle to find a setup for the practice programs
but then I installed the update file and practice program problems with default setup YAY!

Will see how tonight goes but all in all I am much happier to stay with Red Bull. 👍

I finished the first season of MyTeam, and ended up 7th in constructor's points (which granted me an additional 12.5 million dollars) and 9th in driver's points. 77 points were scored by me and one point by Jordan King... which I dropped at the end of the season as he was wildly inconsistent and barley gained Resource Points. I picked up Nyck De Vries to replace him. Below are the driver moves that happened which would be wild to see in reality.
  1. Roman Grosjean retired, so Haas replaced him with George Russell.
  2. Red Bull dropped Alex Albon, and replaced him with Danny Riccardo. Albon was picked up by Williams...
  3. Kimi went to Renault, and Alfa Romeo picked up my former driver Jordan King.
I was able to secure enough Resource Points to convert my old parts to the new regulations, and have two new [major] chassis parts developed before Melbourne. During this time, I also changed my primary sponsor to Slingshot, and swap to the Mercedes PU (was using Honda before). I don't think the PU supplier's performance and durability stats were updated after the season? Then again, are they suppose to update?? I can't remember.

I think someone mentioned this earlier, yet it's super worth your while to invest in the driver facility. Mine is barley "Spec 2." Below is an image of Nyck's current stats and he hasn't even turned a wheel in anger for my team. His stats are way better than what Jordan's were (Jordan was +10 for EXP, and only +5 for everything else). Plus Nyck is not asking for a butt-load of money. lol. Season two is about to be good. :D

I’m on season 2 in Canada and I’m finding it very easy to get lots of resource points now. I have the best team after starting the season as 6th or 7th best.

The gearbox wear issue I had in season 1 is gone, it can low last for at least 7 races compared to 3. I have not applied any other reliability upgrades and I’m driving the exact same way. Really weird.

Should be getting back to my season tonight but I have a wet practice session at Monaco which is gonna be so fun...(sarcastic voice)
but it does seem that the resource points are easier now as per my previous post.

Hopefully that remains, I did try with the Merc on my test account and the challenge of obtaining resource points still seems to be a thing with that team but will compare again tonight on my Red Bull season.

For those of you doing Podium Pass, how different is the content this time round, I am just doing the standard one until I earn enough points that I acan start to run the premium one with in game earnt points.

I'm still in season 1 of My Team, I've got Mick Schumacher as my team mate. The problem I'm having is that we are having wildly different seasons. I am consistently scoring points when the car shouldn't be (and I've even taken advantage of well timed safety cars and good strategies to claim 2 wins :scared: ) whilst Schumacher is qualifying 17th most races and has no points at all. Just finished Austria, and opted to retain Schumacher, but I'll be having a look for a replacement come the end of Season 1.

I have been applying a lot of upgrades to the car, and it is definitely moving up the ranking, but I think all the effort getting the right AI setting before starting out has been undone by patch updates helping me get a better grip of the car! I was struggling with track limits unusually more than 2019, but a lot of tweaking with the controller settings (plus the updates) has sorted that out.

Believe you have to have developed your team mate during the 1st season before they will start to perform, it has something to do with the building developments you make during the year.

I have not looked enough at My Team but I believe 2nd season your team mate will be a monster

Did you change PU suppliers? I just started season 2, swapped to Mercedes, and my reliability went from dead last to 3rd.

I've been helping where I can with the activities between weekends as well. I've done a bit of building development across the board, but it is taking time as I don't like leaving my balance empty! Currently happy with where the car is in development (Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, Racing Point, McLaren ahead) and with a lot of R&D options in all 4 areas. So driver and marketing departments will get some focus next.

I never got an E-Mail telling me it had happened, but Mercedes have ditched Valterri Bottas and brought in Nyck De Vries. I don't know how intentional it is that he is linked with the Mercedes team through Formula E, but the fans are going to angry now that the close Championship battle between the Mercedes team mates is over and Lewis Hamilton has a hand on the Championship trophy.... :irked: Leaves me hoping Bottas might be available for Season 2 at a discount!!!

Am planning to start my team season very soon so I will see if there's a quicker way to help your team mate improve but still stand that he will improve a lot for season 2.

