Fair Critique of GT7?

There really is no evidence PC releases holds back console sales. Particularly when titles are released 2-3 years after the console release.
GT is a serie, we all know GT8 is coming, if GT7 goes to PC, we will know that GT8 will do the same, so I'll wait for GT8 to be available on PC, that is if PS5 is not fully able to run it efficiently. But I will not be buying a PS6 in such scenario.

To be honest, a word or two about the video would be nice. You could give it a little introduction, explain why you think it’s interesting enough to share or provide your own opinion about it to get the discussion started. Just dropping a link to a video is kind of lazy, especially if you’re starting a new thread for it.

You don’t HAVE to do it, but the thread has a higher chance to be successful if you do.
Shhh! Don’t tell them what to do with reason and logic, otherwise this isn’t the thread for you and they’ll poo emoji all your posts!

If you have a PC, why would you buy GT7? That's a more poignant question.
Because gt 7 is not a "sim" (in a good way). I have most of the titles you mentioned and they all have their appeals and so has gran turismo.
Other reasons why I would buy gt is because of nostalgia, accessibility, cars and the original (gran turismo) tracks (Kaz give us already r246!)

Just giving you a taste of your own medicine. I usually never poo on others, I just move on if someone posts something not interesting.
I know opinions can be different, and I usually poo on comments that just dont fit the thread (like here) while you do it for revenge (currently) on comments that are giving on topic feedback.
So its not actually taste of your own medicine, but simply attempting to bait the troll.

If there was no **** on this thread, it would have been barely 5 sentences.
And if the beginning post had these 5 sentences (like I mentionede before), there was no **** going on but instead a discussion could have been started.
The way it has played out was totally predicteable.

Unless someone already owns a top of the range PC, that's what it will take to run GT7, very few people will be spending 5x the amount of a PS5/PS6 to experience the same on PC. Especially when we're talking 2-3 years after the console release.

For me, the biggest appeal of Gran Turismo on PC will be 5-10 years down the line. Where by the nature of PC it will be able to be modded, archived, and so on. But the latest releases, no. I'll stick with the consoles experience on a big TV.

While I wouldnt, there are already a large amount of people having just that kind of equipment.
Dont underestimate the kind of commitment fans of a sort can show to what they like (to do).

Seriously speaking, all you would need to play GT7 is the console and a TV.
But then you add another 1000€ because the TV shall be good.
Another 1000€ because you want a wheel.
Another 1000€ because the wheel belongs into a rig.
Another 1000€ because the sound is lacking from those tiny TV speakers.

Except for the ones starting from scratch, invested players often already have all the stuff they want or need and that also goes for a powerful PC.

While we don't have market splits for high-end wheel use on console vs PC, I'm sure Sony can access this data with some of their partners. They'll weigh up what the expected market size is for GT7 on PC with an established sim audience, plus more casual players who want the sim-lite experience only Gran Turismo can provide. Well, Forza Motorsport does it too, but that playerbase has decamped to Forza Horizon which is more arcade focused than ever.

A quick look on Steam DB for concurrent players: Forza Horizon 5 18k, Forza Horizon 4 10k, Forza Motorsport 395 (hundred!), Assetto Corsa 7k, Assetto Corsa Competizioni 2k, Automobilista 2 410, iRacing 83 (stats maybe broken?).

Games that can be launched without Steam wont show up in the total count.
Maybe some iRacers just dont use it? Dont know.

Forza MS has drawn so much negative criticism I guess this is the reason for the low playercount, not being more sim than Forza Horizon (which I dont like for the freeroaming, I dont mind arcade but I just dont like empty worlds with lots of freedom to do nothing).

It's probably counting the iracing accounts used via steam, in iracing ui it shows 5k users

It's kind of funny the poster finds it hard to believe people are unwilling to watch a video and would rather talk about why the video is a waste of time then watch some random video nobody asked for.. then again totally understandable.

My 0.2 cents is Autopolis would either be great or terrible in reverse, sad we don't have it.. and laguna seca would be at least interesting in reverse. People would drive up the corkscrew and fly right off.. Spa would actually be a track im interestied in doing in reverse too.

