I would say its a tie between Alonso and Hamilton for the best driver in f1 now, you could say Hamilton is better because of his first year with teammate Alonso but then again they finished with the same points so it kinda says they are equal , lol .

I think Button joining McLaren has actually helped Hamilton , Button is the smoothest driver in f1 now and Hamilton has had to adapt some of Buttons tire management skills , he is nowhere near Button in this department but he surely has learned something from his teammate.

Vettel has just been showing us this year that he isnt as good as some of the other drivers because he is buckling under pressure , we cant praise him when he wins or say its just the car that makes him win and then when he loses or gets passed we say the car isnt as good as the others in the wet. He has the best car in the dry but he isnt the best driver on the grid.

Di Resta does look like he could be a serious threat in the future if he gets the proper car and Perez does look like he could a great driver as well , I heard Ferrari are looking at Perez as a Massa replacement.
 
I'm not sure that's quite accurate enough. There are other drivers on the grid that can do well in a broad range of conditions or in changing conditions, including his teammate Lewis Hamilton who has exhibited great skill in the rain. The difference between Hamilton and Button is that Button has benefited from more luck in changing conditions.

Looking to Hungary as an illustration, Lewis went for a tire change, which could have been the right move if the rain continued, and Button staying out on slicks would have been a poor move, but unfortunately for Lewis the rain subsided and the tire change turned out to be the wrong move, and Button just got lucky on the gamble to not switch. Lewis could have done at least as well as Jenson without the tire switch, but the tire switch must have appeared like a good gamble to someone at the time, but somebody guessed wrong.

Invalid point as in that race Hamilton would have still had to switch to the Soft/Prime tyre as he had only used super softs and the full wets weren't used. So just before the rain came down Hamilton was out of phase in the pit stops and so Button was the true race leader as he had 20 seconds on Hamilton. The rain was actually very bad luck because it would have eliminated the pitstop advantage.

Button lost out on a race win at Monaco and also two points finishes at Silverstone and the Nurburgring due to bad 'luck'. Also due to his inconsistent qualifying performances he often gets stuck behind slower cars in the first stint of a race, but matches the leaders once he gets past. Hamilton is faster over one lap, but over a race distance, there is very little between them. (Hamilton's overtaking is a double edged sword at times)