I guess changes can happen that way but good luck with a discount on Bottas, don't think the game knows the word...

Started P22 after 55 place grid penalty.

I thought I was in for a tough race at 100 AI difficulty but this was meant to be.

I had all engine parts fresh for the race. And an early safety car at lap 6-ish I changed from softs to mediums. Then changed to softs a bit later before going intermediates in the last 8 or so laps. Great freaking race! :D

As far as I understand it, the buyout is now £0 as I don't have to pay any money to Mercedes. He is obviously still rated as one of the best drivers (89 overall I think) but he will now cost about £8million when I think before he would have cost about £12million. Someone else might confirm that though! :D

Still in season 1, and I won Monza. Different to my previous 2 wins where a safety car worked in my favour, I started 3rd and got to 1st from the start. I had to survive 2 safety car restarts of my own, including a restart with only 2 laps left and now on aged mediums against an entire field on hards... It let Hamilton steal the fastest lap.

I know Monza is a bit of an outlier in that 1 car characteristic takes centre stage, however I'm going to experiment tonight with the AI level again. I said before that I was happy as it was and it had been right at the start of the year, but my results are definitely above where I would expect. The car is not the best at all, still in the midfield on the performance charts, but results are "too good" for my liking...

That said, Schumacher is now underperforming in my view. He is yet to get through to Q2, even here where the straight line speed of our car should have seen him have a chance to make it through. Hoping Bottas joins, but I forgot that drivers have their own demands for car performance etc. so I am expecting it to be a tough negotiation!

Im on Season 3 now,and i really hope Hamilton retires soon - hes on for a 3rd title in a row! However ive made massive strides in R&D and im currently level with Mercedes at the top of the performance chart - and 3 wins in a row has put me up to 3rd in the championship! Even my TM Aitken has started to pick up some points - i gave him a target of 50 points for the season or i will sack him haha.

McLaren look to be getting strong - they just got a One-Two at Silverstone,so it looks to be an interesting 2nd half to the season..

Just completed season 1 at ~100% AI difficulty. Which for me, being a casual pleb, is awesome! :dopey:

Some races were alot harder than others. Smashed my teammate, so I guess I need to up the % a bit.

I've been home the last few days burning some vacation days and I started playing F1 2020 again. I had a race where I forgot to pit when told to and had to key the radio to come back in on the next lap. But after that I couldn't clear off the radio display options. It would just toggle back and forth between the entire menu and just a coupe of options. It never went back to just the "X" icon. How do you get rid of that display?

Also previously I had ran a couple of races in Schumacher's F1 2004. This time I tried the '91 McLaren but both of the '98 McLarens kind of ran off into the distance which naturally I guess they would. But to get a little bit of a competitive race do you need to adjust AI accordingly to which classic car you're racing?

Keep hitting the o button

O button? With Xbox it's X, Y, A, B. The radio is X but it doesn't close it completely out.
reset too default controller settings? if no buttons are working maybe you have 2 buttons assigned to same command

I've never assigned any command buttons that I know of. The radio button has always been X. That's what shows on the screen when you're driving. Next time I play I'll take a screen shot to show you what I'm talking about.

Just that on ps4 the radio button is r3 and when you press it you have 7 seconds too select something or it closes, or to change the mfd it is the - button, which gives info about tyre n pit stops and fuel which you just keep pressing till it shows no info.

Started my team and created Audi Sport. It'll be a long season as i just dont have too much free time, but it'll be fun.

Liking the game a lot so far. Last one played was 2018.

How do you handle Monaco in this game? I thought I would try it out a couple of days ago and it was a big mistake. Used a F2 car since I thought that would be easier at first but no matter how slow I went I couldn't negotiate those slow tight turns.

Slow and smooth. Basically. :dopey:

How's the car behaving through Casino (turn 4), and the swimming pool section (turns 13-16)? If it doesn't have a hint of oversteer going through there flat out, the car most likely has too much understeer.

It's like it just doesn't want to turn unless I'm creeping through there and even then it's hard to negotiate without cutting a corner. I've got the both the in game DOR and physical DOR on my wheel set to 360 degrees.

NVM, your setup is good. Do you have the same issue at Singapore or Hungaroring by any chance?