Also why is grand valley called highway 1?? is there a second highway coming to make up for the lack of REAL Grand valley?

No, the real area the new Grand Valley location is based off is called Highway 1.

Watched the video last night. All good points.
GT was the original go to for me. Since GTSport I have invested a little bit in a wheel/rig, gradually upgrading things as I went along. In that time I never tried another game and stuck with it.
Last year I purchased ACC as it was on the PS5 platform. At first it was mind boggling compared to the 'jump in and go' GT7. I have stuck with it and now find this as my go to.
GT7 is still a great game, when friends are here and want to have a go on the rig, its always going to be GT7 that gets loaded. But when I want a few hours on my own I am on ACC now. I just don't enjoy endless grinding to collect endless cars that really are very rarely used.
I still love the GT series, its in my gaming dna. The sheer numbers of people playing it will always give it something. Just look at the forum posts by game. I will always give it some time every now and then, but it has fallen behind when it was the leader and having a PS5 for just one game, that is bonkers.

Contrary to some points made in the video, I have a different take on the GT7 improvements. Also why is doesn't need to go to PC.

Staple arcade racing Games like NFS and PCARS have had PC ports for a while is becuase they fundamentally statrted life out on on a Windows based PC, like the original NFS did, a la NFS1 & 2 & Hotpursuit. At that time the PC had the best specs for that style of gaming and demands for racing game. I have always enjoyed NFS on PC over it's console counterparts.

Fast forward 30 odd years and consoles have evolved to much better hardware specficiations, gaming engines (custom or UNREAL ENGINE) which have grown in development to match any sort of PC based gaming spec/style. The hardware is still not PC level but you can get quite a good detailed gaming exprience now on the PS5 & Xbox Series X from a technical standpoint.

SO I would honestly see no point of porting GT7 to the PC, (also typo in the video - 10min mark when she talks about PC it says "Tourismo to PC" lol) you would severly lose it's core demographic audience, there would also be no guarantee of crossplay with PC users as Sony treats this IP as it's baby (mentioned in video) and dont want to it be openly available to other platforms except Playstation.

Back to video, one point they kinda missed out, which I feel is a very valuable aspect of GT7 that is so often overlooked. RALLYING.
Now it maybe a jaded subject as even PD dont care too much, but I loved in the old games when rallying was first introduced, circa GT2, GT3 and GT4, as it they tried to make it work somewhat, with courses like AMALFI coast, half section of PIKES PEAK (GT2?) EVEN HIDDEN in GT5, and others like Tahiti Maze to name a few. At the time of those games, My little teenage mind was blown up at that time about how crazy the world of rallying was and how GT opened that up to me as a Motorpsort and Car lover.

We have a good physics model in GT7 that works well, they have implemented a new snow track which is great and that works pretty well with most Rally cars & 4x4's, but I would love to see point to point racing liek a True Rallying course should be. Catalunya is close but that isnt tru rallycorss racing at all, it should be 1 v 1 racing, not the 16 cars, all stacked in a bash on first corner bollox, track shenignans.
I know everyone here, would love to make Hillclimb custom monster, kicking up gravel and dirt particles, on your windscreen and tyres, in GT7 and hoon up the peaks course or any other course that they could eventually add! We already have the staple halo car, SUZUKI Escudo and ID.R Ppeak cars, so birng the track back to use them in!

I have been constanly begging for better GT3 race cars as highlighted in the video, all the online races contain old GT3 racecars that are in dire need of improvement, as they mentioned we do have the Suburu BRZ GT500 racecar and others but its not quite enough. To add to this why is 90% of every race in GT7 a rolling start, should we not have grid starts so we all start fairly and battle to the top spot, isnt that how racing works? I DONT GET IT! :boggled:

They also mention in the video, endurance races which I used to love in GT3 and loved playing those, in contrast with GT7, the Human comedy have spoiled these by creating a far fetched goal to achieve a small mediocre reward. You dont feel as much accomlishment to complete these as you would those long edurance races. The GT7 missions are a bit more creative to say the least in how to achieve a task within GT7.

That is one of the major points for me!

GT7 is very playable with a game pad as well, for a full-on sim you need a wheel(at least that is my experience so far)...GT7 works on both, wheel and game pad!
