I agree with that for the most part but the current F1 isn't as boring as he states.I know it isn't like it used to be but that because of safety regulations. The current cars are also more closer in performance than in the old days where they would differ 10-15 seconds per lap.
I do agree on the fact that all the tracks that are in construction right now are all medium-slow tracks with very little overtaking oportunity. They need to build some of those XGRA tracks hehe. Now that would be sweet.

He's pretty much right, they do need to bring back some aspects of the sport that are long gone. I also would like to see things that have been banned brought back in like ground effect and turbochargers and 6 wheels!

I was sooooo annoyed when they took the long straight out of Hokenhiem (I think) where the cars dissapear into the forest at rediculous speeds hit a chicane and then come flying back to the main part of the track 10 seconds later. That used to be one of my favourite tracks but now its pretty dull.

Worth noting that article's 5 years old.

It's increasingly apparent Formula One was never the sport it once was.

Oh yes I agree DQuaN I used to love Hokenheim too, its dreadfull now it seems the tracks are designed solely to give advertisers room for all there banners. But I love F1 and always will and it isnt Ferrari's fault that there so good but it is a bit depresing looking ahead to this season tho. :(

same...hokenheim was a GREAT track.....i loved watching todays f1 cars fly down the straights then smack hard on the brakes for the chicaines. remember rubens barrichello first f1 victory at hockenheim back in 2000...starting 17 or 18 on the grid....blasted through thaffic...dodged the crazy man on the track  and won the race in the end...that was one of the greatest f1 races ever (well i thought so)

Yes, most of the tracks are pretty dull now. I like Monaco and Bahrain and Aust but that's pretty much it now.

One thing I've noticed in 17 years of being an F1 fan: The good old days are always many years ago...and yet, there's still more fans than ever before. I don't understand it.

However, 10 years ago, fans missed the days of the turbos; a decade before that, they missed the simpler times...and before that the drivers were real men, not prima donnas.

It's not so much cyclical, as it is a reoccuring theme...

Indeed. I'm sure when the first championship was run a lot of people probably reckoned it was better when motor racing was just a loose series of grands prix held in various European countries.
