Fair Critique of GT7?

These guys that pop into threads and tell others what someone can and cannot do are like the dirty drivers you have to race with. They don't care what others are trying to do, they just want their way as the only to play.

I thought so too, and I thought her reasons for each of her points were thoughtful...sad were not getting any of that in this thread.
GUILTY.

I will say GT coming to PC is a pipe dream, her logic is the same as mine; it's a driving factor for people to buy PS5's. It is the reason why I have a PS5.

Personally, I want more 'common' cars and all the classic GT-All Star cars from the early days (GT40 Race Car '69 anyone?). But, I see the appeal of GT3 cars and I'm totally fine with that too.

She is totally on point about the reused online combos, thats a biggie.

While I do love the classic GT Enduros, I hated the fact that I had to have my PS3 running for 2 weeks straight while I do the Le Mans and Nordschliefe 24 hour ones in GT5. However, even the classic enduros felt pointless over time because the AI was so weak. "Oh look, I just lapped the AI again cause they are in the pits....byeeee!"

Her best point imo was about the chase the rabbit. That just needs to stop, like she said, we have Sophy now, so let's just drop all the old AI out and replace them with difficulty adjusting Sophys.

That one indeed has been discussed enough already...but PD is like addicted to it...just will not let it go despite so many fans turned off by it.

Curious why do you think it's a pipe dream to see GT coming to PC? Would a disproportionate number of people stop buying a PS and opt for a PC?

The two first points are the typical whines that a kid would do, I've seen them lots and lots of times and Its hard to believe how much they struggle to get it.

Point 1: Its impossble to please everyone with the car additions, some people will always complain that they don't like the car(s) added
Point 2: You make your own difficulty level in GT, if the event is too easy then nerf the car. And... racing is actually about chasing the rabbit! But the rabbit usually goes almost as fast as you if not faster. Adjust yourself.

And I didn't bother to watch the rest.

That's the title of the thread, how's that going giving your comment on it? how is that getting engagment and discussion going?
Yeah, but if OP actually included commentary on what the video is about in the thread, to actually start a debate here without people having to watch first, YouTube wouldn't be able to track the views and likes... OP would just be discussing a topic with other people.

YouTube views and likes are so much more important than actual discussion!

OP could of stated something like "I really agree with the video's points on a Ferrari being 11 years old now missing 3 generations" rather than just nothing...

If someone came up to you and handed you a flyer that said fair "fair critique of pizzeria" would you actually go and look into it? probably throw it in the nearest bin.

And it's more of a wishlist video than a critique...

I would not classify it as a pipe dream for me. And I think Sony won't do that. They need games that sell consoles, otherwise they might as well shut down now. Microsoft has a enormous catalogue that can go both on PC and Xbox + the Xbox Game pass thing that allow players to access games very easily. And Microsoft has also enormous resources. So Sony must not let go its better assets.

You could launch a poll to see, in GTPlanet, how many players would have a PS5 or 4, if not for GT franchise. I bet most of us would not.

Came back to GT7 recently (well, this week) and it's disappointing that this video exists in 2024.

She's right on most points, although the big thing I would add is an overhaul of the custom lobbys. I just want to race on different tracks with non-race cars and not have to keep hoping I find a lobby that can cater to that. I love variety in my racing and miss the fun days of TOCA 3, Race Pro and PCARs lobbies.

The chase the rabbit **** needs to stop too, as it's beyond dull and really outdated.

I agree with alot of what she said as GT7 was the only reason I purchased a PS5 initially.

she makes some good points but I don't see GT7 going to PC. GT is a system seller
I also bought a ps5 just for GT7, but I'm not sure I would ditch the purchase of the next playstation console just because GT was available on a PC.

I think those with a PC already may enjoy GT as a nostalgic/more relaxed racing option, but most current GT fans are unlikely to jump into a PC just for GT. If both were available, I think most current players will still stick with the console version.

Plus, we already know PD's reputation, so they'd never allow GT anywhere else than PS
What are you still doing in my thread? Didn't you imply earlier that this thread was worthless?

Wish there was a boot option in the threads like that of the lobbies. The nerve of some people.

So for some reason you target me in particular, but not the other guy? Guess I'll be keeping my door extra-locked for tonight.

But look, if you don't want people to post in your thread, don't start one. Simple as that. ;)

And, as already stated, but now nullified...keep your garbage out of my notification feed. Much appreciated. <3

If you have a PC, why would you buy GT7? That's a more poignant question.

PC already has Assetto Corsa/Competizione, iRacing and a bunch of other sims, and most PC gamers that I know have PC GamePass, which gives them the Forza games. It's a saturated platform for racers, meaning the returns on production costs aren't necessarily there for PD.

Sony's other games that have gone to PC are all fairly unique for what they are - story driven games that have character that are otherwise locked to PlayStation, GT7 isn't that, so it likely wouldn't get the attention required.

I thought it was an excellent video with well made points. A far cry from the your typical YouTube clickbait nonsense.

There really is no evidence PC releases holds back console sales. Particularly when titles are released 2-3 years after the console release. The value for money of a PS5 is far beyond PC - that market has seen a cost explosion. Sure, in an ideal world I'd love a £2500+ 4090 PC to max out GT7. But I'll get a very similar experience with a £450+ PS5 Pro with all the convenience of a console. That's why brands such as Sony don't see PC as a competitor.

Maybe it's because players (at least on this forum) tend to be in the 30-40+ age range we find it difficult to imagine Gran Turismo on another platform. But the industry has changed, Sony are fully onboard with PC, and Microsoft are reportedly weeks away from announcing 3rd party support for PlayStation. At this point every major Sony franchise has an announced PC release with the exception of Gran Turismo. I don't see it being an exception for much longer.

For me, I wouldn't buy a PS6 and I'd sell my two PS5s. Granted they only care about that first item, but really for me, PS is a GT machine, just like the Switch is a Zelda machine. If Sony were to do that, they probably realize/expect tons of outrage from console gamers, something along the lines of, "Hey! I can't afford an expensive PC!" But that really depends on what they decide to do. Put it out on PC AND PS (best idea) or PC only.

To be honest, a word or two about the video would be nice. You could give it a little introduction, explain why you think it’s interesting enough to share or provide your own opinion about it to get the discussion started. Just dropping a link to a video is kind of lazy, especially if you’re starting a new thread for it.

You don’t HAVE to do it, but the thread has a higher chance to be successful if you do.
